Finn and Callisto. Their destinies are forever entwined from the time they are children. Finn is driven by revenge, Calli by the desire to right the wrongs done by her family. When the two collide, there are fireworks! Drawn to each other, yet both so mistrustful. In true LM Halloran fashion, we are treated to a rollercoaster of emotions. Finn is so engulfed in his quest for revenge that the fact that he is attracted to the daughter of his nemesis throws him into a tailspin. What he thought was true is suddenly questionable. I love some of the secondary characters (hello, Grace!) But by far my favorite character is Calli. Growing up within a family with a dubious moral compass (to say the least), she is kind and strong and good, and I love that we get to see how she does what she thinks is right even though she is scared and uncertain. Surprises await, and believe me, you will be glad you came along for the ride!
What a pleasant surprise!!!
Nothing makes me happier than finding new authors and books with plots like this one has.
The Golden Hour by L.M Halloran is such an intriguing, raw, angsty and unconventional story that grabbed me from the first page.
Sometimes, I don’t read blurbs because I’m scare to death that they can give away something about the story but, I was so hooked with the teasers that I told myself I had to read it ASAP without more delay.
The plot of this book was extremely tantalizing. I was fascinated with all the family drama and the mysteries contained in the story. It was impossible not feel excited while reading this book.
Every time I thought I just had got it all figured out, this author proved me wrong and suddenly I was more lost than before.
The sequence of events definitely left me biting my nails like my life depended on it. The twists and turns in the story had me on edge every single time. I honestly can say I didn’t see coming some of the scenes in the book. I was completely in shock when I found out what was happening and immediately, a smile tugged up one side of my mouth. The reason was obvious. I just knew I had found a pretty impressive author.
“We forgot everything but each other”
I love love to read about strong female characters that learn about themselves along the way and show that vulnerability that makes them look REAL in all the sense of the word. That’s how Callisto is. She was fragile at moments but, most of all, she was determined and kind.
“I know who you are”, he murmurs, then kisses me softly. “And who you are has nothing to do with your name”
OMG!!! My poor ovaries are dead at the moment. Finn is the ultimately HOT MALE CHARACTER EVER. His compassion and his hero complex, makes him unique in a very beautiful way. Overcoming the worst lost a child can face, his goal of seeking revenge leads him to the arms of Callisto and slowly they learn how similar they are and how together they can beat the odds.
The world building, the character development, the flawless writing, the impressive attention to details will make you come back for more of Halloran’s stories.
This is a book that I couldn’t put down and I am so eager for the next books by this author.

What can I say about The Golden Hour? Honestly, the best way to read this book is by knowing as little as possible. I’ve never read this author before, and I’m glad to have discovered her work. So, here are Finn and Calli, inextricably linked, yet unaware, of their intertwined fate. I don’t believe in fate as a rule, but this story has the criss crossing that is undeniable. They are damaged goods and dead set on revenge, justice and straight up karma come calling. Calli is an excellent female lead, possessed of the embodiment of gravitas and vengeance. Finn is determined and strong, yet weakened at times by fate beyond his control in this woman. I loved and loathed these characters simultaneously. People get what they deserve, right? Maybe and maybe not. It’s a terrible and fantastic ride through this knife edge story of love, loss, revenge, betrayal, lies and redemption. I wanted justice for all the wrongs. I wanted romance for Finn and Calli. I held my breath and walked away from it a few times. I will say no more lest I u2063u2063
ruin it for you. (Except that I recommend reading this book!)u2063u2063

First book by L.M. Halloran and she did a fantastic job. This is definitely a 5 Star Read. I loved that you got all the feels in this book. My heart broke for the difficult circumstance the H/h were in. I loved that their relationship grew for each other and any situation can be overcome with love. I can’t wait to read more from this author.
This is not at all what I expected from L.M Halloran. This was way better!!
I absolutely love the world she built around these characters. Two souls were shattered 19 years ago. Now those two souls come together unexpectedly and must decided what to believe and do with each other.
L.M. shows Callisto’s vulnerability morph into an incredible strength she uses to go against her family. She’s this amazing woman who goes against them to fight for what’s right legally and morally. Coming from a family people would consider heartless and cold blooded, she turns about to be beautiful inside and out with a big heart, wanting to do what’s right.
Finn is amazing. You can’t help but feel bad for him as he lashes out at Callisto. The amount of pain and resentment he holds against the Avellinos, it’s not hard to empathize with him. He soon realizes his anger and hate is misplaced and the love the blooms between him and Callisto is one for the stars!
