My dreg name is The Hacker. I can get past any firewall, decrypt any document, hack into any electronic device. No matter your secrets, I will find them. Nothing is safe from me. There is no other hacker in the world with my unique abilities. So when I discover someone is researching me, I take notice. Senator Collins’ daughter is on to me. She’s an investigative reporter on the hunt for the truth … hunt for the truth surrounding her father’s death. She knows I was somehow involved. She’s threatening to find me. To make me suffer. She won’t stop until she gets her story. So I egg her on, daring her to find me.
She takes the bait.
Now I have a choice to make. I can scare her so badly that she gives up her investigation and stops looking into her father’s death.
Or I can share the truth. About her father. About The Company. About the dregs. About everything.
But if I let her into my life, into my heart—if I trust her—she could destroy me so easily. She could ruin us all.
How far will she go to get her story? And how much am I willing to reveal for an elusive chance at love?
This is an 8-book series. These books are romantic suspense with sci-fi elements. Each contains a separate romance with an HEA (and no cliffhangers!) However, it is recommended that they be read in order to get the full “dreg” experience. These books contain strong language and adult situations. Recommended for readers ages 18 and up.

This one especially spoke to me ~ I raced through it ~ I’m a sucker for hacker stories ~ I find them incredibly fascinating and then the journalist (reminds me of me 30 years ago! Seeking the truth in all matters . . . . ) Shannon is the perfect ~ and I do mean *PERFECT* (!) foil for Noah. But the END!!!! I NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS SAW THIS END COMING!!!!! WOW! I’m STILL gasping!!!
This is book 6 in this series. Each book is a stand alone but it is recommended to read them in order. This is hackers story. This is a great series

Exciting and full of twists
Good romance full of doubts, with a slight hint of science fiction on research to develop adolescent soldiers. It’s very well written, full of twists and turns, with two heroes tormented between wanting the truth, a strong attraction and a lack of confidence in everyone, even the person who attracts them.
Noah is a young hacker whose killer and hacking skills developed at the heart of an agency when he was a teenager. His formatting changes when he meets Shannon who is the daughter of the senator he just killed, but in self defense. Both are attracted to each other, but they have no confidence in anyone and the naive Shannon, however an investigative journalist, comes to discover a brutal world and enemies she had never envisaged around of her, while Noah seeks to protect himself and all those he cares about.

A nail-biting steamy romance. I really did like this novel. Not because it was flawless, because it wasn’t. The idea was a cross between an action-packed suspense thriller, a steamy sexy romance, and X-men. The evil forming the backbone of the story riled me up so much that I had an increased heart rate throughout reading this book and my need to wanting to read about righting the injustice, horror and immoral terror The Company unleashed on the characters in this book was overwhelming. I feel though that the scientific explanation behind the way the changes were elicited and achieved in the characters was somewhat uninformed. Although foreign DNA, spliced into an embryonic DNA can be achieved but injecting DNA into an adult intravenously is highly unlikely to result in lasting change if any. The main characters of this book are Shannon and Noah. Killing Shannon’s father wasn’t the best guarantee for a lasting, trusting relationship and Shannon although is determined to bring her father’s killer to justice, she cannot deny her confusing feelings for Noah who gradually introduces the naive and totally oblivious Shannon to her father. This situation is a typical example of a very bitter pill to swallow, which is nothing compared to the heart-stopping horrors that Hughes has in store for Shannon. Is that the ultimate peak of tension achieved in this book? No! Finding out who was behind all the atrocities and inhuman suffering would give anyone the shock of their lives. By this time, Shannon is head over heels in love with Noah and against all the odds, which you’ll find look insurmountable, we are rewarded for all our anxieties with a lovely HEA. Thus there is no need to reach for a Beta-blocker. The characters are very well described and the dialogues are not only appropriate but the scenes so are descriptive, you feel as though you are watching on the screen. The author even managed to inject some witty dialogue into the storyline. I would recommend this book without hesitation.

I love this series. The writer is great. She pulls you in makes you feel the characters, the emotion. I love the bonds between the dregs. This is unveiling of family secrets, of learning to trust. Of strength, cunning, of unity and being a great person inside and out. The love flows strong between the dregs and their mates. This is a must read. I recommend you read them in order as they make reference to past characters and they show up in the book. It can be read as a stand alone but is better in order. I recommend this author to all. Well worth the read.
