A quarterback who doesn’t want therapy and a therapist who doesn’t want a quarterback! Dax Brady, quarterback for the Texas Titans, only wants to be left alone after losing the championship game to go on his annual fishing trip. He doesn’t want to attend a Bachelor Auction, he doesn’t want to deal with his family issues, and he really doesn’t want to be forced into working with some woman who … who clearly doesn’t know how to help him. Not that he does!
Sky Brooks only came back to Dallas to collect the money her father left for her after he passed a year ago. Too bad the man in charge of the trust won’t let her have it—unless she agrees to take on one last patient—Dax Brady. Pfft! What is she supposed to do with a cocky football player who keeps telling her to take her he doesn’t need help?
When Dax and Sky end up in Puerto Rico doing ‘untraditional’ therapy in the form of building houses for Hurricane victims, Dax is surprised that Sky isn’t like any other woman he’s ever known. When he finds himself pouring out his heart to her, he’s even more surprised, when she shares some of her own secrets.
When the past comes back to haunt them, they are left with a choice–give up on forgiveness or let love conquer all.

I typically enjoy novels written by Taylor Hart, but “The Good Groom” was on another level and I loved every minute of it. I normally feel as if a novel has been rushed or is missing something from the overall story line; however, I never felt that way with this book. Each of the characters were well developed, as well as the plot behind each one of them. There was not a person in this story that didn’t belong, and it was so refreshing to know each of their stories and how they went together.
Interesting book about a football quarterback Dax Brady, who was second string, but due to an injury is bumped to starting QB. Due to family situations, he blows the Super Bowl game, and the manager requires him to go for therapy with Sky Brooks. She had left practicing when her father died, but agrees to try to help Dax. They end up in Puerto Rico working on houses, and helping each other. A heartwarming story about trusting God, and family issues.
Dax is a quarterback who needs some counseling and Sky is the therapist who gets assigned to help him. When they meet neither one wants to be where they are but both are in need of something from each other. Loved this story with great characters.
Two people that need help. They learn they can help each other achieve their goals & find love in the process. It’s a nice, short story that is enjoyable. I received a free copy. This is my voluntary opinion.
I enjoyed this romance there was a touch of football, some therapy, some missions, and healing. I enjoyed getting to know the Brady family as this is my first book with them. I’m excited to read more.
There is something about Taylor Hart’s football romance books that sucks you right into the heart of the story with witty dialogue, broken and hurting yet heroic characters, and fun plot. This story is no exception. It’s relatively short so can be read in one sitting. This Texas Titan story involves its second-string quarterback Dax, who has a lot of emotional baggage and needs his mental and emotional button reset if he wants to be the starting quarterback. Dax is loyal, kind, compassionate, and tender; he’s immediately lovable from the first page. He’s forced to spend time with Sky, a therapist who’s given up on counseling and now builds homes in Puerto Rico. Sky also has some painful past that she hasn’t let go of yet and the two learn about vulnerability and forgiveness as their friendship and attraction grow. It’s a clean romance; although cursing is mentioned in the narrative, there aren’t actual words written. I really enjoyed the way the author weaved characters from previous books into the story and am hoping that Dax’s four brothers will have stories of their own soon.
I received a copy of the book from the author and was under no obligation to post a review. All comments and opinions are solely my own.