Once I started reading I couldn’t put it down! I love Finn. Callisto is such a great heroine. I love them together, such great chemistry. Love all the plot twist. You definitely won’t be disappointed.
This book was SO GOOD!!!!
The Golden Hour was my first read by this author and OH EM GEE… I am smitten!!!
I loved, loved, loved Finn.
He usually gets what he wants.
He wants revenge.
Calli is the perfect, strong heroine for him. Their chemistry was instant and it was HOT.
They need each other.
They use each other.
All while trying not to fall for each other.
Lies and secrets.
Twists and turns.
Deception and murder.
This well-written story was addictive and intense and full of nail-biting, suspenseful goodness that had me on the edge of my seat.
This book knocked my socks off.
I cannot wait to read more from Ms. Halloran!
Finn’s always been fascinated by the little girl he saw in court. She looked blank. He didn’t feel blank, though. No, he felt rage and wanted vengeance for his father’s murder. The murder he blamed her father for. And that’s why they were in court when he first saw her. Because her dad was on trial for killing his dad. Yep…
Now, years later he sees a fascinating, gorgeous goddess in the bar in the little town where his mother and aunt have settled. So he intends on spending the night with her. And he would have had she not blurted out her name – Callie. Short for Callisto. The little girl whom he hated. The little girl who had grown into a beautiful woman. The little girl who had disappeared years ago. What’s a man set on vengeance to do when he sees the object of his fascination and his contempt? Use her of course!
Except not because things happen, feelings develop. And Finn and Callisto will have to contend with more than either had ever anticipated before it all comes to an end. Will they get their happy ever after? Will Finn choose vengeance over love? Will they even make it out alive?
I loved The Golden Hour! It’s rife with tension and secrets. The action is non-stop at points, and Finn and Callie’s journey was just so completely addicting reading. I cannot wait for more from this author!
***ARC received for an honest review***
Immediately after reading the first paragraph of The Golden Hour, I knew this book was going to take me on an emotional roller coaster and even then I was not prepared for the ride.
Finn and Calli were two complex characters whose lives were intertwined by tragedy. They were both running from their families but for very different reasons; one was driven by fear and the other by revenge. What they didn’t expect is for that fear to turn into strength and revenge into love. Calli and Finn were so much more alike that they thought. They were both fighting for the same thing; the same thing that put them and those they loved in extreme danger, yet they were willing to risk their lives to stop a family empire of crime.
I LOVED the chemistry between Finn and Calli. It was explosive especially because they were two people who should detest one another. They were two people who should not be together, but sometimes love overpowers it all and you cannot control what your heart wants. This book had me taking breaks so I can hyperventilate because there were times that I was so afraid for Calli and Finn. I don’t want to say too much and spoil anything because this is one of those books that you really cannot predict what is going to happen next. There were definitely plot twists I did not expect at all, but they were some intense plot twist that will have you gasping a little for air.
L.M. Halloran is a new author for me and I am so grateful for the chance of have received an Advanced Reader’s Copy of this book because I became an instant fan and am now going to go back and read The Illusions Duet and her other books.
Ahhh!! Exquisitely dark and twisted!!A rollercoaster of a ride filled with angst!! Soooo freaking good!!
ARC received for an honest review. Thank you.
Callisto is on the run from her family and she found a place where to stay and to be safe. She loves her new home and the people around her until Finn. He ruined her peace and forced her to take a decision.
Finn wants his revenge and he will do anything for that. When he meets Callisto, he sees an opportunity to use Callisto to get his revenge. Callisto accepts to help Finn because she knows that is the right thing. Together makes a team bring down the family Avellino.
‘I love the taste of him, the effortless way we kiss, like our bodies aren’t learning but remembering each other.’
You can feel their chemistry and need for each other but both of them put their feelings aside to realize their plans. Their relationship is complicated because of their past but their feelings are stronger than all the things that keep them apart. Together found the courage to confront their past and to fight for justice.
This is my second book by L.M. Halloran and I can say that I will read more from her. L. M. Halloran wrote a tale about revenge, twists, and mystery. I enjoyed The Golden Hour.
HOLY FUCKN COW!! SPEECHLESS!! JUST SPEECHLESS!! L.M. HALLORAN DID IT AGAIN with THE GOLDEN HOUR!!! What an Epic Suspenseful Emotional Rollercoaster Ride of Mysterious Surprises!!
