Dwyn is a young man in the small, isolated town of Manicouga, son of the Minstor, who is betrothed to marry Kessa in a few weeks’ time.Mael is shepherding the remains of his own village from the north, chased out by a terrible storm that destroyed Land’s End.Both are trying to find their way in a post-apocalyptic world. When the two meet, their love and attraction may change the course of history.
This story is a mixture of fantasy and dystopian and science fiction all mixed into one story seamlessy. This is the story . It takes place in Northern Quebec after a cataclysmic ordeal . It is set about a couple hundred after the incident . The story is based around a young man named Dwyn and his friends . Where his father is a minister of the land and the laws are strict . When Mael and his band of survivors show up on their travels . Will Dwyn and Mael be able to have a relationship or will they all survive what is coming .The story is unique and takes us on a journey . What would happen if somethin horrible happened and the survivors had to re populate the earth. The author does a great way of describing the way of life and the fractions. The characters are well written and developed . You get to meet them and fall for them . Dwyn and Mael are strong but tender characters . Mael is a natural born leader and Dwyn is growing into a good leader The book si a fast read and you won’t be bored . The author makes us fall for the characters and the story is a great idea . There were some spots that I got a little confused but over all I was hooked and wanted to see what happens . I will be reading more from this author .
Going into reading this I was a bit hesitant. From the synopsis, it doesn’t sound like anything I would really pick up and read, much less absolutely love!
So this is my first from this author… I can even go so far as to say I’ve never even heard of the guy (and that saddens me!)
The world building in this book is amazing! I hardly find books that I can actually see the world being built inside my mind while I’m reading this, but while reading this I had it all imagined out and the characters were just parading though my head in my own imaginary town.
As for the characters, I have to say Mael I envision him as like the little devil on my shoulder encouraging me to give in to those guilty pleasures. But you know for this it works! Mael and his little group are who they are and they don’t see a reason to hide it or be ashamed for the love they feel for people.
All in all, for a book I wasn’t sure I was going to read, and one from the synopsis I was sure wouldn’t hold my interest, I am glad I was wrong. I will definately have to check out more from this author (which means I found a new m/m author) *does a happy dance*
What legends and lessons survive beyond the end.
Seriously though what permanent lessons are to be found. If nuclear war or other awful circumstances happened? Would you be one to lead others with kindness or fear? I would prefer to see a future of the former myself. Unfortunately logic and kindness don’t always win. May the future not be cursed with the prejudice of the past.
