I was in the middle of my divorce when Adam messaged me. I believe his exact words were, “Hi. I think you’re my dad’s brother. Would you like to get to know me?”My brother and I had never been close, so I’d only met his adopted son a few times when he was very young. Instinct told me to ignore the message, and I did. For a few days. It took an exhausting fight with my soon-to-be ex-wife and half … ex-wife and half a bottle of whiskey for me to change my mind.
Adam first became “sort of my nephew.” Next, he became the guy who helped me find an apartment in the building next to his. He was a sweet, cheerful young man doing his best to raise his four-year-old daughter, which led to him becoming the guy who wanted to help me patch up my relationship with my own daughter.
Then one night as I got ready for bed, I looked across the alleyway to the next building, where I saw him getting ready for bed too.
I couldn’t look away to save my life.
It was the night he also became the guy in the window.

I loved this book! As with every Cara Dee book the story ran smoothly and the MC’s were beautiful. This book had me from page one. Adam is an enigma and just plain beautiful! Everett was beautiful in his own way as well but Adam calls to you from his first words! Little Bella was definitely a wonderful add to this read. And the steam level…oh so good!
This is without a doubt one of Cara Dee’s best books to date. I fell in love with Aftermath and have been a huge fan ever since.
This is the beautiful love story of Everett and Adam. Everett has just gotten himself out of a loveless marriage and during an evening when he is feeling at his lowest receives a message. Well little does he know but this one simple message will change his whole world.
Adam knows who he is. He knows what he wants. Adam is so selfless he gives everything to one person. But with his selflessness he does not let himself truly live!
These two beautiful souls connect and it’s a slow moving beautiful love story that I did not want to end. This is Cara Dee at her finest and I cannot wait to read more.
When Everett’s life changes after twenty five years, it changes in many ways he didn’t expect.
One welcomed addition and change was Adam and Bella.
Adam was an enigma, spark, breath of fresh air, an obsession and a guy in the window who became the missing piece of Ev’s life that he so desperately needed.
I loved how the confident, zesty Adam also had his own issues which Ev was able to help him with.
This was a smooth flowing storyline which draws you in from the beginning with amazing characters, some kinky scenes, a sweet little girl, the reconnecting of loved ones and a satisfying ending. Definitely worth a read.
Wow, wow, wow, wow!
Just when I think I know what to expect from Cara Dee she goes and blows my mind with something completely different. I absolutely adored the dynamic between Everett and Adam, and don’t even get me started on little Bella. Cara writes ‘real’ people like no other author I’ve ever read. Their personalities leap off the pages, the writing is that good.
This is a low-angst, funny, sweet, and sexy book that left me feeling all warm and fuzzy. It’s a brilliant read—one I’m sure to return to over and over again.
I couldnt put this book down. Cara is great at making her characters real. They have flaws and their lives aren’t perfect even after they meet the person they fall in love with.
This is the case with Everett and Adam. We watch as the relationship starts out one way and goes in another direction with a small twist.
Of course all of Cara’s books have a happy ever after, this one comes with more than 1 hea.
I just love the relationship Ev and Adam have with little Bella.
I love all of Cara Dee’s books. Everett is a recent divorcee who finds a completely different love than his last. This book has a little of everything. A little taboo. Some hot sex scenes and most of romance. A great read.
When I first started reading this book I wasn’t sure how much I was going to like the subject matter (but I mean come on its Cara Dee!!!) turns out I really loved this one. FIVE STARS! Cara has taken a subject that most view as a bit taboo and has brought it to life in the best possible way. I didn’t want to put it down.
This is a naughty, maybe a little taboo, read with a lot of heart! I loved this book these two are am indecent pair but are exactly what each other needed. They are related due to adoption not by good, but have never really been around each other. They reconnect on a whim and as things progress they realize they need each other in more ways than they expected. Then there is the children I love a book with a single dad and this one did not disappoint. Miss Bella is so amazing in this story what a little sweetheart! If your looking for a book with heat and a whole lot of naughty this is the book for you!!
Cara Dee delivered once again with a phenomenal read. It has layers and a poignant storyline about a major life event. It’s way beyond hot and perfectly dirty. I’m surprised my kindle didn’t catch on fire!
Character development is perfect. I immediately connected with Everett and his personal journey was so deep. Adam is just as three-dimensional and impossible not to fall in love with. The chemistry between them is thermometer breaking and definitely made me glad I read it at home and not in public! It’s not just those charters that created such a profound realism though; the other ones enhanced the entire storyline. Bella is one of my favorites of all time and Grace is so genuine that it felt like I was right there with the characters. The world building is astounding. It was almost a shock to finish the book and come back to reality, the best compliment I can give.
The plot is captivating and delicious. It definitely has a major hotness quality but it’s so much more. It was a unique tale that Cara Dee weaved and I fell in love with it every word at a time. My only complaint is I desperately want more!
5 stars for perfectly dirty hotness and a moving read
“Every new beginning comes from some beginning’s end”
A line from a song that describes this book in a heartbeat.
Everett’s 25-year old marriage is over. Quite honestly, it had been over for years and he was just walking around on autopilot.
Adam was adopted by Ev’s brother. But like Ev, Adam is estranged from that family.
Neither the age gap nor the “uncle/nephew” matters bothered me. Maybe because it was not by blood and also they’re grown as men capable of living their lives according on their own terms.
Cara Dee has always written about plots/subjects that will take you out of your comfort zone. She’ll make you uncomfortable & unsure, but she’ll also captivate you and you’ll see why it just makes sense.
This book contains new beginnings, taking chances, discovering one’s self, repairing important relationships and living your life unapologetically. It’s also a beautiful and unique love story between two people who came into each other’s lives at a certain point when both needed it the most.
My favorite character? Bella. I can’t fathom the amount of awesomeness she excuded between the pages.
Five stars for another Cara Dee goodness!
Wow, what a great book. I love Cara Dee. She writes great books. This one is no different. A little kinky and I loved it. Everett and Adsm were such sweethearts. I loved them together. Bella was such a great addition too.
4.5 Stars
The Guy in the Window is a heartfelt, low drama story about self-discovery and personal growth.
Everett had no idea that he was just going through the motions of life for the last ten year. After his recent divorce, he was left with a bitter ex-wife and a broken relationship with his only daughter. One drunken reply to his sort of nephew’s message had opened his eyes and changed his life.
I loved that Cara has always made her characters and plot real and relatable. Everett’s situation was authentic in today’s busy world. It often takes someone or some dramatic action to kick us out of our routine so that we can reflect on what made us happy.
Adam was a breath of fresh air. I loved his honesty and bluntness. I admired his bravery in achieving what he wanted via an unconventional way. His relationship with Bella was endearing. Bella was a doll and Adam was such a good dad.
Even though there was an insta-attraction between Everett and Adam, their relationship and connection was slowly built. Their sexy times were passionate and intense, but their relationship was so much more than physical. I loved that they both built each other up and wanted to improve each other.
Overall, I truly enjoyed and highly recommended this heart-warming story.
