This summer, romance blooms again in Wildstone! Take a sneak peek at Jill Shalvis’s next Wildstone novel, Rainy Day Friends, in this charming new novella. After a difficult few years, Tilly Adams is ready for life to start going right. Though she has a case of first-day nerves teaching art at the local community college, she knows it isn’t anything a few snuggles from her rescue puppy won’t cure. … her rescue puppy won’t cure. Until she sees Dylan Scott again, her one-time BFF and first love sitting in the front row.
Dylan knows he should’ve left well enough alone, but when he sees Tilly living her dream, he can’t help but make contact. Ten years ago, he left Wildstone and everything in it behind, including Tilly. He had his reasons, but now he wants her back in his life, anyway he can get her.
When Tilly agrees to design the logo for Dylan’s new helicopter touring company, it’s business only . . . until she finds herself falling into his arms once again. Can she possibly open her heart back up to the only man who’s ever broken it? But soon they’re both realizing the truth—love always deserves a second chance.

The rest of the story
This novella is everything else you needed to know about Tilly and Dylan from The Lost and Found Sisters. Although this is a continuation of their story, it absolutely can be read as a stand alone. The author does an amazing job of filling in the blanks and fleshing out their story that began as teens ten years ago. We now get reacquainted with them as adults, and what they’ve done with their lives, when they meet up again, the sparks are still there. I loved seeing them together again, and revisiting Quinn and Mick, also. Co-starring in their story is Leo, the greatest actor alive! This novella was sparky and sweet, and I loved it!
I don’t think that Jill Shalvis can write a bad book. I have been a reader of hers for years and she’s one of my all time go to authors. I fell for Tilly in Lost and Found Sisters. I liked her spunk and smart attitude which came through in adulthood. I enjoyed getting to know more about Dylan and his story on how he came back to Wildstone. I enjoy it when couples have known each other since they were children, as long as it’s written well, and this one meets my expectations. It was a great wrap up for the sisters and a great, easy read.
I loved this story about Tilly and Dylan. Jill has made this the perfect novella for the two of them. I like that the book is set 10 years after we first meet them in Lost and Found Sisters. It gives both of them time to grow up. I would highly recommend reading Lost and Found Sisters first before reading this book. That book is awesome by the way and so worth reading. Once you read that book then read this novella. I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
The Good Luck Sister (Wildstone, #1.5) by Jill Shalvis Dylan Scott and Tilly Adams (Tee) this is a follow up on their story from Lost and Found Sisters…. It was great to follow up with Mick and Quinn… Dylan and Tee were best friends and in love then he left …now 10 years later he is back… Love the mixed – up Files of Tilly’s Journal and Leo…. I could not put this down ..just as I always do I laughed out loud while reading.. I will never get tired of Jill’s humor…. Got my HEA… I won’t say more about this book …just read it you’ll love it… Looking forward to RAINY DAY FRIENDS…
“The only place that had ever felt like home to me was being wherever you were.”
I absolutely love to read second-chance romances! I love to see how the characters work their way back together—fight through their past history to make a future together.
Tilly and Dylan were best friends and lovers in their teens. They loved each other, planned a future together. Until one day Dylan left and never came back.
Fast forward ten years . . . Tilly’s about to embark on a new adventure—teaching art at the local college. She’s struggled for the past few years to find her way, but she’s well on her way. Until she spots Dylan sitting in the front row of her class.
Dylan has had his own series of successes and failures. He and his two best friends have started their own company—a helicopter touring company. And they need a logo and all the branding that goes along with it. How convenient Tilly’s an artist, right?
Hell, Dylan knows better but he can’t stay away, can’t keep away from the woman he’s been in love with for as long as he can remember. Now he just needs to convince Tilly he’s not going anywhere without her ever again.
Damn, I’m still feeling all that swoony goodness from my read through of The Good Luck Sister. I loved Tilly and Dylan’s story—their past and their present. They were perfect for each other, still in love, and still needed to work through what separated them in the first place. Their interactions were smart, funny, sexy, snarky and just fantastic. I loved the catch up with Quinn and Mick. And am looking forward to more in this excellent Wildstone series.
The Good Luck Sister by Jill Shalvis
A Wildstone Novella 1.5
I am smiling as I think back over this wonderful story just finished. I can’t think of a better way to have spent the afternoon than to have read about Tilly and Dylan and how they finally had their second chance at love. I remembered them from Rainy Day Friends, book one of the series, and loved them then though they were both so young. They are splendid adults that so deserved their HEA!
Okay, when Tilly first lays eyes on Dylan she is NOT thrilled and he has to work his way back into her graces but it is a sweet wonderful story with epigraphs from Tilly at each chapter, flashbacks to ten years before this story takes place that give a feel for their early friendship-love, introductions to Penn & Ric (Dylan’s business partners) that I hope will each get their own books and an update on Quinn & Mick.
