The Girlfriend is a taut and wickedly twisted debut psychological thriller—a novel of subtle sabotage, retaliation, jealousy and fear, which pivots on an unforgivable lie, and examines the mother–son–daughter-in-law relationship in a chilling new light.

I couldn’t relate to any of the characters. Most of their actions were illogical and unbelievable. It was a fun (and quick) book to read and I’d recommend it as good book to take to the beach or on a trip.
Not great literature, but a good read.
The main character came across as not a very bright person. Kept going I can’t believe she did that. Took too long for the story to develop.
None of the characters were believable.
I thought this was a pretty good book, could of had more drama, but the ending was full filling.
Loved it Great story and interesting characters
I did not like the sick parental involvement.
Apparently Psychological Thrillers are the thing to write. Authors are now writing books with the word ‘Girl’ in the title, calling them PT, and selling them for movie rights.
This book is not a Thriller. It’s not even good.
We know the basics because we’ve seen variations of it in books and movies ad naseum. Good looking, eligible son of a wealthy family meets a manipulative girl from the wrong side of town. That makes a loving mother nervous – how can her son not see he is being played? Well, it’s because he is thinking with an appendage south of his belt, for one.
Cherry is the vixen’s name. Seriously. Cherry is an estate agent trainee. I suppose that means she requires extra wheels on her car when she’s out showing houses.
It’s an arduous read that has gotten so many four star reviews I’m convinced people appreciate mediocre writing because they have low standards. I’m more disappointed that a crummy book is met with such enthusiasm than I am that it’s such a crummy book. Read at your own risk!
I did not care to finish it
Some of the story line was not unpredictable, but instead, unbelievable. i’d pass on this one.
I enjoyed reading this book. Didn’t want to put it down until I found out the ending.
This book had the twists and turns that I like so much, right up until the end. Great book!
This book will stay with you long after you’ve finished reading it
Very well written and hard to put down!
The book kept my interest and I enjoyed reading about the main characters. I would highly recommend this book.
+One lie leads to another. This book was a good read because I can see it as a real life situation, not the lie necessarily, but the personalities of the mother and girlfriend particularly.
I really loved this book. Kept me awake at night. Just wanted to find out, what was happening next. Understood the desires of the main characters. If you liked “Gone girl, gone”, you will like this one!
Well written and fast paced plot make it a page turner. I enjoyed the development of the characters with their own personal motivations coming from different influences around them.
very good page turner
Silly book and a time waster.
