Loved this book
I couldn’t get into this book
I loved this book! One of my favorites. I’ve recommended to others. Very funny and entertaining. Definitely 5/5!
Boredom about a lonely woman who suddenly hit it big with her first novel and whose naivete, white-lies, and lack of minimal life-experience traps her in an untenable situation bordering the idiotic. Just one thing out of the many, because I quit reading on page 48. The author of the big hit novel celebrated for getting an over 2.00 million pounds (sterling that is) in a party with more than 50 distinguished guests cannot invite a friend to come with her, get this, because the caterers don’t have enough food for an additional guest! Come on.
Wasn’t my favorite. Thought it a bit slow.
Sorry could not finish, i could tell where it was going& i hate when characters are so dumb!
Kind of scary that people like this are walking around, but I believe there are. Good ending.
Leaves you wondering, as the beginning says the story is largely true, with names, places, and some details changed, in which case the author is admitting to murder, but is the opening statement just part of the story? Then another character also writes same story as “fiction,” like mirrors facing mirrors. Intriguing as one watches the inner turmoil of a drug-addled mind, into which the author has remarkable insight. This book stays with you
Slow
I thought it was entertaining but twisted and it left me feeling perplexed.
Quite different from most plots so I would say the author did a good job.
All his books are great.
Just when you think you’ve got it figured out… Enjoyable read.
This was one of the best books l have read in a long time.
I’m giving this one a 3 out of 5 because I have mixed feelings. After Mr. Dunnett’s last book, I wasn’t sure I even wanted to read his newest, and it took me months to buy it. His writing seems to take a while and repeats the same crazy in his characters over and over until finally hitting the meat of the story. During all three books, I wanted to quit until the stories finally picked up. Curiosity won me over and I finally downloaded The Glass Tower. Like one other reviewer, “Julia” drove me nuts with her bat-_hit crazy that I almost stopped reading. Same crazy thoughts over and over until I wanted to bang my own head against the wall. Finally, I’d say at 50% the pace picked up and then I was so curious I couldn’t stop. The ending was unexpected, by me anyway. Mr. Dunnett’s endings are always off the wall, and I guess that’s what keeps readers coming back. But I’m done now, these books just aren’t for me.