Finn and Calli’s Storytelling was like a Crime Movie Thriller and DEVOURED it in One Sitting!! The Sexual Tension between the two were OFF the Charts HOT then throw in Some Old Family History in the Mix.
Hate is Such A Strong Word but that’s how Finn saw Calli but also find something else that he DID NOT see Coming. This Ememies-to-Lovers book had me Intrigued from the Very Beginning with its intense dark secrets but with TWISTS and TURNS INTO the UNKNOWN that Have your Jaw Dropping several times!!
If You had NOT Read Any of her Books….What are you Waiting for?! THE GOLDEN HOUR is Definitely Must Read Book and Will NOT DISAPPOINT YOU if you Start reading Halloran’s World of Words!! This Book was like Reading a Drama Movie Unfolding Before Your Eyes!!
If you haven’t read a book by LM Halloran, do NOT wait any longer and just one click The Golden Hour.
Finn and Callisto’s story was one that I literally could not put down. I lost sleep and lost myself in the pages right from the beginning. Her books are full of suspense and even a ton of darkness. Normally I am not one that enjoys that type of book, but her writing is just truly captivating and addicting.
I cannot say enough good things about this book, and don’t want to give anything away. You won’t regret being tired at work tomorrow after reading The Golden Hour!
Oh, How Sweet It Is To Get Finn’s Story!!!
Finn has always left me curious being friends with Gideon from the Illusions Duet.
This book is full of suspenseful moments and the chemistry between Callisto and Finn is on .
Callisto and Finn have one thing in common they want revenge and it’s revenge towards the same family that scarred Finn for life and tormented Callisto since she was a child.
They find themselves planning a take down that will finally put to the light the evilness of a family and their desire to rule.
Laura will not disappoint you with The Golden Hour!
Forced into the courtroom because of the actions of others, for she is the daughter of the accused and he the son of man who lost his life.
His sentencing changed her life, took her down a path that brought her to becoming invisible.
The loss of his father brought him anger and a need, a thirst to bring the whole family down.
Now her invisibility has worn off, and his anger simmers steadily. Can they work together for the greater good?
Oh wow what an amazing addictive read!
I couldnt step away from the words. I was completely and utterly gripped yet aghast and shocked at the family deeds and wrong doings.
The way the story is written is magical. The characters lure you in with a promise of bedroom antics and glorious retribution, but what holds you is the drip fed information.
I was constantly desperate for just a little more information, a little more action and then my gosh I got my wish!
Finn the photographer, is all seeing, but let him loose and he will ruin your heart ladies!
Callisto is the girl they all underestimated and cast aside. She’s stronger than she looks and she is true to her word, well most of the time!
This book is one that not only promises you greatness it more than delivers it too.
L.M Halloran writes books that have your senses tingling and your heart jumping for joy. Priceless!
Right from the get go of the first few pages, I knew I wouldn’t want to put this book down. Dark, suspenseful, mysterious and full of revenge and so much more to keep you hooked to this story. The Golden Hour is the kind of book I absolutely love and crave. One that has dynamic characters, intrigue and a love story that is completely unexpected. L.M. Halloran gave me all of that and more as I devoured every single page.
Gripping, right from the first page, Callisto and Finn’s tale starts scorching hot. There is a mistaken identity, and then shocking truths are revealed. Finn and Callisto are two lost souls whose lives have been affected by deceit, murder and revenge. But what was completely unexpected, was the undeniable connection they felt towards each other. This incredibly addictive book definitely kept me hooked in its gripping entirety.
Halloran has written one heck of rollercoaster ride with The Golden Hour. The beauty in her words, conveying a story and theme much bigger than what’s on the pages. I can’t wait to see where she takes us next.
Ever been so enthralled in a book the rest of the world disappears? That’s what this book did to me! I started reading before work and would not put it down until I was done. Nothing would/could take me away from this read. It was a fast read but I loved every minute of it.
5 INTENSE STARS!! Wow….this book is PERFECTION!! It was so intense with all that was going on and had me turning pages. I love dark stories with fabulous characters….I devoured this book. Grab it now!!
I’m so in love with Finn. Enemies because of who their family is, but the connection so strong. Finn and Calli have been tethered to each other since they were kids. They want the same things but they are not trying to help each other out. This is an amazing story.
LM has outdone herself again! Loved reading about Callie and Finn! You definitely need to read LM’s books. I haven’t read a bad one yet!
