Treat yourself to an “outrageously sexy” (Entertainment Weekly), “fabulously fun” (Jill Shalvis) second-chance romance from the New York Times bestselling queen of hockey romance! Lilah isn’‘t sure what hurt worse: the day Ethan left her to focus on his hockey career or the day he came back eight years later. He might think they can pick up just where they left off, but she’’s no longer that … just where they left off, but she’’s no longer that same girl and never wants to be again.

Classic Helena Hunting. Hockey romance that’ll make you swoon. Heat, angst, and laughs. It’s second chance and friends-to-lovers goodness!!!
Love this one! The ant scene had me dying. The sex is super sexy. The Good Luck Charm
Ethan and Delilah grew up together, inseparable as teenagers, but when Ethan went to college, that started to change. When Ethan was given the opportunity to play professional hockey, he took it and left Delilah behind. Now eight years later, Ethan has been traded back to his home team. This is his second chance, his chance to get Delilah back. Ethan’s sweet talk and persuasive moves keep Delilah caving in to his needs, but what about hers?
Focus is not so much on hockey, but on the relationship of two people who have loved each other a long time.
Loved this 2nd chance romance.
I stayed up until 4:00 am last night re-setting the sleep timer to listen to “just one more chapter”.
I loved both the main characters AND the secondary characters.
I hope Carmen and/or Dr. Lovely have a future book.
I crushed hard on Ethan. He was swoontastic.
Helena’s books just get better and better.
Author Helena Hunting is one of my favorite authors to read especially when it comes to romcoms that have to deal with hockey. Oh who am I kidding. If she writes it…I will read it. And Ethan and DJ or Lilah’s story as she is called 8 years later is as good as the Puck series where I originally found Ms Hunting. In this book we have Ethan a lovable but insecure hockey player who thought he was doing the right thing by breaking up with his high school girlfriend when he got drafted by the NHL. Oh yes this was on advice of his father whom he never listened to in the past. That girlfriend whom he broke up with via phone was DJ or Lilah. She had grown up in his home as one of the family and to lose that well that is hard. She marries another and goes to nursing school. Fast forward 8 years and Ethan’s back in town playing hockey. His dad has a stroke and Lilah is newly divorced. Life is set in motion or is it? What a wonderful read that speaks to real life as so many of us life and know it in the real world. As in true style of Ms Hunting we get lots of good times, reads and of course we get twists and turns. This book is a standalone but I hope we get more from this family in the future as I am wanting Carmen and Dr Lovely and yep I want Emery and have a deep feeling that Tyler Kase fits into her life somewhere in the future.
This book was great, kept my attention and I loved the characters.
Enjoyed this second chance romance between Ethan and Lilah, they have their issues (mainly Lilah) but learn to work them out, it really is a sweet romance read and worth the read!
Okay, now I need to go back and see if I can find mention of our male lead in this book, Ethan, because it says that he played in Chicago with our favorite hockey boys in the Pucked series. But anyway, he’s a bit older, and so it was a nice second chance type of romance. It started out great, I loved how we got two chapters from each character in a row, but then it soon moved to mostly Delilah. With a short chapter from Ethan thrown in when it was necessary to get his side of the story. I loved all the characters in the book though. Loved Ethan’s dad talking about being a grower rather than a shower. We got a very slow burn between Ethan and Delilah, once she finally decided to let him have a second chance. I identified a lot with the whole second chance part of the story, being older myself, I’d love to have certain guys from my past show back up and try something again with them. Not all of them, just a few that I’d be willing to try with. But then again, I’m at a stage in my life and career that I could be okay with devoting a lot of my time to the other person. Unlike Delilah who was just now starting to work on moving her career forward with grad school. Some other things I really liked were how mature Ethan was when Delilah needed to call a “break” or pause as the chapter title says. I was very impressed with that. It shows that the author was taking into consideration the age of the characters and being realistic as opposed to just adding drama for drama’s sake. I liked the twist at the end. Didn’t see it coming, although I had been guessing at what that person could possibly be adding to the story enough to have such a big part. While this isn’t a series, as far as I know, I would definitely love a book for Delilah’s sister Carmen and Dr. Lovely. I need to go hint to the author on social media that she should do that.