This book deals with dreams and how we all have them when we are young. It speaks to the fact that sometimes life can get in the way of our dreams. And, it also lets us know that life can be as good as or better than our dreams if we follow our hearts.
Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.
5 Stars
I love a book like this to finish up character’s stories.
This book starts out 10 years later back in Wildstone. Dylan returns after finding himself and is on a mission to have the life and woman he dreamed about. Tilly and Dylan both feel like they haven’t achieved all the dreams or became someone to admire but when they both come back together, they realize that they need each other and have achieved several goals.
I love the quick flow of this book as the story line keeps moving and keeps you engaged. It is a good rainy afternoon read.
Past, present and future collide to create a catalyst for a second chance at love. To understand how far a person comes, one has to take a look at where they have been. Jill Shalvis takes a walk down memory lane with a broken heart and a second chance. Tilly lost more than her friend when Dylan broke her heart. She lost a bit of that feisty spirit, she was forever known for. Moving on was not easy, but finally she’s working toward her dreams, until a ghost from her past, makes it his goal to haunt her future. Amidst broken dreams, shattered pride and wounded hearts, The Good Luck Sister is a story of survival that spans a teenage friendship, a heartbreaking love affair and the ending that was always meant to be. Happily ever after.
Whenever I pick up a book by Ms Shalvis, I know I am in for a treat. This short novel proved my point.
If you read book one in the series, you met Tilly. If not , no worries, it’s definitely a stand alone that will touch your heart.
This story belongs not only to Tilly, but also to Dylan Scott. They were best friends and HS sweethearts , very much in love. But life for both was not easy. One being abused by a parent, the other having lost one. But Dylan disappears leaving Tilly devastated .
Eight years later, they meet again. Neither having fulfilled their dreams, but both having made something out of their lives. The attraction and feelings are still there , but can trust be restored, and will they be able to have their HEA?
Another touching, at times heartbreaking but also heartwarming story by this talented author.
I was entrusted this ARC copy. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
The Good Luck Sister is a sweet, tempting little novella, a bite size adventure in Wildstone, and a lovely follow on from Lost And Found Sisters (which if you have read you have met our leading lady Tilly)
I really enjoyed Tilly and Dylan’s story, heartache and hope all rolled into one story. I am a sucker for a second chance romance story, and The Good Luck girl roped me in right from the start and I couldn’t put it down.
I laughed, my heart ached, my heart soared as our lovelies try to find their way back to each other.
I loved getting more of Mick and Quinn and snippets of where their lives are at.
Thank You Ms Shalvis for this adorable novella. I need more
Excellent wrap up story for Lost and Found Sisters. Dylan returns to town after ten years in the military to find Tilly has fulfilled her dream of graduating from college and beginning a career in the arts.
I am not a fan of short stories and I really wish this could have been a full length book, but it was definitely a complete story as a novella.
The characters are great with the addition of Dylan’s two witty business partners. Pregnant Quinn is very funny. I don’t know what happened to the chickens.
This is a novella. It is the story of Tilly Adams and Dylan Scott.
Tilly is starting her new job in teaching art at the local community college. She has a case of first day nerves and having her one time best friend and first love sitting in the front row is not helping. Thankfully she has her rescue puppy safely tucked in her bag.
Dylan figures maybe he should have left well enough alone, but he can’t help himself and sets out to make contact. Maybe enrolling in her class isn’t going to help, especially since art is not his strong suit.
Tilly doesn’t understand why he shows up in her class and she doesn’t want to. Dylan left Wildstone ten years ago, leaving everything in it behind, including her. When Dylan asks her to design the logo for his new helicopter touring company, she agrees as long as it is “business only”.
It doesn’t take long for her to start falling for him again. Dylan never agreed to the rule she set up for their interaction. Tilly doesn’t know how long she can keep the truth to herself… that she never quit loving him. Does love deserve a second chance?
Sweet, easy read for fans of Jill Shalvis. I really enjoyed Leo, the rescue dog. It seemed that once Tilly was won over, Leo decided it was ok to be friendly towards Dylan.
It was a joy seeing Tilly all grown up. The way Jill Shalvis included the foundation of Tilly and Dylan’s relationship from Lost and Found Sisters so that the reader could understand the stakes and see that their relationship is worth fighting for. I honestly could have used a full length novel about them – but that’s because I love the world of Wildstone and Jill Shalvis’ writing so much. 4 out of 5 wine glasses.
I just loved Tilly and Dylan’s story, it was short and sweet. It was also nice to hear that Quinn and Mick are still happy (with 2 kids). Love that Jill Shalvis gave us this chance to know that everything is all good.
I love a good second chance romance. This author always grabs me and sends me into each story. I feel part of the town and enjoy the characters lives.
