An epic Medieval romance written in the same old-world vein as ‘Ivanhoe’, this is a tremendously powerful story of Sir Bose de Moray and the Lady Summer du Bonne. Bose was the Captain of the Guard for King Henry III until Bose’s wife’s untimely death in childbirth. Blaming himself and wanting to be free of the memories, he resigns his post and joins the tournament circuit to compete for money and … for money and fame.
But dark rumors follow Bose; his mother-in-law is a vicious woman who blames Bose for her daughter’s death. She starts nasty rumors that Bose murdered his wife, and everyone on the tournament circuit is fearful of this dark, frightening knight.
Enter the Lady Summer du Bonne. A beautiful woman with a stammering problem, she has been kept hidden away from the world by her embarrassed father and protective brothers. Summer meets Bose at a tournament hosted by her brothers and for Bose, it is love at first sight. But the terrible rumors plague his attempts to get to know the lady, who is attracted to him as well. Summer’s drunken father eventually pledges his daughter to Bose, but Bose’s mother-in-law interferes and Summer’s father decides to pledge Summer to an unscrupulous knight who has shown interest in her, and who would like nothing better than to see de Moray come to ruin.
With so many forces working against the, Bose and Summer elope but they are captured and Bose is brought up on charges of thievery. A massive trial ensues and with a death sentence hanging over his head, only a miracle can save Bose and restore his honor.

I’m not as fond of this story as I am of some of her other books in this type. I like Bose and Summer. They’re great characters but her family protecting her by hiding her over her stuttering, I’d think most men wouldn’t care. You will love to hate Bose’s mother in law and a Knight most foul. Sir Kerry. Pock marked with green teeth? Lol! He’s a bad dude. Bose is a widower, and for four years his mom in law has made his life hell! Blaming him for her daughter dying of childbirth and reminding him and anyone who will listen of it. Especially poor idiotic Summers father. Summers brother’s are likeable. So is her sister in law. It’s all happening at a tournament. A melee and joust. Very exciting. But it’s a bit slower than her others. You may think differently. It’s got its high points. I hope you enjoy it.
4 1/2 STARS
Another fantastic read by the author of “Knightly Romance.” A love story between a strong dark knight and a young woman with an “imperfection.”
Again, Leveque does not disappoint.
In the Gorgon, scarred knight Sir Bose finds himself drawn to the beauty of Lady Summer. Lady Summer has been hidden away by her family due to a flaw in her speech. Sir Bose and Lady Summer’s love affair is one that makes your heart just melt. There is not the constant fighting between the H/h like in so many historical tales. Their conflict is between outside parties wishing to cause great harm to Sir Bose, and what better way than to threaten the woman he loves. This story will keep you turning the pages to see what will befall our fair couple and have you wanting more! I’m loving this author and her historical romances! Highly recommend!
Great story from 1200’s with different twists than many books. Definitely a book you don’t want to put down.
I really love this book and am a big fan of this author. I really love reading about knights and this book has plenty of them. It has historical intrique intertwined throughout! Excellent as are all her books I have read.
Wonderful characters.
Great book, as usual from Kathryn LeVeque. I enjoy all of her books and it seems she writes accurately for the time period.
I loved this book. Not too much sex. Wonderful love story.
Good read once again from my favorite author. Medival romance at it’s best. Knights strong and Damsel in distress.
I recommend.
It took a while to get into this story but it was totally worth it.
Great Read! Loved the characters and the adventure of the knighthood. Wish honor and chivalry weren’t dead.
Good and fast read!
I really enjoyed this book the characters held my interest as well as the story
Loved this book. Truly a love story. Tournaments, crazy m-in-law and loving brothers.
sad in someparts but ended well
I loved this book. It was easy to read and kept my interest.
Always adore Kathryns books, love the alpha male, bold lasses
LeVeque’s heroes are as stalwart and brave as they come, but all have some tragedy in their past to overcome. They manage to overcome their past tragedy, triumph over it and win the fair lady who now owns their heart. Enemies are vanquished and the hero prevails in battle. It leaves the reader satisfied with the pageantry, history and romance as well as the historic settings and descriptions. The characters are believable and have a “real” feel to them, so you easily identify with them and root for their success and romance.
Kathryn LeVeque never disappoints! Charlatans, ladies fair and otherwise (!), Strong, chivalrous heroes and heart-throbs, alliances and treachery. Nobility versus chicanery, sacrifice, power and true love… All elements you will encounter while developing an affinity for some characters and revulsion for others. Loved it!
