THE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLERKaren White invites you to explore the brick-walked streets of Charleston in her fifth Tradd Street novel, where historic mansions house the memories of years gone by, and restless spirits refuse to fade away… With her extended maternity leave at its end, Melanie Trenholm is less than thrilled to leave her new husband and beautiful twins to return to work, … beautiful twins to return to work, especially when she’s awoken by a phone call with no voice on the other end—and the uneasy feeling that the ghostly apparitions that have stayed silent for more than a year are about to invade her life once more.
But her return to the realty office goes better than she could have hoped, with a new client eager to sell the home she recently inherited on South Battery. Most would treasure living in one of the grandest old homes in the famous historic district of Charleston, but Jayne Smith would rather sell hers as soon as possible, guaranteeing Melanie a quick commission.
Despite her stroke of luck, Melanie can’t deny that spirits—both malevolent and benign—have started to show themselves to her again. One is shrouded from sight, but appears whenever Jayne is near. Another arrives when an old cistern is discovered in Melanie’s backyard on Tradd Street.
Melanie knows nothing good can come from unearthing the past. But some secrets refuse to stay buried….

Loved the characters and the ghosts. The old houses of Charleston are the best. Including the houses in this storyline was great. Loved the series.
I can’t wait for the next book in the Tradd series! If you read one in the series, you get hooked!
If you have never read this series, buy the first book. You won’t be sorry. Great for beach reads.
great read
I always enjoy Karen White interesting characters and interesting plot good read
enjoyed it am a fan of ghost stories.
Great book
I have read two of her books and enjoyed them. She describes the characters so you can picture them in your mind and the unpredictable happenings of the ghost in those old Charleston mansions is interesting.
I found myself once again getting attached to the characters in White’s book. This particular tale is a page turner whether it’s secrets that are buried at the bottom of the lake or Melanie herself discovering how to navigate her new marriage and twin babies.
This turned out to be a ghost story. Not my cup of tea.
It was too woo woo for me. Spirits were everywhere and it seemed all the book characters could sense them. I wasn’t interested even though I love reading stories placed in Charleston, SC. I didn’t finish the book.
Love all the Charleston SC series. Great read.

Love Karen Whites books
I have enjoyed most all of Karen White’s books. I love reading about Charleston, stories set on the East coast. Her stories are interesting in the way she develops her characters then weaves them in with the main character. She describes the settings to where you feel as if you are right there.
I read all of Karen White’s books. She can get you on the first page. This book is part of a series, everyone better then the last. I can’t wait to read the new one coming out in October.
