Graham Russell and I weren’t made for one another.I was driven by emotion; he was apathetic. I dreamed while he lived in nightmares. I cried when he had no tears to shed.Despite his frozen heart and my readiness to run, we sometimes shared seconds. Seconds when our eyes locked and we saw each other’s secrets. Seconds when his lips tasted my fears, and I breathed in his pains. Seconds when we both … Seconds when we both imagined what it would be like to love one another.
Those seconds left us floating, but when reality knocked us sideways, gravity forced us to descend.
Graham Russell wasn’t a man who knew how to love, and I wasn’t a woman who knew how to either. Yet if I had the chance to fall again, I’d fall with him forever.
Even if we were destined to crash against solid ground.

I take a lot of stock in book reviews. I’m always checking to see what the average review is, how many total people reviewed and the if the review had truth in the words written by the giver. For all the effort I take in reading the reviews I guess it makes me a hypocrite to never have written one. I am changing that today because of this book. I like to read to feel, no I love reading because it makes me feel. I can say this book did that from start to finish. If your not into feelings, or hurt or truth of life then I can tell you 100% this is NOT the book for you. If by chance you need to feel that squeeze in your chest or for your breath to get caught in your throat. Or how it was in my case, huge alligator size tears. I hated Graham and then fell totally in love with him. The characters felt real and the emotional loss true. I’ll read the words a thousand more times just to get lost its light.
This book will break your heart and in the end Brittainy C. Cherry will put it back together as she does with each of the stories in the Elements series.
I loved Lucy and her “Hippie Wacko” self and Graham just needed a little bit of her hippie ways to rub off on him.
This is a great story and I don’t want to give away any of it and spoil it for anyone. So I will just say, “READ IT” it is worth it. Any of them in this series is awesome.
Lucy is a what you would call a hippie but I prefer the term free spirit. She always tries to see the best in people and she’s a deeply feeling person who wears her heart on her sleeve. I really liked Lucy’s character because she is different than me. Lucy showed me that it’s ok to let my emotions show and feel. Crying isn’t a sign of weakness and that it’s a sign of strength. It’s ok to let your emotions run through you and embrace the feels. It’s ok to fall because someone will catch me.
Graham is the exact opposite of Lucy. He’s hard, closed off and void of human emotions. When you read the story you see why and can’t really fault him. When the whirlwind that is Lucy comes in during his time of need she changes him forever.
Graham and Lucy. I wasn’t sure how I would feel about them as a couple because they were such polar opposites. Their relationship starts out rocky and is kinda forbidden but nonetheless it happens. I loved the slow burn of this relationship. You could feel the passion and chemistry oozing off the pages. I loved how Lucy was able to pull back the layers when it came to Graham.
“No one in love should ever be anything less than content.”
I honestly don’t even know how to write this review. This book wasn’t like anything I’ve read this year and it just blew me away. When I read this book I was overcome with a slew of emotions. Cherry’s writing and storytelling is on a whole different level. Her words speak to your soul. Her words are like a soothing balm to a burn. Her words are cathartic. This story makes you want to fight for your right to be love. The hopelessly romantic type of love. And to never to settle for anything less than!! Well done Cherry!
Graham Russell is a best selling horror author who has been abandoned by everyone in his life. He was raised by a father who was not capable of loving anyone but himself. Graham never learned how to love, and if he had he certainly wouldn’t trust it. When we meet him, he’s getting ready for his father’s funeral service. His very pregnant wife, Jane, has to practically drag him to the service, which he reluctantly attends. At the service he meets Lucille, one of the florists who provided flowers for his fathers service. They are briefly trapped together outside and strike up a conversation. This conversation defines who these two people are- Graham is an unemotional bastard and Lucille has a skip in her step and an optimistic view of life.
This novel is not a typical romance. This is a book about learning to love. Graham, for the first time in his life falls head over heels in love, with his baby girl. He would do anything for her and he does by reaching out to the sister of his wife (yes, Lucille is his sister in law!) to help him figure out how to care for his daughter. Lucille is immediately all in. Even though her sister abandoned she and her other sister in their greatest time of need, she doesn’t even think twice about helping Graham out, devoting all of her spare time. As they spend more time with each other Lucille falls in love with her taciturn brother in law. Looking at him through her eyes, I can see why. He is in love with this little girl and it brings out the humanity in him. A humanity that he soon has trouble shutting the door on. As his daughter melts his heart, Lucille’s generosity of spirit and wholesome love opens his heart to another kind of love.
