Treat yourself to an “outrageously sexy” (Entertainment Weekly), “fabulously fun” (Jill Shalvis) second-chance romance from the New York Times bestselling queen of hockey romance! Lilah isn’‘t sure what hurt worse: the day Ethan left her to focus on his hockey career or the day he came back eight years later. He might think they can pick up just where they left off, but she’’s no longer that … just where they left off, but she’’s no longer that same girl and never wants to be again.

This is a great second chance romance with all the feels, sweetness & some handsome hockey players. Loved Ethan & Lilah & so glad they finally had the HEA!
This book captivated me from the very beginning and never let go. A second-chance romance that was powerfully inspiring, emotionally raw, and breathtakingly romantic. Helena Hunting delivered an unforgettable masterpiece with so much heart and soul. With every page I fell deeper in love with Ethan and Lilah and their epic love story. The storyline is incredibly well-written and flowed seamlessly. The twists and turns are a rollercoaster ride of emotions. I could feel everything the characters experienced; the emotions radiated from the pages. The heartfelt moments stole my breath and the heartbreaking ones hit me hard. Their relationship is tested time and again and how they fight for one another was breathtaking. The unconditional love and support of family and friends is beyond words. The wisdom interlaced throughout was inspiring. A powerful story of love, faith and forgiveness that I didn’t want to end! I absolutely loved every second of this stunning story. It is definitely one of my top reads of all time. I highly recommend reading this beautiful love story!
Great book about second chance love story. I also love other characters in this book.
I love a great second chance romance
and this one lived up to the hype!
Low angst. Great example of the
importance of setting (and respecting)
boundaries. The heroine’s personal
journey, in regards to recognizing and
moving forward from past hurt so that
she was more open to loving someone
again, was portrayed in a way that
really resonated with me.
A fantastic second chance romance with all the feels. Chemistry and heat devoured the two best friends when they were young, until one of them decided it was over. Abruptly everything changed and they both traveled the years alone or adrift in their lives until tragedy strikes a loved one and everything changes. The years have gone by bit the feelings never went away. Will they be brave enough to try again? To forgive and move on, together? Or will fear destroy them before they even get started? I loved it. Definitely a must read for any fans of the authors Pucked series, though I felt this one was a little different. A little tragic and a lot heat, but sweet and romantic.
Good story and easy to read while relaxing
Helena Hunting is one of my favorite go-to, One Click button authors when it comes to ice hockey stories. This one was really heart-wrenching-to-heart-melting.
I enjoyed it. It was a second chance of romance with angst still deep within the heroine over Ethan’s departure from before. It was a nice book.
Given that “Good Luck Charm” is about a sports hero romance, I was skeptical at first. Helena Hunting actually told a strong story of how a bad breakup could lead to lost love found. The sexual activity between Ethan and Lilah may be more than one might appreciate, so be warned.
Well written. Funny yet emotional and totally sucked me in. I couldn’t wait to see what happened in the end and yet I wanted to savor the book.
Childhood sweethearts gets a new chance
I love everything about this story! Childhood sweethearts, second chance at THE Love. And how to navigate a life with or without each other, the possibilites and the way we all stumble. I just don’t want to give anything away, but this is a book I will carry with me for a long time. Every book I’ve read by Helena Hunting has that special magic of feeling like you’re right there, everything feels real and credible. Living in her world for a bit is captivating and I never want it to end. My only “but” with this book, and it’s still a 5 star read for me, is that I think the alternative beginning was way better than the one that ended up in the book. Just my opinion, but I read the alternative prologue first and that gave me so much more insight.
It was meh. I didn’t love it or hate it. Just meh. It took me a couple of days to get through it which is so not typical for me with this author. I skimmed some and kept putting it down. Lilah and Ethan didn’t blow me away but it’s fine, I still love all her other books and this one out of the many is just a miss for me.
