A search and rescue cop training to become a K-9 handler, a lovely dispatcher who always has his back, and an earthquake that threatens to tear them apart… in Texas, he jumps at the chance to go, even though it means leaving his girlfriend behind.
Dispatcher Deanna Harper had one strict rule — never date a cop. That all changed when she got to know Ted Hendricks. He was the only single officer in the department who didn’t hit on her, which made him all the more appealing. When he decides to travel across the country to train as a K-9 handler, she decides he’s worth taking a chance on a long distance relationship.
When Ted’s team is deployed to help in the aftermath of an earthquake in Colorado, Ted finds out that Deanna was in the epicenter. Can Ted find Deanna in time to save her? Will Deanna be able to survive until he does? And if they reunite, will they find a way to be together despite the distance between them?
This is Book 1 in the Disaster City Search and Rescue Series.
Step into the world of Disaster City Search and Rescue, where officers, firefighters, military, and medics, train and work alongside each other with the dogs they love, to do the most dangerous job of all — help lost and injured victims find their way home.

A possibility? Or a dream?
Ted, Deanna and Titan appear to have it all, but appearances can be deceiving, Ted’s career is not everything he dreams of. He finds his dream job, but it may cost him Deanna. Can he have all his dreams? If not, what will be most important? Will he get the chance to choose?
This is a difficult one, I generally liked both Ted and Deanna, but there were moments when they both acted very selfishly or didn’t take time to explain themselves and therefore created problems where there didn’t need to be any, this frustrated me and made me grumble about them as I continued reading. Obviously these misunderstandings add to the plot and probably do reflect real life and how self-centered people can be…but it still has you grumbling to the book ‘Just TALK to each other!!!’
The whole Disaster City S & R is a great setting and I cannot wait to read more books in this multi author series, all of which is available on Kindle Unlimited. Book 14 is due out on 28th February, so if you start now you have the time to read the first 13 in the series before this is released!
This story is a nice Sunday afternoon read. Officer Ted Hendricks works with search and rescue crews but longs to work the K9 Unit. The story-line is his wonderful family, the girl of his dreams, and, his great K9 partner, Titan. This book is a clean read and can be enjoyed by anyone.
Love to read a good series with K-9’s and their handlers. Ted was a police officer but he always want to be a K-9 handler. When a police officer was killed and a K-9 came up for an adoption he jumped in with both feet. His girlfriend Deanna was sad he was going away to school with his K-9, but they suffered thru a long distance relationship. Loved all the elements of this story. HEA
I adore lawmen heroes — especially ones with K9 partners!
Ted got finally the chance he’s waiting for, becoming a K-9 handler. The only problem is he has to move and leave his girlfriend behind. Deanna isn’t happy that her boyfriend will leave but he needs the chance to fulfill his dreams. But will a long distance relationship work for them? Will a disaster help them to decide their future?
This is a fun and somewhat realist story, what is your priority? A great first book in a new series.

Like a Hallmark movie with god in it
I enjoyed it, i just didn’t care for the hero’s name (Ted).

Love to read a good series with K-9’s and their handlers. Ted was a police officer but he always want to be a K-9 handler. When a police officer was killed and a K-9 came up for an adoption he jumped in with both feet. His girlfriend Dianna was sad he was going away to school with his K-9, but they suffered thru a long distance relationship. Loved all the elements of this story. HEA
Such a great story. Search and rescue team member Ted wants to be k9 Titan’s handler. He’s found the love of his life, Deanna, but has to put that dream on hold to complete his training with his k9 partner. I feel like I really got an accurate description of how these brave men and women train for such overwhelming situation. If you like clean stories with strong characters, you can’t go wrong with ‘The Girlfriend Rescue’.
Great story. Hard to put this book down. It highlights the hard work and training the rescuers do, with love and faith intertwined.
The story was entertaining. There’s a bit of drama and a bit of suspense, and lots of love, faith, and friendship.
There couple’s forced distance (he goes out of state to train as a K9 handler) makes them reevaluate their relationship.
Very good book! Deanna is a dispatcher and has always had a rule. Never date a cop. But things change when she meets Ted who is training to be a K-9 handler on the search and rescue team. She decides to take a chance on long distance romance but tragedy strikes when an earthquake hits. Will Ted save her or will a love that just started end too soon? Can’t wait to read the next book!
The Girlfriend Rescue is an amazing story about all the training, dedication and precision that is required of the search and rescue first responders. It is also a well written, clean romance with interesting, believable characters. I love Ted and Deanna and thought Ms. Brandt wrote a perfect ending!
I really enjoyed reading this story! It was very interesting reading about how the dog and his handler worked to find people who are lost! I recommend this book to anyone who loves romance and adventure!
An authentic and genuine story.
This was a really good story about a dog, a man and, a very important rescue. Ted and his partner Titan have been given a chance to train at an elite school in Texas. The one problem is that he has to leave Deanna in Colorado. He trained hard and did well and then Deanna was trapped and he and Titan needed to find her. Where she is trapped is a trip. I loved the characters and I am really enjoying this series. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
This is a great read, full of wonderful characters. I enjoyed reading about the rescue and the rescue dog. Action and romance at it’s finest! Looking forward to the next book!
Was give a complimentary copy. All opinions of my own.
Loved this story!! Ted is a great hero, and can face anything with God, Deanna and Titan by his side. Love that Ted and Deanna both lean on God, and figure out that He’ll see them through. It took Deanna awhile to figure out that she didn’t have to stay in one place, and Ted finally realized his dream, and they didn’t contradict each other’s dreams, but they could both realize their dreams.
I received a complimentary copy of this book, was not required to leave a review, and the opinion expressed is my own.
Who doesn’t love a romance that involves a dog? And throw in a hot cop / K-9 handler and what could be better? Nothing!! Except maybe some chocolate? LOL! This was a fun read that was very sweet and romantic but also packed with action due to the searches. Love this series!