Once again I’m going to reiterate that this is not your typical romance. Based on the cover you’d think it would be a sexy love story. There is a little of that much later in the novel, however the sexiness in this novel isn’t physical. The sexy in this novel comes from the warmth of love. The basis of their relationship is a friendship that builds throughout the entire novel. I loved that. The only negative for me was that he was married to Lucille’s sister. Jane disappeared after giving birth to a sick child and was obviously emotionally inept. That contrast between she and Lucille needed to be extreme for Gabriel to learn love. In fact that contrast between those two women, for me showed how much Gabriel emerged from the darkness into the light. That journey to a healthy love made the happily ever after even more rewarding.
Maktub … kismet … fate!
Heartbreaking, gut-wrenching, soul-crushing … that’s what this story is!
Graham and Lucy’s story is intense and profound, one of the most moving stories I’ve read in a long time … one of those stories you won’t forget for years, if ever.
It covers the gamut of emotions and made me feel them on a visceral level. It is impossible to put this book down until you have read every single word … Words that have now imprinted themselves in my mind, heart and soul.
Wow! Just … WOW!
My second novel by this author and what an amazing read. Lucille or Lucy as she is called is the third sibling of three sisters. She is a free spirited woman who is very much like her mother who passed away years ago. Lucy and her sister Mari owns a flower shop and gets an order to deliver to a funeral. She finds out the famous author Kent Russell has passed. After the funeral she finds herself locked out where the florist were to picked back up their flowers, as time passes the door opens and she meets Graham the author and son of Kent. So starts this tale of Graham and Lucy. They meet again under very unusual circumstances and start a very unlikely friendship but as time goes by they realize they feel more but yet there’s circumstances which will make it impossible for them to be together. As said these characters are so well written they come alive and make them so believable. I love the relationship Graham had with his professor Oliver or Ollie as he is called. It is amazing how individuals can be family without sharing DNA.My only complain is I would have love for the epilogue to let me know what happened with Mari and Jane.
Brittainy C Cherry has done it again and I’m just so over whelmed. This book has all the feels. Lucy is a woman who feels everything and Graham feels nothing at all. They meet, they both know there is something between them but they know they can never act upon their feelings. The characters are described with such depth that you feel as though you’ve known them all of your life. The despair and anguish this beautiful broken man survives is riveting. His only was of escape is to work hard and disappear in his writing. Lucy is there for him, helping him move on, being someone he can lean on, his lifeline. I won’t go into the books details, no one can do justice to Brittainy’s words. Just believe me that this book will consume you and touch your very soul. If you haven’t read the rest of the elements series, I highly recommend you grab them and enjoy!! I will be reading them all again very soon!!!
This book is special. It’s not about plot twists, dark and broody characters or fairy tales.
This book is about love, how it heals our hearts and opens our minds. How, when you find the right person, you should never let go. This book is about giving, about helping, about letting the good and the light in your life.
There was nothing surprising about the story to me. I could see it unfold so clearly after the first plot twist. The value of this book is in how it was written. You could feel the emotions pour from the pages. This book made me feel, made me invested. I hated the villain with such passion. I cried when the heroine did the right thing, although it broke her heart. I was so glad when the main characters got their happy ever after. There is so much emotion, so much heart, so much everything in this book. I loved every minute of it.
This book is just stunning! It is beautiful to the core. Written with style and confidence, it brings life to an array of characters with whom I fell on love. The prose is so poetic that it enhances the emotions and events described. I was there with Lucy and Mari, their love so strong; I treasured the words passed on to Lucy by her mother; I longed for Graham’s release from his prison of emotional isolation… Frankly, I couldn’t get enough of this book. Every word is gold!
I am in awe at how amazing this book is and fully understand why the essence of it has remained with me since the first time I read it. This has more heart, more depth, more emotion than anything I’ve ever read. I’d forgotten all the finer details of this story so rereading it was an eye opener as there were several things about it that I normally try to avoid and yet I loved it so hard the first time and just as hard this time.
