Great story, riveting.
This book had me at the edge of my seat. It had me feeling for each of the characters and their point of views. And how my heart broke for these girls when at every turn it seemed like they were always left in the dark about a night that forever altered their lives.
Could not put this book down.
Love this book and author.
Considered a stand-alone but I hope that more books will be on the way. This is another plot that keeps going back and forth from past to present, connecting the two. I did get a bit tired of the repetition of information, pretty much verbatim, but I just skimmed through it. Hopefully most of the emotional trauma and consequential emotional problems have been resolved because the ending promises more stories involving the main character Charlotte “Charlie” Quinn and her lovable husband Ben Bernard.
This is a dark and twisted story of past horrors, the scars trauma leaves, abuse, murder, dysfunctional families and warped minds. The narrator does a good job of imparting the darkness in the story and giving the characters individual voices. This is a disturbing and yet compelling story with lots of surprising twists.
Karin always has a good story to tell this one has a different spin
Her books are always great, this one did not disappoint. Loved it.
This was my favorite of the three I have read by Karin. I will read this again!!!
This is a book that will keep you reading late into the night. Great characters with a lot of twists in the plot that makes the book hard to put down.
Karin Slaughter is incredible, and she does it again with this book. Loved the characters, the details, and the surprises just kept coming. Several jaw dropping moments where I just knew if anyone was watching my face they would see the shock and awe!
I have yet to read a Karin Slaughter book I didn’t love, and this is no exception. 100% recommend!
Excellent thriller. If you are offended by some language, this isn’t the book for you.
This book was entertaining, but I found some scenes truly disturbing- and I am not particularly squeamish.
I have read it twice and will read it again
Traumatizing but I just couldn’t put it down.
I’ve read this book three times, loved it that much.
Karin Slaughter crafts a story the way a vintner crafts a great wine–complex with unexpected nuances and a fine finish.
This book and this author are sensational. Slaughter held me every second.
An excellent read. Would have been a 5 star except for the author’s repeated use of repetitive descriptive paragraphs describing the scenes from the characters’ memories. It was a distracting device and added nothing but pages to an otherwise fascinating story.
I enjoyed this book from the very first page till the last. It kept you on your toes and it had me constantly thinking that I didn’t see that coming at all!!! I love books like this and I am so glad I decided to read it.
This book had a promising start. It goes back and forth between past and present, so it takes some time to get all of the information about the events in the past that formed these characters. That is when I found the past actions of the characters (living in the same house – or even in the same town – where terribly traumatic events occurred; not reporting, confronting, or punishing perpetrators) bizarre and unrealistic. I cannot believe that any father would do what the father in this book did after what happened to his daughters. I had high expectations based on reviews of this book and this author’s reputation, but I was disappointed.
