We were meant to hate each other…I’ve never wanted a man like I want Finn McCowen. His proposition? One night together, no strings attached.Everything is perfect… time my sisters were free of them, too.
Finn can help me if he wants, but first he has to accept:
I may want him, but I don’t need him.
In this story, the princess saves herself.

I loved Finn in the ‘Illusions Duet’, so I was happy to see he was getting his own book. Don’t worry though, this book can be read as a standalone.
Finn meets Callisto in a chance meeting when he stops by a bar she works at on his way to see his Aunt. He so intrigued by her and things turn steamy quickly. I loved that both characters didn’t have any hesitation, although, when Finn realises who Callisto is, in the heat of the moment no less, things get cold pretty quick.
Callisto faked her death six years previous to escape her evil family. Her dad murdered Finn’s dad and he has since held onto so much hate for her family. Callisto knows that her family is corrupt and wants to help bring them down and they both start to work together to achieve this, while Callisto comes out of hiding.
Callisto’s character was strong and she had so much courage going up again her family knowing she could get caught and ultimately killed, but she knew justice had to be served. She also wanted to save her sisters from the corrupt life they were in.
Finn was a little more tainted in this book, he’s sad and still hasn’t moved on from his fathers death and needs justice for him. He was funny though and he did make me laugh, I loved all his innuendos and he definitely made me swoon.
This was a good storyline, I loved reading all the ways her family was corrupt. It was an intense dark read that I love and had everything I enjoy, suspense, mystery, drama and twists and turns, this book did not disappoint especially with the twist near the end. Although this is only my third read from Halloran, she is an author who vividly paints a picture with her words and I can full immerse myself in their world.
A must read for sure.

Finn first saw Callisto when she was 5 in court after her father was sentenced for murdering his father.
Neither is aware who they are when they prepare to hook up until she mentions her name is Calli & not Grace.
He needs her but is she strong enough to help both families.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
I loved this story so much! There are not enough stars to rate it! Sigh, FIN! He is one of my favorite charters to date! I have been intrigued by Fin since I read the Illusions Duet. Let me tell you, L.M. Halloran did not disappoint. This book was action packed with twist I did not see coming. Callie was such a fierce character, she was so strong. I love a woman who is not a doormat and can take care of herself. I dont want to give anything away so i am not going to go into detail about anything but I can tell you that you will not be disappointed. I cant wait to see what L.M. Halloran has for us next!
This book was amazing!! Intense, suspenseful, hot! Finn and Callisto’s love wasn’t easy but nothing worth it ever is. I couldn’t put it down. A page turner for sure!!
Wonderful new book!
If you haven’t read this lady’s work yet, you really need to rectify that immediately. Oh, it’s no romp in the park or frolic with puppies, that’s for sure. Yes, it’s dark, but with the rich, delicious decadence of the finest dark chocolate that melts its way into your soul. Her words paint a picture, create a tapestry that wraps around the reader and carries her along in the unstoppable tide of a spellbinding story. A story full of wretchedly flawed, heartbreakingly beautiful, mesmerizing characters, characters who possess the reader until she is powerless but to live and experience and gasp her way through their journey to the final page.
Some things are written in the stars, and Finn and Callisto’s lives have been bound and entwined since they were children. Since her father killed his father. Since he first laid eyes on her during a court proceeding when he was eleven and she was five. But it’s not until adulthood that their orbits collide, and what follows is a shocking and twisted but fated journey of revenge, deception, justice and finally, redemption.
Halloran pulled out all the stops on this one, filling the pages with beautiful imagery, chilling foreshadowing, powerful analogies and what I suspect is an eerily accurate portrayal of power, corruption and politics. This story has so much depth and so many layers I still haven’t climbed back out sufficiently to clearly articulate my feelings.
I was already more than a little intrigued by Finn from his previous appearance, but it’s Calli who captivated me, bewitched me and owned my heart. Her courage, strength, determination and sense of right and wrong are both magnificent and humbling and, as you might suspect, she brought Finn to his proverbial knees with no effort at all.
Expect fireworks. It’s a Halloran novel, after all. The chemistry, heat and complicated romance we’ve come to expect are all present and accounted for, and it’s sinfully delicious. And the metaphor of Calli and Ursa Major? So exquisite and powerful and so darn perfect it still gives me chills.
This is a story full of hidden gems, the kind that the reader mines anew each time she reads the book. With paramount messages as timely today as they will be a hundred years from now, this book goes to the head of my top five reads for the year. Make this book a part of your permanent collection, and then prepare yourself. Once you’ve read TGH, you’ll find yourself raving about it to all your book-loving friends.
This is my first L.M Halloran book. Goodness gracious, where have I been living!? Under a rock perhaps. The Golden Hour was so freaking good. Everything about this book had me captivated. The characters and their chemistry was epic. Callisto and Finn were hot together! I enjoyed all the suspense and mystery the author delivered as I was lost within the story. I especially love how Calli is a bad A woman! This is a highly recommended read!!
In my opinion there really isn’t a review in the world to convey just how amazing Finn’s story is. It is a darker tale of revenge with some twists that leaves you with your mouth gaping and wishing there was more. I hated the fact that life got in the way and I had to stop reading. It is a story that makes you will lose several hours of your day because you cannot put it down. Finn and Callisto suck you in and quickly became two of my favorite characters. Add this to your TBR immediately and then move it up the list.
The Golden Hour has certainly shone brightly in the spotlight and left me captivated from the start to the end.
I’ve had the honour of getting glimpses and pieces of Finn in Halloran’s previous Illusions Duet and I yearned for more of him and his story.
Boy was I thrilled when he finally had his story and I dove into this like a kid on Christmas morning and it certainly didn’t disappoint.
This story was fast paced, packed with suspense, mystery and a few land mind of surprises that will leave you hanging onto your seat in awe.
I couldn’t get enough of my Finn and I absolutely loved him.
Both Finn and Callisto both shared tortured and dark pasts and everything isn’t what it seems on the surface. Everything unravels as the truth emerges and you’re left awestruck.
I loved that Callisto wasn’t your average rich spoilt princess and was rough around the edges and strong.
The only thing I wished for was for it to be a bit more darker and Finn a bit more unhinged and intense. I love him either way!!
I won’t delve into details as it’s up to the reader to uncover everything and certainly this is a read that you won’t be able to put down and will leave you wanting more!!
To my shame this is my first book by the author but I just couldn’t stop reading after the first chapter.
The writing is rich and keeps you glued to your seat without even knowing and what a ride overall!
Finn and Callisto each have a past and a future to look up for.
The story takes us through unexpected moments of lust, lies and truths that will change their life as they knew it.
There are many moments when you think you know where the story takes you next but actually you don’t because there are twists and turns that all together make for a great book that you just won’t want to stop demanding more and more of it.
Love it and can’t recommend it enough.
Once again LM Halloran has left me utterly speechless. The Golden Hour is an addictive, intense book that makes you fall in love with the characters and aching for more. The writing is simply captivating and the I could not put it down. Halloran has taken it to another level with the story of Finn and Calli in this enemies to lovers’ novel full of drama, suspense, twists and turns. One of the best reads of 2019, hands down! If you have not read anything by LM Halloran, now is the time to start!
