NOW A TOP 40 AMAZON BESTSELLER!Strike One-My mother named me Theodore after her favorite chipmunk. Not cool, Mom.I‘ve spent most of my life answering to Teddy, because I couldn’t make Theo work.Except for here. College. The place where all bets are off, and I’ve managed to redeem myself. There’s only one problem, my new roommate, Troy, is football royalty and looks like he stepped off the set of an … royalty and looks like he stepped off the set of an Abercrombie shoot.
Doesn’t matter, I cook a mean breakfast for his panty parade, and we get along well.
And anyway, this year I got the girl. And she’s perfect.
That’s right. Theodore Houseman, former band geek, now marching band rock star has finally landed the girl of his dreams.
Everything is perfect.
That is, until Troy takes a good look at her.
I’m not going down without a fight. As a matter of fact, I’m not going down at all. As glorious as these days may be for my all-star roommate, Laney is my end game.
I may not know much about play strategy, but I’ve been the good guy my whole life. I’ve been listening and I know exactly what women want. Framed in a picture standing next to me, Troy may seem like Mr. Perfect, but he’s underestimating the guy on the right.
Spoiler alert: In this story, the underdog is going to win.

I don’t think that there is a genre in this world that Kate Stewart would not be able to knock out! The Guy On The Right is another hit for me, and a definite recommended read!
This book was so funny! This book cheered me up instantly and Laney and Theo were hilarious. The comedic feel of this book will warm up your insides and give you a great big smile on your face. The dynamic between the two was brilliant. And as for Theodore’s sisters, they are totally awesome and I would LOVE to get to know them!
It wouldn’t be a Kate Stewart novel without any angst. It’s not so heavy, but its intensity can still be felt throughout. The trials that are faced are not easy on the heart, and the reason for the angst broke my dang heart.
The story was incredible. I loved how warm and fluffy the book was whilst still retaining the angst and the drama. And the steam… Wow! Could literally steam up your bathroom. I’m not kidding; it literally could.
The Guy on The Right is your typical and non-typical romance. Kate Stewart does what she does best and gives you a story that will melt your heart and laugh and then leaving you on the edge of your seat crying with a pint of ice cream in your lap. It’s a worthwhile read that I would seriously suggest reading.

How does Kate Stewart get better and better??? I was anxiously anticipating The Guy on the Right and I was so blown away! I absolutely love how Ms Stewart incorporates music into her stories. I am Amazed. I found myself clicking over to listen to the songs and they added so much emotion to the story. I love reading about cocky alpha bad boy athletes, but good guy college band member Theo was just as appealing if not more so! Theo and Laney might be my favorite book couple to date. I was hooked from the first page (which all her books tend to do!) and read it in one sitting. It was so so good and I highly recommend it!
I loved this one. It’s definitely one you should one click. I have read a lot of Kate’s books and this one is different. It’s not super angsty and heart wrenching but instead it’s a romantic comedy. I love how Theodore and Laney first meet and I couldn’t wait for their paths to cross again. These two are adorable. Laney is funny and just says things with no filter sometimes. Theo is a band geek. He lives with a footballer player that gets all the girls. Theo is really a gem. He’s a nice sweet guy. There are senses where the author describes the band performances and I loved that, I could so see it in my head while reading. Laney and Theo start as friends and then it becomes more. I was so rooting for these two. I loved Theo but there was a part where I was like oh no Theo. You need to read this one, you won’t be disappointed.
5 PHENOMENAL STARS!! This Phenomenal book just move to my top 5 books for 2019. Wow…..Kate Stewart delivered a perfect story for Theo and Laney. Their story was full fun, drama sexiness, friendship, love and so much more. This book has all the feels and warmed my heart…..what a different play on a romance book. You definitely need to read this book…..Grab it now, you will not regret it.
This book was an outstanding romantic comedy that made me laugh so hard I had tears!
