Great series
I promise you if you start Lisa Regan’s Detective Jose Quinn series, you will be buying the next book the minute you finish—it’s THAT GOOD. Complex and compelling and impossible not to get hooked on!
Detective Josie Quinn has her hands full with another crazy, twisted case on her hands. Still reeling from her last case she is finally getting the hang of being chief while trying to plan a wedding and get used to no longer being in the field, but behind a desk. She is not sure if she likes this new gig, but as of now everyone still respects her and sees her as a hero for unveiling the truth of corrupt townspeople.
Josie gets called to a house on the outskirts of town. Not realizing at first who the owner is, the case quickly gets put into overdrive. There is a missing newborn infant, the mother is beat badly enough that there’s concern of her pulling through and Josie doesn’t even know where to start for looking for a newborn. She wants to put out an APB, but she doesn’t even know if the baby is a boy or girl.
Who would take a newborn and why? As Josie tries to question friends and family she is finding that this person was very private when it came to the pregnancy and yet who might be the other parent might be what caused this but no one knows who that could be. As she is running around trying to find a stolen newborn, she gets called to another location and this one she is familiar with, but there is a women fleeing the house. Who is she, and what is going on now?
Not thrilled at having another case, Josie quickly realizes that the two might be tied together, but the woman is claiming amnesia. Josie’s co-workers realize that she might be a little too close to this case and leads turn up, and quest her stability in continuing to work and solve what is happening. But Josie won’t let anything stop her, and this is what she has missed- working the field.
great series
I’m really loving Josie Quinn – she just gets better! She was in some hot water at work in book 1, so it was nice that she was in good standing for book 2, and able to be a kick-butt woman-in-charge! This book had an incredibly good premise, with a girl showing up not knowing who she was, at a scene at Josie’s fiance’s house where there was an awwwwful lot of blood. And where was fiance Luke? Was Josie going to go through this again (flashbacks to almost losing him to a senseless shooting in book 1, and losing her estranged husband at the same time)? We follow Josie searching for clues as to who this girl is, where Luke is, who’s blood this is, and why on earth is Misty involved in the story again – that girl is such a trouble maker! This time, she is pregnant, and video shows Luke had been at the strip club talking to her recently. She isn’t losing another of her men to Misty, is she? Oh, dear! And WHO is the baby daddy??? Follow Josie and the clues to see if she is able to find Luke – and if she can, will it be in time, unlike Ray in book 1?! Amazing book, Lisa! Great narration on the audio by Eilidh Beaton!
A wonderful series. A detective story with a romantic twist and surprise ending. I can’t wait for the next book in this series
Love Josie Quinn. She’s relentless!
Josie and her team are at it again in book #2. Josie is still a kick-ass police chief whose always putting herself in the middle of investigations / murder scenes even when she should step back.
While you can read these books as stand-alone I don’t recommend it because with each book you get to visit old characters and learn a little more about them. I enjoy the interaction with Josie and her team.
This book is fast paced, action packed, and keeps you on the edge of your seat turning the pages! Its full of twists / turns, murder, accidents, heartbreak (at least for me), a couple surprises, lots of guessing (on my part), and your not left hanging at the end.
I’m looking forward to Her Mother’s Grave, book #3!

I finished it just out of curiosity, although I really didn’t like the main character, Police Chief Josie Quinn. The mayor keeps threatening to fire her, and I wish she had. I think Josie’s detective Noah would have done a better job. The story seemed disjointed. I wasn’t too surprised by the ending. Glad I only paid $.99 for this book.
This book is really good. I couldn’t put it down. Finished in 2 days!
First, I want to thank Lisa Regan, Bookouture, and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.
The Girl with No Name (Detective Josie Quinn #2) by Lisa Regan is an absolutely gripping mystery and suspense novel that you cant put down til the book ends. Lisa Regan blew me away by her amazing storyline, her unique and interesting cast of characters, the crazy twists and turns, the heartache and betrayal Josie felt on several occasions, etc.
