A shameful secret.A violent past. And the thing that she is the most perfect at?Hiding it all.Lindsey Johanson knows how to keep quiet about anything and everything, including the monster her husband becomes behind closed doors. Circumstances allow her to make a temporary escape from him, and with the friendship of veterinarian Noah Clark, she learns that she doesn’t have to be so good or … so good or obedient. But she also knows that the woman she is becoming is someone her husband will never allow her to be.
Noah discovers what Lindsey has hidden all these years. He goes to superhero efforts to help her find the strength to break free of all she’s suffered. Lindsey starts to understand that her life doesn’t have to be what her father or husband tried to make it. That is, if she can live long enough to claim what she wants and who she wants to be. For Lindsey knows, and what Noah doesn’t fully comprehend, is that nothing will stop her husband from destroying her.
No matter how long it takes.

Couldn’t put the book down. It was great.
wonderfully written gets the word out to people that never witness such abuse! it really happens
What struck me is how this author was able to understand how as an adult one can reflect on trying to understand their insecurities of themselves growing up in a dysfunctional family. And especiallyI try to mend the damage of themselves as well as the collateral damage of others.
A story of spousal abuse. Graphic details makes it not for everyone.
Didn’t care for the unnecessary profanities.
It was so interesting and unexpected and I really enjoyed it
Interesting story about a woman with an abusive husband
One of the best books I have read this year. Ordered more of the series
I did not read the first book, but got enough information from the second to understand the story. This was not an easy book to read, but it was informative and haunting. There was a happy (er)and satisfying ending as the h was finally understood and helped.
Interesting story, I know it’s a continuous tale but I doubt I will read the next one. I have gotten so old I rather want everything wrapped up in one book.
I thought the book was very slow. I enjoy reading about women who are willing to fight to get their lives back. This wasn’t one of those. I found the heroine disappointing who was not willing to help herself until the end of the book.
As a health care professional, another insight avenue to watch for clues on spousal abuse.
Great book.
I really enjoyed this book. I certainly learned a lot about spouse abuse and the tragic results.
This book held my attention. Hated to put it down. Kept thinking” just one more chapter”. Really enjoyed it.
I enjoyed reading this book.
As a reader I so look forward to a new release from Leanne Davis. Her books are the most emotional, gut-wrenching tragic stories. You know from the first page you are just going to have to hang on for that emotional ride with the characters as they go through their heartbreak and fight to overcome it right up until the last page.
If you haven’t …
Didn’t like this book
Truly shows how family dynamics affect one’s life
Lost my interest in the second half.
