This book is my favorite Crichton book. I love the way he places the reader into the period through the dialogue. It’s a great period piece.
Not bad
Great book by Michael Crichton.
This book takes place in Victorian England. It is about a gang that robs a mail train.
A neat way to learn about this incident and this time of life.
Entertaining read . Very well written.
Behind a basic story is an interesting study of the early industrial age in England.
Some of the language was hard to understand. Crichton did his best to translate the colloquialisms but sometimes it interrupted the flow. Great story though!
One of the most unbelievable true stories I have read. You should read it too!
Disappointing and boring
I like Michael Crichton but this book was a little slow
Enjoyed learning about Victorian England as much as the plot, maybe more.
There was a great deal of historical facts of the Victorian Era. The story was interesting but the ending seemed just a little flat.
An interesting story all by itself and I just loved the way he also works in lots of fascinating information about Victorian life and the way people thought and lived back then. If you like historical fiction, don’t miss this! Outstanding!
I only give 5 starts for books that I think will be loved for centuries but I almost gave this 5 starts. It was fun, intriguing, and thought provoking. Well done.
Very interesting reading about all the planning that went into the robbery. However, the book was filled with 19th Century crime lingo, without any glossary, so I often did not know what the characters were discussing. I would have given it 4 stars if not for this language issue.
Very informative
It gave insight into life and crime in the 1850s. Amusing
Excellent book! It had me on the edge of my seat.
The book was okay, but there was too much extraneous material that I found it boring.