This is a slow burn with virtually no smexy times but I never missed it or even thought about it until after the fact. From the first page I was pulled into these characters’ stories and I swear it felt like an hour had passed and I was on the last page. How did that happen?! Never have I been so in love with a hero and heroine more than Lucy and Graham.
Reading this a second time reminded me why I fell in love with this author’s work long ago and compels me to check out her last few books I have not read yet.
The Gravity of Us is truly spectacular! Maktub! Lucy is the hippie weirdo the youngest of the sisters, the caretaker of her family. Graham Russell is one lucky man who will crumble once he allows his feelings to surface. What a match!

This book was just pure love! I don’t know how else to describe it. It’ll tug at your heart and make you cry, but as always, Miss Cherry will mend that heart back together in the most beautiful way. Read this book you guys!
Emotional, heartbreaking, and with so much love to spread the story of Graham and Lucy is a story of hope.
Graham has been emotionally closed for a long time, people really don’t know his real person, just what tabloids and magazine show but something happened in his childhood in his past that made him this way.. not wanting to open up or show any kind of sensibility or weakness to the world he only portraits a man with a harsh core and a strict mind. he was married to someone even colder than him, without any care of the world and life.. she only cared about her and her career leaving him behind with responsibilities that she no longers care about.
Lucy is beautiful, happy and carefree she has a heart of gold and likes to help other people, some people didn’t understand her freedom and carefree making them somehow jealous of how she was so easy in life but time and circumstances will take her to Graham’s door where things for both will start to change.
he was stubborn, angry and closed off, she was happy, free and love helping other people, both worlds were so different but at the same time, their present and their future unite them making them aware of the chemistry and the love they both had.
There are other characters that give so much to this story and added even more to the relationship between Graham and Lucy.
I love how the story really caught me in a way that I feel every feeling and emotion Lucy was going through I even got mad a few times with her sisters for being that mean to someone that only wanted to help and love all of those around her.
overall it was a great story with a lot of ups and downs and the right amount of laughs and angst to make this wonderful story come alive.
I absolutely LOVED this book! Brittainy C. Cherry has the writing talent that is unforgettable. Her stories are so well written, clean without fluff and written with 100% of her heart. The Gravity of Us is book #4 in the series but can totally be read as a standalone. As with all the books in this series.
Once you meet Graham and Lucy, you will have them in your life forever. Total opposites yet they feed off each other perfectly.
Pick this book up and go on their journey! It’s a story written from the heart and one that will be with you forever.
I loved this book! Graham and Lucy were perfect for each other; their differences matched perfectly. The storyline was a good fast pace full of secrets and twists and turns. The characters were very well developed. Some I hated, some I loved. I will definitely be recommending this book to everyone!
I love this author and I love this book…..absolutely beautiful story with great characters…a must read..more than 5 stars!
5 Graham Cracker Stars!! What an amazing read! The feels!!! So poetic, emotional and absolutely beautiful! Definitely a top ten read of 2018. A journey that is full of hope, heartache and twists and turns. Grabs you from the beginning and holds on until the last word. Fantastic narration. “This life is short, and you never know how many chapters you have left in your novel, Graham. Live each day as if it’s the final page. Breathe each moment as if it’s the final word. Be Brave.”
Fabulous! It just touched and stroked every single string of my heart <3
I absolutely loved this. It starts off strong *teary eyed* early on. As I continued reading I thought I'd figured out where this was heading (I was wrong). It was NOT what I'd predicted and it was MORE than I expected. I found myself highlighting a lot.
Quote Because that was the thing about hearts-when you thought they were completely full, you somehow found room to add a little more love.
Quote ~ "You can only be alone for so long before you start convincing yourself you deserve to be that way-trust me, I know..."
Great book! Enjoy reading it.
“Always dance”
This book. Brittainy C.Cherry, you did it gain. The water works, the feels, the heartache. *sigh*
You pushed my buttons, you made me take a trip down memory lane, to my time at the NICU.The tears, the scares, the hoplessness I felt, afraid of being alone.
Then the joy,the love, the hope-how it all should be.
Thank you.Thank you!