The story switches back and forth from present day to ten years ago when Tilly was a teen. Her high school sweetheart is back in town and the chemistry is still there. He left to give her a chance to follow her dreams and joined the military. Will she understand and forgive him? I got to the teary eyed part when I was on the train…typically my glasses fogged up. So many emotions in this short and sweet tale, I highly recommend it.
So if you’ve read Lost and Found Sisters by Jill Shalvis you would be very familiar with Tilly and Dylan who in that book were both fifteen and sixteen years old. Well in The Good Luck Sister, these two are all grown up and yes there was a time jump of ten years following the ending of the previous book. I love how Tilly and Dylan’s romance and eventual HEA was dealt with, that they both lived their lives independently and that after the intervening years, meeting up in Wildstone again they finally get their own HEA. They grew up and still made their choice to be with each other again, after a lot of funny moments, sexy moments and some angst that made it a little more special. Of course fan favorites Mick and Quinn make a special appearance. The Good Luck Sister is a definite bonus for fans of Lost and Found Sisters.
This book is a bit of a “be careful what you wish for” type thing for me. I adored Tilly in the first book of this series, Lost and Found Sisters. The relationship she had with Dylan in that story was so full of teen angst and raw emotions. I really wanted them to get their HEA. This story takes place 10 years after the first story so we can see what happened with the two of them. It’s a novella, so pretty short and to the point.
I have no problem with the premise of this story. We quickly learn that Dylan had left town as soon as he graduated, never to contact Tilly again. He had his reasons and they were actually good reasons. Of course, Tilly was devastated and has always carried that rejection with her. This story, of how they find their way back to each other, is really rather sweet. From the moment Tilly and Dylan are in the same room together you know they still have chemistry. But in this story it seemed more like I was being told of their chemistry rather than shown their chemistry. That was quite disappointing to me.
There are a few flashbacks in this story. While I usually don’t have an issue with flashbacks, I felt these were used more for the reader that possibly didn’t read the first story. I say that because the flashbacks were scenes, word for word I believe, from that first book. Usually I feel as though this author puts a lot of time and effort into her writing. Here, I felt she was asked to do a Tilly/Dylan story and fell back on that first book so she didn’t have to take as much time to write this. That’s sad for me to say since Jill Shalvis is truly one of my favorite writers.
Since I know I’m being harder on this story because of my love of the author and how much I adored the first book, it’s still getting a decent rating. Honestly, it’s not a bad story at all. I just had such high expectations. Plus, I am still looking forward to reading the next book in this series. I have no doubt it will be back up to the standard I expect from this author.

This is a novella following the first book in a series. I read it as a standalone and didn’t feel like I was lost, but perhaps could have gotten more out of it with some prior knowledge of the character backstories.
The Good Luck Sister is a super short and sweet story about two people who are clearly meant for each other, but needed to go their own way and figure themselves out before they could be the right, mature fit for each other. Tilly was utterly heartbroken when her lifelong best friend and boy she loved just disappeared into the military after high school graduation. But Dylan was only doing what he thought was best. He wanted Tilly to have her best chance at a future, and that wasn’t him. But now, ten years later, Dylan’s back in town with his life together and he’s ready to do anything to convince Tilly that they can be perfect for each other.
I found this to be a pretty emotional story, mostly because of the flashbacks to younger Dylan’s life and all the emotional and physical trauma he endured at the hands of his father, but Shalvis does an good job of balancing the heaviness with a nice dose of humor and romantic spark between the two main characters. At times, I found Tilly’s sister Quinn to be a bit much, but perhaps I would have a different opinion had I read the first book in the series, her story, and better understood her as a character. I don’t particularly care for stories where one half the couple leaves the other half “for their own good”, but I could understand the reasoning from Dylan’s point of view and found it ultimately made for a good, short second chance romance story.
Tilly and Dylan were best friends as teens. Dylan was abused by his father and Tilly was always there to take care of his wounds (physical and mental). They they fell in love, but Dylan didn’t want Tilly to give up on her future and waste it on him. So, being a man, he just up and left town..no goodbyes, nothing. Saying she was devastated is an understatement.
Fast forward when she’s teaching a graphic design class and there sitting in the front row is her past coming back to haunt her….Dylan. She didn’t see that one coming!! WHY is he still so gorgeous and makes her heart skip beats?!
These two were so in love back as teens. Is Dylan back in town to rip her heart out again? The journey to find out makes this story a must read! This story is so moving! I love second chance romance stories and no one does them as well as Jill Shalvis! A great quick read!!
My favorite part of this story (other than Tilly and Dylan) is at the beginning of each chapter there was wisdom from “The mixed up files of Tilly Adam’s Journal”. They were hilarious and oh so true!!
Tilley is a sweet girl who is just starting out in the world…..Dylan is the boy who broke her heart but came back as a strong man to reclaim it! Sweet quick read that grabs you and doesn’t let go!
