Now a major motion picture from Lionsgate starring Brie Larson, Woody Harrelson, and Naomi Watts. MORE THAN SEVEN YEARS ON THE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER LIST The perennially bestselling, extraordinary, one-of-a-kind, “nothing short of spectacular” (Entertainment Weekly) memoir from one of the world’s most gifted storytellers. The Glass Castle is a remarkable memoir of resilience and redemption, … is a remarkable memoir of resilience and redemption, and a revelatory look into a family at once deeply dysfunctional and uniquely vibrant. When sober, Jeannette’s brilliant and charismatic father captured his children’s imagination, teaching them physics, geology, and how to embrace life fearlessly. But when he drank, he was dishonest and destructive. Her mother was a free spirit who abhorred the idea of domesticity and didn’t want the responsibility of raising a family.
The Walls children learned to take care of themselves. They fed, clothed, and protected one another, and eventually found their way to New York. Their parents followed them, choosing to be homeless even as their children prospered.
The Glass Castle is truly astonishing—a memoir permeated by the intense love of a peculiar but loyal family.

I couldn’t put this book down!!! Loved it! The characters are so interesting
Very interesting book. Sad
All-time favorite!
The proverb “Those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones” comes to mind after reading this memoir. I’m sure it’s partly due to the book title The Glass Castle which has no direct correlation to this proverb. In summation, Jeannette Walls shares her memories growing up with unconventional parents. There are many moments when parts of this …
A very compelling read. Hard to believe it’s fact rather than fiction.
I read this book twice. Found it extremely interesting.
One of the best memoirs I have ever read.
I absolutely loved this book. One of the best book I have ever read! I new it was going to become a movie, I thought it was that good. I give it 2 thumbs up!
Well written.
One if my top 10 favorites. Her voice is an inspiration and her ability to tell her story seems effortless; it is easy to feel like you can relate-even if your life is dramatically different from hers.
As I have lived through some of these vary same things, I found this book to be gripping. It’s a seat grabber for sure. This book will make you cry, laugh, wonder and be angry all at the same time. Well worth the read.
This book makes me wonder how people from severely dysfunctional families can not only survive, but succeed. Jeanette Walls is an excellent writer, and she tells the story of her crazy family extremely well. If you enjoy reading memoirs of people whose families are worse than your own, you will enjoy this.
6Impact (A Twisted Hearts Love Story)
Awesome story!
A classic! A book I will always own. Saw Ms Glass a few years ago. What a gracious, funny lady.
By far my favorite novel.
This should be a must read for everyone. It’s a true story that is amazing.
heart-breaking yet wonderfully written
Not my usual genre, but a fine book about growing up with massively dysfunctional parents, and having the guts to do what it takes to escape their craziness.
I thought it was a most interesting true story. Life proves to have many twists and turns in this book.