I absolutely am a huge fan of Helena and have enjoyed all the books she has written thus far especially the Puked series. This book was a great stand alone.
Lilah and Ethan were childhood sweethearts. Eight years after they broke up, Lilah is working as a nurse in their hometown and Ethan just got traded to a hockey team close to home. What if your first love is your soulmate?
Thru ups and downs and a little ‘luck’, Ethan and Lilah find their way back into each others lives. Along the way you cannot help cheer them on throughout their story and hope they can find that Happily Ever After that both truly deserve
Great book, sports romance NHL. Ethan was just traded back to his home town where he had left his childhood gf Delilah. What I really enjoyed with this book is that Ethan and Lilah each had their own say and we are able to understand and feel each character’s feeling. Though it’s not part of his old “hockey” team series, I truly enjoyed this new book and I look forward to seeing them both in future books. I hope to see Delilah sisters get a book, and Ethan’s brother
Helena Hunting Good Luck Charm is the story of Ethan and Lilah.
Ethan and Lilah were high school sweethearts but when Ethan dream of getting a hockey career he seemed to leave her behind. Lilah stayed close to his family but never getting over the hurt of him leaving leaves her unsettled when she learns he is coming back to town. Lilah hasn’t had anything to easy so she isn’t easily giving up her heart or trust again to quickly but love always wins in the end.
Really enjoyed their story of a second chance at love.
Would easily recommend this book!
Helena striked it again. Amazing book from an amazing author.
It is not the usual funny and loving book, but it is intense and at times very soul searching book. I was glad that she didn’t forgive him too soon. He had to work for it, and I liked it. I fell in love with Ethan, but it bugged me that they didn’t talk to each other properly. He was too clingy and she was too indulgent to him. She bended like he wanted her to.
This story was fresh and an interesting read.
The title makes sense and since I don’t have a good luck charm I didn’t quite understand his obssession.
Well written second chance love story — young love versus adult love.
I love everything about second chance romances and Good Luck Charm by Helena Hunting was just what I needed. Lilah and Ethan’s story is complicated, but it’s full of fun. You see these two navigate a friendship after a family crisis reunites them and watch their story/chemistry grow from there.
Their coming back together was beautiful. It seemed natural and I enjoyed every piece of it. Their love for each other never died, they just had to forgive the past and move on, and see that they could, make it so much better.
Lilan and Ethan’s story was one I could read over and over again.
I love Helena Hunting books. This book was no exception. I found it to be very entertaining and I could not turn the pages fast enough. I love this story but I wish it would have expanded more on Lilah and Carmen finding their father and building the relationship.
What a beautiful second chance love story with all the feels!!
The Good Luck Charm features the story of a love lost and found. Lilah and Ethan were the perfect couple when they were in high school. And even better friends when they were kids. Their relationship was perfect. But when the time to make decisions came, Ethan was gone and Lilah was left with her heart broken. So many years later, Ethan is back in town and Lilah doesn’t know what to do with the news since she is very close to his family. She resists him as much as she can but her feelings are coming back and Ethan is irresistible, with his charm and all *dreamy heart eyes*, and they get back together… But the reasons behind his decisions are revealed and the problems in their relationship from the past come back and they now have to work them and decide if it’s really worth it all or just move on.
I love how their relationship grew stronger this time after so many years of being away from each other. I love how persistent was Ethan to have Lilah back in his life but I wanted to kick him in the balls so many times *chuckles* I love how much she resisted him but when she couldn’t resist him anymore, she was his completely, right like before. But this time their relationship was different and better in so many ways, they had to face fears and truths that were painful but so important for them to finally move on and be completely with each other.
On a light note to the story… The cameos of the Pucked men were perfect!! I WANT MORE LOL I wonder if it was easy for Helena to write those scenes *chuckles*
100% recommended
I LOVE this book! It’s sexy, sassy, and sweet with a huge dose of the feels.
