“A story of choices and events so intimate I felt I was part of it. The novel is wrenching, the emotions radiant, and it will leave readers transformed”—Luanne Rice, author of The Deep Blue Sea for Beginners
“Joyce Maynard has outdone herself in this beautifully written story you’ll find hard to put down and impossible to forget.”— Elizabeth Berg, author of The Last Time I Saw You

WONDERFUL BOOK! BEST I’VE READ SO FAR FOR 2021!
Couldn’t put it down from page one. Wonderful story like nothing I’ve ever read. A secret held for 50 years, you realize what it is but need to know the why.
A Satisfying Read
The story takes place in perhaps the late fifties and moves foward chronicling the lives of Ruth and Dana, two daughters born on the same day to different families. It also delves into the uneasy relationship they both have with their mothers.( Don’t we all?)
While on the surface, this doesn’t sound like a page turner plot, …
I completely enjoyed this book. It does start a little slowly, introducing a whole bunch of characters all at once, but once you get those straightened out, the book is a breeze to read. It struck me as reading a series of conversations, or diary entries, and each one shares so much useful information about the various characters. It really helped …
Loved the author; loved the characters! It was a quick and fun read. A little slow at times, but not terrible. I related to some of the story but figured out the plot twists at the beginning of the book so it was not as exciting as a book I need to “figure out”!
Great characters. Interesting read!
This is an ok book in my opinion. It is about 2 families that are in their own way dysfunctional. It is just ok
Easy to read.
It is flawed in the premise of the story, but is well written and has interesing characters.
I loved this book! It was a good story and I could relate to it’s time period. The story just flowed and held my interest from start to finish. I now have to read more of her novels.
No thanks!

Ruth Plank is an artist and a romantic with a rich, passionate, imaginative life. The last of five girls born to a gentle, caring farmer and his stolid wife, she yearns to soar beyond the confines of the land that has …
This book is a tale of family relationships, acceptance, finding yourself, and, most of all, love. When two babies born on the same day and in the same hospital are switched at birth, the lives of the ‘birthday sisters’ are impacted dramatically as each one grows up feeling like she doesn’t belong. Since there are numerous hints that neither …
