Sometimes good things are nearer than expected. Margery has a nothing job, a nothing marriage, and zero self-esteem. Angie has everything she could ever want, except a life of her own making. Talia is overwhelmed by her pregnancy, by handling her career, and by caring for her toddler and a home-bound husband who needs a new heart. Gennifer has a high-powered career and a family that’s learned to … to fend without her. Gladys has never been married and approaches her golden years alone with failing eyesight. For the patrons of Neighbor’s Drugstore, the key to a rich, fulfilled life is closer than they think, if only they can open their hearts to the good nearby.

I felt like I was in this book with these people. It starts with a 4-year old girl Gigi & her obsession with the #96. The theme throughout is on GOD & how HE brings good out of bad & how HE brings several people to the realization that HE is there. There is a lot of pain these people are experiencing in their lives with health problems, marital problems & suffering. Gigi goes to visit her Grandma when she is 7 & her Grandma tells her she is going to be the good nearby. This influences Gigi in a positive way for the most part. Can we strive to be the good nearby for others around us?
Great characters with a message of faith.
This was an interesting book, a bit hard to keep track of the characters at times, as it jumped from one character to the next. It was not your usual cookie-cutter plot. The ending was a bit unrealistic perhaps, but a satisfying one.
Great read.
This is a great book! The author does an amazing job weaving the lives of several characters together and bring them altogether for a great ending. If you love inspirational fiction, This is a must read.
It took until the ending for me to decide I liked this book. It went too slowly in many parts of the story, got bogged down with superfluous details.
An extensive cast of well developed characters, needed to show how much one person’s life effects and intertwines with people in ways we don’t think about….
A wonderful book, inter-mingling so many believable characters. High recommend
In the beginning I was put off by learning all the characters. The more I read and really got to know each of them I saw how important they each were. What a beautiful inspirational story!
One of the best.
Sweet, but a little unbelievable
This book kept my interest to the very end. The characters and plot were smart and well developed and not predictable from the first couple chapters. An author worth reading.
A little hard to get into with so many characters to meet and keep straight but after that it was a good read with a surprise ending.
I enjoyed reading it
This story unfolded beautifully!
I enjoyed the goodness of the character inspiyr of their struggles. The ending was not what I expected. They ending was supposed to be a good one for all the characters but I cried a lot at the end.
I enjoyed it although I had a little difficulty keeping the characters straight at first since so many were introduced, one after another. Good editing was done with the spelling and grammar. There was a twist to the characters near the end that I didn’t expect. The ending was not realistic as one person couldn’t have possibly done all that the main character did, but it was heartwarming.
The Good Nearby is the story of a young girl growing up thinking that she is not good because she makes mistakes and her mom and dad do not understand her. They think she’s weird, and the young girl does not “belong.” The girl’s grandmom loves the little girl but only sees her once at Thanksgiving. Grandma loves the liottle girl lots and lots that day and tells her she is “the good nearby.” The story is sometimes sad, and sometimes joyful, but always interesting. The ending is a bit surprising but very satisfying. I highly recommend this book. I really enjoyed it.
I absolutely loved the story line and each character as the story built. How I thought the story would end, didn’t. Nancy Moser kept me guessing and knows how to keep her readers interested. The biblical verses fit the story perfectly.
Wondered how any good could come from these situations, but was a great ending. Liked the scripture references and the Evangelistic tone.
