EVERYONE REMEMBERS THEIR FIRST LOVE…
BUT SOMETIMES IT’S THE SECOND LOVE THAT LASTS
This book weaves together the heart of Nicholas Sparks, the romance of Nora Roberts, and the charm of Debbie Macomber.
Fleeing her picture-perfect marriage among the privileged set of Brentwood and the wreckage of a failed marriage, Lily Parkins decides to move to the only place that still holds happy … to move to the only place that still holds happy memories, her grandmother’s old farmhouse. The lush and majestic setting of the Pacific Northwest calls to her and offers a place of refuge and perhaps renewal. Her grandmother has passed away, leaving the Madrona Island Bed & Breakfast Inn to Lily.
Left with only an old guestbook as her guide — a curious book full of letters, recipes, and glimpses into her family history — Lily is determined to embrace her newfound independence and recreate herself, one page at a time. With the help of the quirky island residents she has befriended, she slowly finds the strength to seek out happiness on her own terms. But as soon as she has sworn off men and is standing on her own two feet, Lily meets Ian, the alluring artist who lives next door, and her new life is suddenly thrown off course. The last thing she wants to do right now is to open her heart to another man.
Ultimately, Lily must decide if it’s worth giving up her soul for security or risking everything to follow her heart in this romantic love story.

A sweet and lovely story of love and trust, both lost and later found. The bond of family and friends and learning to accept the help given. Beautiful imagery and endearing characters will sweep you away to Madrona Island.
Loved this book. It took me to Madrona Island.
I LOVED the description of the surroundings. It made me feel peacefully there enjoying it.
There was one item that wasn’t researched though. A Lilac is an ornamental TREE! I’m a Yankee. I know these things! 🙂
This is a sweet story that I found easy to read and enjoyable.

Fluffy, but very nice
Reminded me of my relationship with my grandmother. Shows how much older people have an impact on your life even when they are gone.

I really enjoyed this book. Good character and story.
I enjoyed reading it.
I really like sequels and after reading The Guestbook I couldn’t wait to read about the other characters.
Nice story with touching history with deceased grandmother.
Excellent writing.
An easy to read Romance with a twist. Contemporary literature, the main character inherits her Grandmothers Bed & Breakfast on Madrona Island. The supporting characters are more interesting, and helped me finish the story!
Mostly a romance. If you like romance, you will probably like this. Romance isn’t for me so I’m not sure this review will help.
Loved this book!
kind of sappy and predictable
Cute story, not the greatest writing. Ok as light reading.
