From the New York Times bestselling author of The Giver of Stars, a sweeping bestseller of love and loss, deftly weaving two journeys from World War I France to present day London. Paris, World War I. Sophie Lefèvre must keep her family safe while her adored husband, Édouard, fights at the front. I love all of this author’s books and especially love the books with this character.
This is a story that stayed with me long after completing the book. The strength of young woman making decisions that will keep her family together during the war and the separation from her husband, a famous painter who is fighting for France. Decades later a painting surfaces and a young woman trying to survive after the death of her husband find strength in the painting. A love story that will have you think What would I do for love and family.
I really enjoyed “Me Before You” . This second book “The Girl You Left Behind” was disappointing.
Well written. The story starts with WW l and moves to 21st century. It moves back and forth in time until all the dots r connected. I’m anxious to read her other books.
Good book with characters that were well fleshed out and a very interesting story. I was a fan of the then and now style the author used to tell us about Sophie and Liv, the two women whose lives were shared with the reader.
Love this book!!
I just loved it.
Another wonderful Jojo Moyes books. A must read.
Good read, page turner.
Great characters and storyline.
Love JoJo Moyes books. This one is no different.
Love this author. Entertainment ng
Awesome book. Caught your attention early and never let it go.
Very good
I like books that I call “then and now“ books. This one takes place during the German occupation of France and modern day America. Vacillating back-and-forth between those time periods was seamless, and using a painting as the link between then and now was interesting. The painting, so pivotal in the telling of the story, was so well described, one could visualize what the paining must have looked like.
The heroine’s desperation is conveyed in typical Jojo Moyes style while we feel her emotion and understand that her actions are about using her strength and determination to save those she loves.
Along with the informational materials I have to read, I enjoy reading just for pleasure and I enjoyed this novel.
I absolutely loved this book! It was the first I’ve read by this author. I knew she wrote Me Before You, but I haven’t read it or seen the movie. I think this book would make an awesome movie!! It has all the historical elements ! I couldn’t put it down.
I loved it, mix of past and present. Two woman connected not only for a painting but by the perseverance.
Captivating story line alternating between WWI in France and present day London. Heart warming!!
I really liked this book because it gave closure to the first book. Very different than what I expected.
JoJo Moyes is so talented! This book was typically wonderful!