This is one of the best Mystery Suspense crime novels I have read in a really long time. I felt like I was reading something from one of my favorite TV Shows Law and Order SVU. The Girl with No Name really has something for everyone in this book. Missing people, infidelity, strippers, crime, criminal investigations, Jane Doe, etc. Words can’t describe how good this book is.

Any book that Lisa Regan writes is worth reading. I have read them all and enjoy every one of them. I highly reccomend them to others
After reading Vanishing Girls by Lisa Regan last year I was chomping at the bit for the second in the series. When I finished it (in one day) I was NOT disappointed! I love all of Lisa’s books, as she has an incredible talent to keep the twists and turns coming at a pace you can just barely stay on top of, and you never want to put the book down until you’ve figured out whodunit. I wasn’t sure how she was going to outdo Vanishing Girls, but The Girl With No Name was equally as mind bending and thrilling, with an enjoyable personal storyline for Josie.
Josie Quinn is a seasoned police detective, but as a woman who struggles with her past, it also affects her present relationships. The fallout from the events in Vanishing Girls has hit Josie hard, not only in her personal life, but also in her professional life. As the new boss she feels a loss for the joy she used to have in finding the bad guys herself. Having to stay hands off isn’t something Josie does well, and she sinks into this new case with her usual moxie. What she isn’t expecting is for her now recovered boyfriend to be on the losing end of the stick, again. What happens in her time of need has brought many good detectives to their knees, but Josie perseveres for the number one reason, a missing baby girl. She will damn the consequences of her actions before she damns the baby to a life without a family. The twists and turns of this story take us places you never expect on page 1, but by page 337 you’ll look around and think, “wow, now THAT was a story.”
I enjoyed the insight into Josie’s personal moments which the author brings into the story during the dark hours of the investigation. You always wonder how cops internalize and process a lot of what they see and experience, but when it’s happening TO you and you’re also the one responsible for solving the crime, how do you allow yourself those personal moments of ‘break down’ so you can keep going. The author writes these scenes beautifully and I think had she not, a facet of the character would be missing.
As always, I struggle to review Lisa’s books without giving away spoilers because everything is connected and so expertly woven there is no way to untie the knot and not have it unravel, so I’ll end this review by saying if you haven’t read Vanishing Girls, read it, and then jump back into Josie’s life in The Girl With No Name, you will thank me later!
Tough & Resilient in the Face of Adversity describes Chief of Police Josie Quinn’s struggles throughout this book.
Josie has always had a strong moral compass even though her now dead husband, fellow officers and others around her were completely lacking in the moral department. She doesn’t let her personal feelings get in the way of her doing her job or keep her from doing what’s right even if that is at the cost of her own emotion well being.
Its been 2 years since everything went down in the first book. Josie has settled into her new job as Chief of Police with a great team of detectives reporting to her, all while planning her wedding to Luke. In a blink of an eye everything changes.. A call to a scene where a woman was badly beaten and her newborn baby taken, and then shortly after that her fiance disappears all while a woman who claims to not be able to remember who she is and how she came to be at one of the scenes is looking to be a connection between both cases.
If you haven’t read the first book I recommend doing that before reading this one. I was sucked into the story from the start and with each page my anxiety increased for where it looked like it was headed. Not your traditional ending.. Thankfully the third book in the series comes out in August….
You can never go wrong with a Lisa Regan novel, and this one proves just that. I’m not gonna go over the plot like so many others. You want to be surprised anyway, which you will be with this one. As always, her characters are complex and the plot is as tight as they get. There’s a reason why Lisa Regan sits right between John Grisham and Michael Connelly on the Amazon author rank. She is one badass writer!
Another hit by Lisa Regan! I anticipated a good read after the first one, Vanishing Girls. Very good
Unput-a-downable. Kept me guessing.
The book kept my interest and there were twists and turns I didn’t expect. I didn’t care for Jose’s fiance, their relationship was not believable. I didn’t read the book that came before it – maybe there was more about their relationship in that book that would have made it more believable? Noah would have been a better fit for a boyfriend I think. He was caring and concerned about Josie.
Love this author
Great book!!!
Really terrific read. Great plot, great characters. I am waiting for the next one.
