EVERYONE REMEMBERS THEIR FIRST LOVE…
BUT SOMETIMES IT’S THE SECOND LOVE THAT LASTS
This book weaves together the heart of Nicholas Sparks, the romance of Nora Roberts, and the charm of Debbie Macomber.
Fleeing her picture-perfect marriage among the privileged set of Brentwood and the wreckage of a failed marriage, Lily Parkins decides to move to the only place that still holds happy … to move to the only place that still holds happy memories, her grandmother’s old farmhouse. The lush and majestic setting of the Pacific Northwest calls to her and offers a place of refuge and perhaps renewal. Her grandmother has passed away, leaving the Madrona Island Bed & Breakfast Inn to Lily.
Left with only an old guestbook as her guide — a curious book full of letters, recipes, and glimpses into her family history — Lily is determined to embrace her newfound independence and recreate herself, one page at a time. With the help of the quirky island residents she has befriended, she slowly finds the strength to seek out happiness on her own terms. But as soon as she has sworn off men and is standing on her own two feet, Lily meets Ian, the alluring artist who lives next door, and her new life is suddenly thrown off course. The last thing she wants to do right now is to open her heart to another man.
Ultimately, Lily must decide if it’s worth giving up her soul for security or risking everything to follow her heart in this romantic love story.

I good quick read for summer
Somewhat formulaic, a disillusioned wife with a convenient place to fall back to, the B&B her aunt gifted to her in her will and a small town peopled with good hearts and genial acceptance. But for all that, the story is charmingly told and perfect for cosseting a reader in cozy comfort.
Here, where treasure isn’t in coin, but in relationships and …
Nice escape fiction.
Good book!
Mushy and unrealistic. I’m not finishing it.

A sweet book and great characters.
Much like a Nicholas Spark book.
This is one of the best books I have read in some time. It is layered with romance and mystery with a surprise at the end you don’t see coming. A really great read, almost impossible to put down.
Too long, predictable.
Loved this book!
One of the best books I’ve ver read.
Worth reading…good story
Looking forward to the next two books in the trilogy! Will be interesting to see how she interweaves all the characters once again.
Could have used a good editor to clean up some errors, but worth reading. The next two in the series are better.
Enjoyable. Would probably read more of the author’s writings
A story of a woman who is starting over after 10 years of marriage. She goes to Madrona Island to a B&B left to her by her grandmother. In this small community she makes friends easily but struggles to see how she could reopen this B & B as it needs work done to the place. You will love the characters in this story and it also is a sweet love …
I received this copy from the author. I was not required to give a favorable review. All thoughts are my own. This is a wonderful story of a woman who is starting over after having a 10 marriage where is pretty much had to no decision ever taken or accepted and when she finds her husband is cheating to goes to the one place she felt like home. Her …
I am in the minority here but I just didn’t love it. I had to skim just to finish the book.
H is a bit of a doormat. She moved to a nice community and meets lots of characters. Problems were presented and solved rather easily with little angst.
Lots of recipes and food descriptions, missing days and time.
I will not read more of this series.
This book was set in an area of the country that I do love, however the story line was so predictable that I don’t think I can bring myself to read #2. The author’s writing was somewhat simplistic and the emotional effect almost non-existent.