The characters, the crazy hilarious words uttered by them, the banter, the blossoming friendship between Theo and Laney and the family friendships and support they both have, made this a highlight of my week to read!
I loved Laney, what a breath of fresh crazy air she was, she was someone I would love to be friends with. Along came Theo and he just put my faith in fictional men up so high, what a beautiful soul, caring but with a heart of gold! Their budding relationship will never be boring EVER!
I laughed so hard, I even shed tears! This story touched my heart so very much! It was an absolute pleasure to read and the author should be immensely proud of herself!

4.5 Living Our Realest Life Stars
A few pages in and I can’t wipe the smile off my face. Just so funny! Kate Stewart’s The Guy on the Right is a laugh-filled journey through love and life. I loved every minute of this sweetly consuming romance!
Theo & Laney are perfect. They are true opposites but fit like a glove together. Laney is wacky and full of sass. Theo is just genuinely the best guy. Their banter is non-stop and so funny I’m laughing constantly. Their time together is amusing and refreshing. There are just so many great things about this book but it’s best enjoyed by just jumping in.
The Guy on the Right is definitely the best feel good book of the summer and a must read!
5 amazing stars!! Kate Stewart has done it again! I so love how Kate writes stories full of emotion. I love how I actually feel the rawness and depth and sincerity of how she writes. In “ The Guy On The Right” we get a story of fighting for love that overcomes all. Also, a story of love that heals. In the end, I cried. I cried because reading Theo and Laney’s story captured all of me. Kate does that to me. She is a romantic and she sings to my romantic heart. I do not do justice to what this book means to me in my review. All I can say is read and get captured in the amazing world of Kate Stewart.
I might’ve fallen slowly, but I just landed impossibly deep.-Laney Cox
AMAZINGLY FABULOUS!!
The Guy on the Right is a MUST read of 2019!! I was completely blown away and fell in love with this book immediately. It is the perfect underdog love story that will definitely make you swoon and pull for the so called “band geek”.
Kate has written this book so perfectly! I loved Theo from the very beginning and the chemistry between him and Laney were off the charts. Their love story is a slow burn that keeps you hooked all the way to the end. This book is going to give you everything you want in a perfect love story. You get plenty of laughs, the emotional pull, the heartbreak and the happiness of love when these two opposites attract!
This book was SO MUCH FUN TO READ! Tons of cute, hilarious and memorable moments between Theo and Laney. What surprised me the most was the fact that Theo is still a virgin at the ripe college age where there are no male virgins left in romance. Loved it, also very different!
This is a friends to lovers, new adult romance with a slow burn. The build up, angst, anticipation and sexual tension is everything!
I KNEW I would love this book. I needed an underdog story, although I never knew I did. Theo and Laney BOTH remind me of myself at different points of college. I’m a sucker for a good guy and I loved Theo. He was so jaded from Nora and how he was treated that it was hard for him to open up to a new relationship. Laney loves love. I loved love and kept searching for the love of my life, always the wrong way too. I never opened up, just was in love with the idea of being in love, that I went about it totally wrong. Being friends before anything was the way to go for these two. The underlying trust issues were heightened with Theo because of his past, but that seemed completely plausible. I felt his pain and felt his defeat. I love how there is a new story opening with Troy and it teaches us to NEVER assume we know everyone’s story. We don’t. What a great book if you need some eye openers.
5+++++ DORITOLOCOSGRANDBANDMAN STARS
If I could give this book ONE MILLION stars I wouldIt was EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!
This rom-com dramady had me at the first word! Kate Stewart has the hook! She has it in every book she writes and the writing…..gaaaah it’s just STELLAR! I’m no English major and couldn’t write myself out of a wet paper bag but I feel like I know good writing and this right here is THE SHIZZNIZZLE! This was so freakin hilarious with the perfect amount of hot and that little bit of angst that had you turning page after page and you couldn’t stop! You DIDN’T want to stop! This will be a timeless classic for me! One that will be on my shelf that I will reread for years to come!!!!