Not really a second chance romance, same couple kind of girl and here’s why. I feel like your initial reaction is the truest one, so whatever reason you broke up for the first time…probably the correct one. I am a huge Helena Hunting fan, so I thought I’d give it a try. It was a really good book, especially if you like the second chance romances, because she really is a great writer. These two were inseparable high school sweethearts, he being a year older. He gets drafted to a hockey farm team, and since he was having such a hard time without her in college, she being in high school, he breaks it off…over the phone…his “soulmate” *shakes head*. He regrets that after a year, but she is already engaged, having been so heartbroken by their breakup. These two were separated for 8 years, count them, 8 years. And the only reason she showed up on his radar was because of a family member being in the hospital she’s a nurse at. So, these two “soulmates” now have 8 years, multiple girlfriends and an ex-husband between them. Honestly, for me that’s a hell of a lot of baggage. Again some people will love this, because Helena Hunting is an excellent writer…I’m just not a second chance kind of girl. But I will continue my addiction with her Pucked series, thank you very much. There was an epilogue, but they weren’t even married yet, so for me this was more of an hfn.
This was an enjoyable read. I recommend this book and this author.
Love the author, but not my favorite book by her.
I’m really a huge fan of Helena Hunting books and I so excited to read The Good Luck Charm.
After a few chapters I feel so boring and I don’t know how much I skipped the narration.
It’s second romance trope but there is no huge drama in their relationship.
Break up > back together > little problem > break up again > back together and then HEA. That’s it.
Ohhh how I wanted to fall in love with this book. I thought it started off really good with these Lilah and Ethan seeing each other again after Ethan left her and broke her heart. I was all for getting these two back together and Ethan explaining the reason behind him leaving her all those years ago. Lilah was in a lot of pain, but it was clear that they are still very much in love with each other. Ethan is willing to everything in his power to get a second chance with the only girl he’s ever loved.
Then this story gets more complicated than it needed to be and I was just annoyed. Ethan started acting super clingy and overly needy towards Lilah. I’m all for spending time together especially since Ethan was traveling a lot for games. But his rationality was warped. On top of that Lilah was getting angry with Ethan for taking up too much of her time and her inability to tell him no. This caused her schoolwork to suffer and she completely blamed Ethan who she never told her schoolwork was suffering from dropping everything for him. So of course she flips out on him and is blaming him for her “losing herself.” I was so over the story at this point. Also, she becomes super jealous of the puck bunnies. It was extra and unnecessary.
The Good Luck Charm started off really good and I was all for this second chance romance mixed with sports. I would have just liked to read about them getting back together and letting go of the past. The other unnecessary drama and Lilah questioning if she truly wanted to be with Ethan over he schooling was too much. It kinda ruined the story for me as well. This one was just ok for me.

The Good Luck Charm was the perfect blend of heart-felt moments that almost had me tearing up, funny moments, swoon-y moments, and off-the-charts chemistry between our hero and heroine. I couldn’t stop reading once I started. The Good Luck Charm is sexy rom-com at its finest!
Our hero and heroine, Lilah and Ethan, were best friends turned high school sweethearts. The youngest of five kids with only a single mom, Lilah preferred spending most of her time in Ethan’s house growing up. Even after Ethan broke her heart when he broke up with her after high school to pursue his pro-hockey career, she stayed really close with his parents counting them as her second family. When Ethan’s dad suffered from a stroke, Ethan comes back home. From their first meeting after almost a decade, the chemistry and attraction between Lilah and Ethan haven’t disappeared. But, a lot had happened in the years they were apart and Lilah isn’t sure she can trust Ethan again. But, Ethan is determined to show the love of his life that they are worth a second-chance.
I loved Lilah and Ethan right from the start. I loved Lilah’s relationship with Ethan’s parents, how much she cared for them and how they embraced her right back. And Ethan, even though he has a complicated relationship with his dad, loved both of his parents and cared for them. I also liked Lilah’s relationship with her sister, and I hope Carmen will get her own book.
Lilah and Ethan’s romance was to die for. I love, love, LOVE second-chance romance and I read a lot of them, so sometimes they kind of get all jumbled in my mind. But, The Good Luck Charm was just so good, just a level above that it’s going to live on my favorites shelf. Like I said, it’s just a perfect blend of everything good: humor, angst, swoons and feels, steamy sexy times all wrapped in Helena Hunting’s unputdownable writing style.
If you’re a fan of rom-com contemporary romance, especially second-chance reunion romance, The Good Luck Charm is a must-read! Highly recommended!