And can we talk about that cover? STUNNING!! My god, if Helena Hunting wasn’t already a #oneclick author for me, I would buy this book just for the cover. In a world full of abs, this stands out like a beacon of light telling readers that it’s okay to be different.
But back to the book. I already mentioned that Hunting is a #oneclick author for me and that’s because she’s exceptional at creating worlds that I want to live in, characters that I want to be friends with. I always feel like I’m part of her stories. I feel the character’s emotions as if they were my own. And boy, did I ever feel emotions in this book which she balanced perfectly with lighthearted and comedic moments.
This is a nice second chance romance. Ethan dumped his first love, Lilah when he went to college and she was a senior in high school. Eight years have past and Ethan is in the NHL and back in Minnesota. Lilah happens to be in the hospital where Ethan’s father is recovering from a stroke. Lilah is finalizing a divorce and Ethan is struggling in his career. The sparks are still there between the two and they rekindle their romance. I really like the main and secondary characters, and the overall story. The only thing that kept this from being a five star review was how Lilah became a bit of a doormat once they started seeing each other again. She seemed to regain her spine in the end and redeemed herself.
Second chance sports romances are some of my absolute favorite stories to read, and ever since I was introduced to Helena Hunting’s books, I can’t get enough of her storytelling, writing, and characters, so the fact that Hunting’s newest release, Good Luck Charm, includes the tropes I love and is crafted by an author who never fails to entertain and indulge, I knew I was in for one great read.
8 years…that’s how long it’s been since childhood best friends and high school sweethearts, Ethan and Lilah, have seen each other after Ethan broke both their hearts, ending things between them just before he entered the NHL Draft, and while it would appear that they’ve both moved forward with their lives creating successful careers for themselves, none of their personal relationships have worked out because they gave their hearts to one another all those years ago.
The circumstances that bring Ethan back home to Forest Lake, Minnesota, complicate his life and his future in significant ways, but Ethan’s biggest game changer is Lilah, which means coming face-to-face with the love of his life, the girl he gave up to follow his dreams, will either put even more pressure on his shoulders or allow him to make amends and work to win back her heart.
What surprised me most about Ethan and Lilah’s story is the fact that, given their history and what they’re up against, it’s not as angst ridden as I thought it would be. Don’t get me wrong, there’s more than a fair share of drama and heightened emotions dominate many scenes throughout the story, but nothing is over-the-top, and for the most part, Ethan and Lilah work through things without overreacting and they find the words to say how they’re feeling, even if it’s not exactly what the other one wants to hear.
I do have to admit that there were a few times in the story where Lilah’s reactions and actions frustrated me, and I felt like she wanted to blame Ethan for things that were very much in her control, even if he was constantly pursuing her and maybe pressuring things to move forward too quickly. I get that the love between them is intense and consuming and it’s easy to lose her own identity by focusing too much on Ethan, but she’s been an independent woman for the 8 years that Ethan was gone, so that balance she’s struggling with can be obtained, but she first has to acknowledge the real reason she keeps putting Ethan’s needs over her own.
It’s absolutely essential to have Ethan’s point of view presented in Good Luck Charm. Being able to hear his internal musings and his true feelings about what happened when he gave Lilah up brings to light just how much he was affected by the break-up and why his feelings for her have never dissipated, regardless of his drive to achieve his goal of becoming a professional hockey player. Throughout the entire book, Ethan is working overtime to make up for the years he lost with Lilah, which more than proves he regrets how things ended and he’ll do anything to have her by his side forever.
The secondary characters, especially Lilah’s sister, Carmen, and Ethan’s mom and dad play pivotal roles in the story line. They help the hero and heroine to work through their past, realize their mistakes, and figure out a way to move forward without allowing anyone or anything to get in their way, especially Lilah and Ethan themselves.
I really enjoyed Good Luck Charm; the story is well paced; the characters are extremely likable and I’m all about couples getting a second chance at love, especially when it’s beyond clear that they belong together like Ethan and Lilah do.