Theodore Houseman…good looking, romantic, band geek, always picked last, and leader of the broken hearts club. The MOST perfect book bf you could ever ask for! Bless him! I loved him from the first words he spoke!
Elaine Cox (Laney), ball buster, outgoing, beautiful, personality overload, and on a penis break when we begin. She is the epitome of what you want in a gf and a bestie! I would LOVE to be her BFF!!!! I feel like there is so much Kate in her personality!
This was the best friends to lovers romance I’ve read in a long long time with so many little extras that made you laugh your ass off! The southern slang was so on point and you couldn’t help but laugh out loud! At one point I was crying I was laughing so hard!
I can’t explain without spoilers how precious this book was. It showed how being friends and opening your heart to more is worth it.
If you don’t read anything this year this is the book you MUST READ!!!!! Absolute Brilliance!!!

This is one of the books I would love to become a movie. Yes it’s that amazing. A comedy romance that had me laughing out loud and crying the next minute loving and swooning so hard. Theo is in college in his eye the average guy and is tired of his pretty boy roommate. Laney is tired of the pretty boys and decides to give up with boys. Until one dark night at party things change for both of them.
This book is the perfect college romance seriously hands down my favorite I’ve ever read. Emotions made me feel raw and so filled with love for the characters. The cover is so unique and so perfect
too. Looking for a friends to lovers romance that will melt your heart look no further. I’m crying with happy tears writing this review! It’s that epic! 5/5 stars I wish I could give it a 10 in my top 2019 reads
This is it! Right here is your feel good, laugh your ass off, while swooning yourself silly book of the Summer!
Kate Stewart has yet again proven she can write anything; the woman can cross tropes like nobody’s business! Off the heels of the heart pounding and deeply moving Method comes The Guy on the Right! Packed full of humor, smart wit and such lovable characters, you’ll find it impossible to wipe the smile off your face.
Theo and Laney are absolutely amazing! I routed for them from start to finish. The slightly self deprecating Theo meets the slightly wacky Laney at the exact moment they simultaneously hit their bottom of the barrel. From that night they form a friendship that is so fun to watch blossom into more. They are so perfect for each other, it’s ridiculous and the cast of characters in their corners make the story all the more enjoyable.
I loved every minute of The Guy on the Right. As always, it’s a complete pleasure to read for Kate and I can not wait to see what she brings with Fourth and Inches!

This book was great!!!! I absolutely LOVED IT!!!! Theo and Laney have the best banter when they first meet, and I am hooked on them!!!! Of course, being that I’m a Texas girl, them being in Texas only makes it that much better!!!!! I love Kate Stewart so much!!! She is just an incredible author!!!!
I have NEVER, EVER laughed so hard in all my life. Kate Stewart wrote brazenly. The energy she poured into this book is splendid. Pure wizardry. A showcasing of her wit, that charismatic personality that we all love, and above all her fantastically absurd sense of humor. Everything about it just hits home. You must read this book!
Color me surprised! This book was not what I thought it was going to be. I really went in expecting it to have the same flavor as the bully trope or that college over the top angsty read. If you are avid reader and like what is currently popular you will know what I mean. I love those kind of reads too by the way but this story is so unique. It has its own amazing flavor for sure. Eek feeling a little giddy just thinking about it.
Theo… I LOVE LOVE LOVE this dude. He isn’t perfect but darn close. OMG the combination of his wonderful heart, brilliant brain, and quick whit make him the full package. Holy heck, his nerd qualities makes him look sexy.
Laney… this girl is the right amount of fiery and her banter with Theo is some of the funniest stuff I have ever read. She has heart too but definitely is a little more protective of it. She has had strong women in her life but realizes that starting with her father, men aren’t someone she can count on. She decides to do something different with Theo and watching the trajectory of their friendship is beautiful.
Am I making this story sound tame? Let me apologize then cause when this couple take their relationship to the next level, you won’t be disappointed. Fanning myself thinking about it. SEXY! Wink.
