A search and rescue cop training to become a K-9 handler, a lovely dispatcher who always has his back, and an earthquake that threatens to tear them apart… in Texas, he jumps at the chance to go, even though it means leaving his girlfriend behind.
Dispatcher Deanna Harper had one strict rule — never date a cop. That all changed when she got to know Ted Hendricks. He was the only single officer in the department who didn’t hit on her, which made him all the more appealing. When he decides to travel across the country to train as a K-9 handler, she decides he’s worth taking a chance on a long distance relationship.
When Ted’s team is deployed to help in the aftermath of an earthquake in Colorado, Ted finds out that Deanna was in the epicenter. Can Ted find Deanna in time to save her? Will Deanna be able to survive until he does? And if they reunite, will they find a way to be together despite the distance between them?

WOW! Jenna knocked it outta the park with this series – incredible story with an epic set of characters. A must read!
An enjoyable well written short standalone that kicks off a new series. This engaging suspenseful story has drama, intrigue, turmoil, tension, stress of a long distance relationship and love. The characters are interesting, full of faith, with lots of love in this sweet story that I voluntarily read and reviewed.
Wonderful intro to the new DISASTER CITY SERIES! Lots of drama from the stress and perils of a long distance relationship to the actual physical dangers of an earthquake and the search and rescue mission that follows. Two delightful characters with depth and faith as well as a heroic dog fill out this sweet Christian story. Bring on book 2.
Great story with Ted who is a K9 handler who leaves Colorado to go to Texas to train leaving his girlfriend Deanna who is a dispatcher. She never wanted to date a police officer but she made that exception for Ted. Can Ted and Deanna make their long distant relationship work until he gets back to Colorado?
Received from the author and this is my honest and unbiased opinion.
I have high expectations from a Jenna Brandt book and this book fulfilled them. I can understand Ted’s desire to be in K9 Search and Rescue, if I was much younger, I would love to do that. I can also understand Deanna’s fear of a long distance relationship. Ms. Brandt’s characters are well-developed and you can identify with them. The story line is very believable. I look forward to the books by other authors of this series and to more books by Ms Brandt.
ONE ENTHRALLING JOURNEY!!!

Bracing as drama, intrigue, turmoil and suspense soars while tension spirals, thrusting this baby into a tailspin with shocking results. Seizing the moment, traversing the trials and tribulations, revving up a bounty of thrilling twists and crisp turns, fusing this gem together flawlessly. The attraction and chemistry builds as each layer is peeled back exposing an undeniable connection and amplifying affections, binding them to one another perfectly. The characters are authentic and genuine with depth and qualities that blend into amazing personalities. The characters and scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and descriptions creating a colorful backdrop that makes the storyline pop. Remarkable job Jenna, thanks for sharing this little treasure with us.
Such a wonderful story that made me think about what the search and rescue teams go through. Can you imagine when a disaster happens?
This is Ted and Deanna’s story who worked together in Clear Mountain Colorado. Ted was a search and rescue officer and Deanna was a dispatcher. It was Ted’s dream to become a K-9 handler and had even gotten a dog that had become displaced and was training him. When he gets the chance to go to the go train in Texas, he is really excited.
But he is soon put to the test when Deanna is in an earthquake in Colorado and Ted and his team go there to try to help. He is anxious to find her and pulls out all the stops.
Love this new series by Jenna Brandt who always writes stories of the heart…
I am excited about this new series! I have always loved stories about search and rescue personnel but add in a K-9 dog and I’m totally there! Ted has been a search and rescue guy for quite awhile but really wants to be a certified K-9 search and rescue person. When he finally finds a dog that can help him achieve that goal, the dept. that he’s with, doesn’t have an opening, and probably wont for a long time so he searches for another job. He’s really focused on living his dream. The drawback? He’d have to leave his girlfriend, Deanna, who’s a 911 dispatcher! Deanna loves Ted but she can’t exactly follow him to his new job since it’s a training position. Will a long-distance romance work? Those relationships are hard! I enjoyed how realistic this part of the story was. The stresses that were brought on both of them because of being apart. However, when Deanna is caught in an earthquake, will Ted and his K-9 be able to rescue them in time to find their HEA? An interesting story and great characters!
