Late to the game on this awesomeness, I finally devoured The Millennium Series by Stieg Larrson. I can’t remember ever reading a heroine so brilliant and complex. So unrelentingly just…HER. Lisbeth Salander is one of the best characters I ever met. These books are full of detail, history, action, twists and turns and best of all, intelligence. Oh, and I fell in love with Mikael Blomkvist too.
Disturbing, graphic violence, slow start to a book which was NOT my style. BUT by the end of the 3 books, I was in my car in my driveway listening to the last chapters !! I was hitting my steering wheel, cheering on my new book heroine… Story of a disgraced journalist who teams up with a mystery female goth computer researcher to resolve a cold case, as well as solve the mystery of a perverse serial killer. It was unlike anything I’ve read. Book can be slow, with history you didn’t need to know. But as to what happened to Lisbeth Salander, and how she was wronged by the people who were supposed to protect her, and how she eventually pays everyone back…..was worth it for me. Half the people reading this book, hate it. Other half LOVE it. Make no mistake…This is a TOUGH book.
I had a really difficult time starting the first book. It was a little slow with the background and I almost put it down, then WHAM, I was hooked and I could not read fast enough. All this to say, the beginning is important to the rest of the story – stay with it, you will not be sorry.
All three books are dark and emotionally charged. Frequently, I had to remind myself to breathe. And for me, that is the mark of a really good book and this trilogy was no disappointment.
Perhaps it should come with the disclaimer, “not for the faint of heart.” And believe me when I say, you will want answers, you will demand justice and once started, you will not want to stop a until you complete all three books. It may take a while to get to the end, but oh, what a trip.
The story’s lead characters are very realistic … some are very dark and sinister – people you never want to cross path’s with contrasting to the lead character who is struggling to make sense of all the chaos that is occurring in his life and affecting everyone he is close to. Every time you think it can’t get any worse, it does, but hang in there the books are leading to a very dramatic conclusion. All three books are compelling you to read on, all the while with one eye covered.
Loved loved loved this series. I was so sad Steg died. I wanted this to continue in his own writing.
Very damaged but strong female character. Dark and terrifying but well worth it. I loved the whole series.
All excellent.
What a loss when this author died. You will gobble these books up – totally original characters and plots!
I read the entire Trilogy, saw the movie, good, but didn’t compare to the book (what movie does). Just a fabulous series.
Wonderful
Loved all 3 books in this series and loved them all! Highly recommend!
The Stieg books are some of the best I have read. It is a shame that he died before they became so popular. He should have reaped the rewards. And the series made a great series of movies with the Swedish cast. I’ve watched them three times. I would recommend these books and the movies to everyone
Great stories
Best series I have ever read!!
I could not put those books down!! All three were strong.
Great suspension book! I loved the characters. I’ve read all of the books.
Best of the best. None like him.
The first of three. Amazing character. Get busy and read…
I found each of these books hard to put down.. I felt drawn into the book.. I found it an eye opening look at cyber space .. and all of the things, good and bad that can happen with hackers. I do enjoy a good murder mystery with lots of twist.. and these definitely have the twist.
Loved it
I loved this book. In fact, I have read two of the three and can’t wait to read the last one.