This story should be #relationshipgoals from the beginning. Even when missteps happen it still has an awesome message. Ugh I feel a reread coming on. SO GOOD!
Oh this author makes this entire story one big tease in a way. WTH! It is actually brilliant. I need some more Troy and Dante! My mind and heart are RACING thinking about them. Double Eek! I need to know ALL! Enough said on that subject.
This story is five star worthy and I predict you won’t want to put it down! Happy Reading Everyone! XOXO
This is how you write a romantic comedy to my hearts desires. OMG! The Guy On The Right was a blast! Hilarious, cute and romantic as hell. I even got as close as to pissing myself. Yup that’s right. Theo and Laney are insanely funny. A hoot. So opposite but so so right for one another. They just work.
Theo is a good guy who doesn’t get all the girls. He doesn’t want all the girls. He wants the ONE and all the emotions that comes along with it. He’s not a one night stand kind of guy and like his roommates.
Theo meets the outspoken and spontaneous Laney outside in the dark at a party. Even though they can’t see each other’s faces the connection is immediately. They unload on each other thinking they will never meet again. Well think again.
The second time the meet each other I was done for. Theo and Laney had me. Hook, line and sinker.
Their friendship and courtship was filled with so much humor, romance and laugh out loud moments. Starting with an instagram page. It was truly a beautiful friendship in the making and as they started to spend more time together, stripping layers of each other, they both discovered how special this bond they had created was. The build up was flawlessly written and as the story and their friendship progressed I started yearning for them to just give in and KISS. The pent up tension was insane and the reward was explosive. So damn hot and so worth it.
As opposites as Theo and Laney are they complement each other perfectly. Their families and friends especially Theo’s 3 older sisters and Laney’s mother and bestie Devin are fun and deliver memorable moments too.
The Guy On The Right is the perfect feel good, laugh out loud, swoon worthy summer book. Strangers who become best friends who become so much more than lovers. It’s a roller coaster of laughs and romance. From sniping hunting, to getting high to a tornado. Just to name a few highlights. It’s not even half of it. Just jump on board the Kate Stewart express and hold on for the ride.
Kate Stewart delivered comedy with her Balls In Play series and with The Guy On The Right she excels and has created a home run. Theo and Laney gave me all I could’ve ever imagined. A love story to remember. What a couple!
5 Taco & Grand Band Man Stars
Kate Stewart doesn’t do anything half hearted. She made you curse and cry with her angsty reads. And she is going to make you laugh like crazy and swoon with heartwarming goodness in The Guy on The Right. It was hilarious, charming, sexy and emotionally charged!
Laney, the leading “lady”, is just too much cool and awesome. She is full of life and believes in living her life to the fullest. She is always doing something weird, funny, crazy and oddly satisfying. Theo has been exact opposite of her. He has insecurity of a life time. He is calm and collected and planning oriented. Then he meets Laney and everything changes for them. They become best friends and then some more till Theo’s old hangover comes back to hurt them.
Kate said it will be an underdog love story. But for me Theo was perfect and so much better than his jock friends in every way possible. He is super talented musician with intelligence and smartness. He is witty, charming, kind, considerate and protective. He did act stupidly but he rectified them ( and that was a true spectacle!). I fall head over heels in love with him from first chapter. I loved reading about the evolution of the relationship. They are more like partners in crime and good deeds rather than conventional couple. Laney and Theo balance out each other’s negatives and elevate each other’s positives .The small gestures, the simple moments and the tiny yet meaningful strands of connection made it one of the sweetest and swooniest romance I have ever read. But Kate Stewart cannot leave out angst completely right? So you have to suffer through the miserable heart break but I assure you that was nothing too hurtful. It was just the right amount of drama and angst to make it a great romance.
Kate Stewart has excellent skills to write awe inspiring books in any trope she chooses. And The Guy On The Right was no exception. This story was full of so many unforgettable memories. This was a lighthearted rom com wrapped in serious awesomeness!
