Holy cow. Karin Slaughter writes an amazing story that pulled me in from the beginning and never once let go. A new favorite author of mine. Tying two horrific events together – once current, one past – the Quinn family becomes the spotlight yet again. Charlie Quinn is following in her father’s footsteps and defending those that no one else will touch. When a girl is arrested as the obvious shooter at a school that left a young girl dead, Charlie thinks there may be more to it.
But this rabbit hole runs deeper than anyone knows. The truth will eventually come to light, but not before many lives are torn apart, old wounds re-opened, and past wrongs are forgiven. The story is full of revelations, most of which I didn’t completely see coming.
Superbly in-depth characters and a plot full of suspense and tension, I hope to see more in this new series soon.
*I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of this book*
Wow, wow, wow!! This book blew me away!! I’ve read a couple books by this author in the past so I had very high expectations when I started this one, I wasn’t disappointed. The story was very suspenseful, intriguing and detailed but in a way that made it very easy to follow and get sucked into. The twists, turns and revelations had me on the edge of my seat, white knuckling my kindle the entire time.
Another amazing story by Karin Slaughter!!!
I think that it is her best book to date.
Very engaging. Could not put it down.
Couldn’t put it down.
I love her books and The Good Daughter was exceptional. The characters feel real and I wanted to know what happened next.
Karen Slaughter delivers a GOOD book every time. I’ve been reading her work for years and have enjoyed hours of great entertaining stories. This book is gripping from the first few pages and had me reading well past midnight. It only took me about 3 days to devour it. 🙂 She moves the story along at a fast pace, but also gives the reader time to reflect on what she is presenting. Tale of two sisters and the tragedies that bound the together and tore them apart. Excellent book.
Charlie and Sam’s lives are turned upside down when their mother is murdered in front of them then the murderers do horrific things to them. Twenty-eight years later, Charlie is involved in another horrific event and Charlie’s husband calls Sam home – telling her that her sister needs her. Sam returns home and gets involved in the case – more than she wanted. As the case begins to unfold, Sam and Charlie begin to resolve their differences and work together. A great story that keeps the reader guessing as the plot unfolds. Will be reading more Karin Slaughter books!
Couldn’t wait to get back to this book
Now, this was the first book I have read by Karin Slaughter and it was also a very enjoyable experience.
first I will say that The Good Daughter was totally different to what I was expecting but this was so not a bad thing for me.
I’m a sucker for a good psychological thriller, but I also love the drama that comes with a good ole family saga, This story brilliantly combined these two elements giving us an insight into the fallout that comes when horrific tragedy strikes an ordinary family and how these dynamics can spiral, taking on a life of their own through miscommunication and prideful behaviour.
The outcome of this incident echoing down the unfolding decades.
This story describes the events that occur to the Quinn family, resulting in a death and two young teenagers with scars both physically and figuratively for life.
Samantha and Charlotte’s lives are about to come full circle when events in their home town bring them along with their father together again.
This was a very easy read, that kept you guessing until the end, the graphic descriptions both pulled you in while equally repelling you with the realness behind the visuals provided.
I’m not easily grossed out but MAN!!! it was way EWW!!! in places.
So, in conclusion, I would definitely give The Good Daughter a big thumbs up, a very intriguing read.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an advanced reader copy it was thoroughly devoured by me, this is my own personal opinion of this book.

This book got me hooked from the very beginning. It was a page turner, and new questions kept popping up in my mind as I read. The characters were unlike people I know, but they interested me and evoked my empathy. The story is based around these characters who were part of two widely spaced and very tragic events.
Can’t beat a Karin Slaughter novel!!
Good reading as usual
Violent and horrific. Be prepared.
I love all her books, always a good read
Excellent
Loved the story
love Karin Slaughter and she did not disappoint
Couldn’t stop reading. Interesting play on family dynamics, character flaws and the legal system.
