Justice with a vengeance.Imagine if you were offered a choice: give up your freedom or watch the people closest to you lose theirs. What would you do?When international fugitive Sydney Rye turns herself over to authorities in order to protect the vigilante network she inspired, her freedom depends on helping Homeland Security shift the tides in a war for “hearts and minds.” Sydney Rye is tasked … in a war for “hearts and minds.” Sydney Rye is tasked with the perfect assignment: recruit female fighters to take on jihadists. Being killed by a woman is the only thing extremists fear because they believe it bars their entrance to Heaven. But when the director who enlisted Sydney Rye is killed, and the deal she made is scrapped, Sydney and Blue are left in a war zone, hunted by both the U.S. government and jihadists.

Almost could be made into a “film noir” but doesn’t quite take you there.
The series took an odd turn in my mind. Sydney Rye is now fighting terrorists in the middle east. It is an okay read but not what I expected after reading the first two in the series. Guess that is what I get for jumping out of sequence in the series.
Held my interest enough to be interested in her next adventure.
A good example of the genre
Disappointing and predictable
I have read other Sydney Rye books and enjoyed them, so when this book became available, I was ready to download it and read. The author does a good job of developing the characters, the story line is unpredictable, and the book ended with me wanting to read the next one.
Love the relationships and the fight for what is right!!!
Picked up the first book and read thru number 9. Loved Sydney and her kick ass attitude, loved that she is a heroine and a role model for some women in our current political world. Hope she inspires young women to stand up to the challenges of a modern world and make changes in the way society sees women.
Didn’t care for the book
I love Emily’s Sydney & Blue Books!!
Sydney Rye is always worth reading
Fast read like the story line
Sydney and Blue rock! The backstory is. fascinating too
Review of Girl With A Gun by Emily Kimelman
This take your breath away book featuring Sydney Rye and faithful dog Blue who are about to have to take on another It starts on the island that houses the headquarters of Joyful Justice that Joy Humbolt aka Sidney Rye had inspired. It is a vigilante group that tries to see that those who hadn’t found justice found it. It very often takes some violence to make things right. She has a former NYP detective threatening to expose her identity if she doesn’t do his bidding. She has a meeting with the detective in Tokyo that is interrupted by a woman from US Homeland Security who wants her help. She wants her to take out the leadership of Daesh aka Islamic State and in Syria. She wants Sidney to work with the Kurdish female freedom fighters. She flies to Iraq and at the airport meets two women who are with the freedom fighters, one her translator the other her bodyguard. From here they are off to battle. It’s hard to put the book down from here on out. I’d give it 5 stars.

I love all the books in this series.
I have enjoyed all of the books in this series
Good book but story continues into other books.
This was a good read but an unrealistic organization and not very believable. Still good entertainment and an engaging thriller.
Good read! Women fighters in Iraq. Interesting.
