“I’ve been following her for the past few days. I know where she buys her groceries, where she has her dry cleaning done, where she works. I don’t know the color of her eyes or what they look like when she’s scared. But I will.”
One night, Mia Dennett enters a bar to meet her on-again, off-again boyfriend. But when he doesn’t show, she unwisely leaves with an enigmatic stranger. At first Colin Thatcher seems like a safe one-night stand. But following Colin home will turn out to be the worst mistake of Mia’s life.
When Colin decides to hide Mia in a secluded cabin in rural Minnesota instead of delivering her to his employers, Mia’s mother, Eve, and detective Gabe Hoffman will stop at nothing to find them. But no one could have predicted the emotional entanglements that eventually cause this family’s world to shatter.
An addictively suspenseful and tautly written thriller, The Good Girl is a propulsive debut that reveals how even in the perfect family, nothing is as it seems.

I used to read these online mystery “twists” – short stories where the end upended the story (and generally gave the back guy a comeuppance). I feel like this is what Mary Kubica was doing here. I thought the actual story itself was good, and the way the story was told (from multiple POVs and some before and some after the climax) was really …
The Good Girl was a very slow start to me at first, but towards the 2nd half as we switch point of views and the story progresses secrets are revealed. My favorite part of the book is how the title fits into the book, and the final twist is shocking, vengeful, yet justice all in one. Even in the perfect family nothing is how it seems.
No Gone Girl
Loved the way this book unfolded, with chapters alternating between the “before” time and “after” time!
An unexpected twist, and believable characters. Great book!
Couldn’t put it down
Loved the story being told (well) from different characters’ points of view, and from the “before” and “after” timeframes, yet remaining surprising. Still thinking about it – and them – weeks later.
Terrible! I forced myself to finish it because….well, I’m not a quitter. However, I can’t say enough bad things about this book. It is nothing like Gone Girl (great book!) It’s extremely predictable, and they’re are a lot of unnecessary racial under tones. I recommend you read literally anything else: Gone Girl, In Cold Blood, the back of a …
Extremely haunting!!! I LOVED this book!!! I am a voracious reader and it is one of the most engaging books that I have read. The ending is unpredictable. I thought it would be like Gone Girl. It is not. It definitely stands on its own.
Surprise ending. (Been done before; however, I didn’t expect this ending.)
I enjoyed reading the events from the perspective of the different characters as they alternated the narrative.
I truly like books written from several points of view. It seemed pretty straight forward until the very end where there is a major twist. This is my first book of this author and I would like to read more of her books!
Excellent
For all the hype regarding this title, I found it extremely hard to maintain interest. It would not surprise me that I gave up on it right before something finally happened but really . . . . .
IF you’re bored with nothing else to do, maybe you may find something interesting in it. However, after four chapters of little or nothing, it is not …
Actually, I listened to The Good Girl on Audible rather than as a paged book or on Kindle. That said, it was a book with excellent characters, and written from several different characters’ point of view. With Audible, it was a little harder to follow the progression, because each section or chapter would be told during a particular time or date. …
Very Jodi Picoult-like. Not worth the emotional slip on the banana.
I was surprised by the ending and I usually figure out these things before the end. This is a great read.
This was an interesting book.
Fantastic. I could not put it down! Highly recommendable…
Interesting story told in an interesting format. Love books that end with a unique twist.
