The Happy Hollisters
The adventures for the Hollisters begin as soon as they move into their new house on the shore on Pine Lake in Shoreham. First, the moving van carrying their toys and their father’s important new invention disappears. Next, they learn that their house may be haunted, with a treasure hidden somewhere inside!
Right away they all set out to solve these mysteries. Each one of the Hollister children – Pete (age 12), Pam (10), Ricky (7), Holly (6) and Sue (4) – plays an important role in finding clues, along with their parents who are always ready to join in on the excitement. Even Zip, the collie, and White Nose, the cat, are part of the family, and find thrilling adventures of their own.
As the Hollisters explore their new town and make friends, they discover what happened to the moving van, and learn more about the mystery surrounding their new home. Excitement abounds when a secret stairway is discovered. Then, on the trail of a mysterious intruder, their chase leads them to a deserted hut on nearby Blackberry Island.
Over seventy action-packed illustrations make the story— and the Hollister family— so vivid that the reader has a feeling of really sharing in on the adventures of this lovable and interesting family.

I read these as a kid, and bought this for nostalgic reasons. These were simpler days, when play was unstructured and curiosity rewarded. Soon after I graduated to the Hardy Boys, and then Tom Swift. The Hollisters introduced me to believable fantasy, and that was a gift indeed
Very easy to read a lot like the Box Car Children.
Simple but entertaining children’s story set in the 1950s
my great niece loves this one she is reading it for school and has been really enjoying it
My 8 year old son loves these books and he HATES reading!!!
A classic, though perhaps dated, children’s mystery series opens with this book. I loved these books as a young reader back in the ’60s, though I grew out of them pretty quickly. For children looking for a successor to The Boxcar Children, this should fill the bill.
Great book for young readers, good family fun that anyone can enjoy, a happy family that solves mysteries together.
I grew up with these books. I loved them then and still do. So happy to see they haven’t disappeared.
This whole series is great. I read them when I was young and all our children liked them when they were young.
The boys and girls play together and gave fun adventures and the family business is a camping, toy and sporting goods store. What could be better?
