The Girls on the Ghan novella is the second book in a series of thrilling, heart-warming and sometimes laugh out loud Cosy Mystery novels, that relate the mad antics of a group of sixty-something New Zealand women as they delve into the darker side of life and murder. The girls are storming Australia aboard one of the world’s famous trains, The Ghan Explorer. Luxury, incredible sights, good food … sights, good food and wine, but because the girls are there, mayhem and mystery are at the top of the menu – and maybe a little romance.

Wonderful and witty mystery that you will not put down. Entertaining characters that are fun to follow on their antics. Good read.

Another fun time with the girls! This time they are off on a luxury train trip in Australia. While we get to experience the landscape and wildlife of the continent, we also get to have a rollicking good time with the women of the Abandoned Wives and Widows Club. They are great characters in themselves but there are plenty of other wonderful, zany characters in this book. There are several mysteries and they are good with plenty of laughs along the way too. A really fun read!

The ladies are traveling on a train now in Australia. While is story is good, I didn’t enjoy it as much as the first one. Lots of scenery and some odd characters are on this ride. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book
A well written cozy mystery with a somewhat bizarre but interesting plot and a bunch of characters that were by turns silly and serious but always three dimensional and believable. The author did a good job with the setting, the train made it sort of “locked room” style but not quite.
I did enjoy this although I believe this is a series that has to be read in order. It is totally on me that I didn’t read the first book, but it was clear that events and relationships were established in book one and by reading the sneak peek for book three in this story, it’s obvious that events and people appearing in this book continue to the next. I can’t say for sure, but my rating might have been one star higher if I’d read the first book, although this one is a complete story in itself.
I did like it enough that I will go back and read the first one and pick up the next one. I received a copy via Booksprout and chose to leave a review.
A Heart-Warming, Wonderful Cozy Mystery!!!
The Abandoned Wives and Widows Club is a group of sixties something New Zealand ladies, in this second book of the series they are on their train trip to Australia aboard The Ghan Explorer, one of the world’s famous trains and of course there are mysteries that they will need to get to the bottom to find out the truth.
I really enjoyed this fun, heart-warming, laugh out loud, page turning cozy mystery, it has good story line full of mystery, twist and turn, humor, and romance with delightful characters, very hard to put down that keeps me entertained as I tried to figure out the mystery. I highly recommend this book to any cozy mystery fans and I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

The Abandoned Wives and Widows group are ladies who are survivors.
On a train adventure, they are now touring Australia. An exciting classic train stops at several Aboriginal Sacred Spots and other National Parks.
A mysterious briefcase man, a business man with a sense of fun and some secrets, a bit of clumsiness and strong senses of adventure and humor make for a fun journey and entertaining reading

A luxury train trip, and a new romance?
With quirky characters, weird accents, deadly animals and a mystery to solve, who wouldn’t enjoy a trip on The Ghan?
This novella is witty, engaging and with just enough suspense to keep you wrapped up in the story, I found it to be a fun read.
I would, however, recommend reading the previous book to understand the interaction between the main characters before diving in. I think you’ll get more out of it that way.
