THE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLERKaren White invites you to explore the brick-walked streets of Charleston in her fifth Tradd Street novel, where historic mansions house the memories of years gone by, and restless spirits refuse to fade away… With her extended maternity leave at its end, Melanie Trenholm is less than thrilled to leave her new husband and beautiful twins to return to work, … beautiful twins to return to work, especially when she’s awoken by a phone call with no voice on the other end—and the uneasy feeling that the ghostly apparitions that have stayed silent for more than a year are about to invade her life once more.
But her return to the realty office goes better than she could have hoped, with a new client eager to sell the home she recently inherited on South Battery. Most would treasure living in one of the grandest old homes in the famous historic district of Charleston, but Jayne Smith would rather sell hers as soon as possible, guaranteeing Melanie a quick commission.
Despite her stroke of luck, Melanie can’t deny that spirits—both malevolent and benign—have started to show themselves to her again. One is shrouded from sight, but appears whenever Jayne is near. Another arrives when an old cistern is discovered in Melanie’s backyard on Tradd Street.
Melanie knows nothing good can come from unearthing the past. But some secrets refuse to stay buried….

Enjoy the entire series and always looking for more books by this author.
Delightful characters and plot. Enjoyed the style of the author as well as characters.
Not my usual genre, but we’ll written and I enjoyed it
Easy read.
In this episode of the Melanie Trenholm (married) series, Melanie returns to work and must find a Nanny that will last more than two months. On her first day back, she has a new client who (coincidentaly) happens to be a professional nanny. She has inherited an old house, and wishes to sell asap. Of course the house is haunted. An interesting story, which once more delivers a few twists and turns.
I fell in love with the entire host of characters and really hope that Tradd St. actually exists 😀
Different take on ghost stories. Follow her series
I just found Karen White a few months ago. I am enjoying her books. I have read 4 and all are wonderful. She tells stories about people and generations in families and I love to read these kind of stories. ” The Guest on South Battery” was my first and I could not put it down. I am eager to read more of her books.
I enjoyed reading this book. Having visited Charleston on many occasions. I savored knowing the actual places mentioned in the book’s pages. The storyline was well crafted.
Love Karen White and this series. I read it in two sittings and wished it had not ended. She has developed the characters so much making them multifaceted and therefore very interesting. I love the paranormal and these stories are almost believable. Looking forward to reading the next books in the series.
I love books by Karen White! I like the setting of the south and how she intertwines the spirits into the story.
Fun easy to read book. This is the first book I have read by this author. I will read more.
