The USA Today bestsellerMelanie is a very special girl. Dr Caldwell calls her “our little genius.” Every morning, Melanie waits in her cell to be collected for class. When they come for her, Sergeant keeps his gun pointing at her while two of his people strap her into the wheelchair. She thinks they don’t like her. She jokes that she won’t bite, but they don’t laugh. The Girl With All the Gifts …
The Girl With All the Gifts is a groundbreaking thriller, emotionally charged and gripping from beginning to end. p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 14.0px Calibri; -webkit-text-stroke: #000000} span.s1 {font-kerning: none}

This is really great take on the zombie apocalypse storyline. It’s hard to make a story in that genre that seems new, but this is one of them. Plus it has a very reasonable explanation for why it happened. The characters are vivid, and everything that occurs follows from what you know must happen, even if your really don’t want it to…
Looking …
A good post apocalyptic story starring a child heroine! I really enjoyed this character and her intelligence.
Where the book falls short for me is the development bringing us to the climax. I was initially drawn in by a captivating start. The story lost a lot of momentum and became a lull till the end.
I absolutely loved the ending of this …
The writing of the very narrow view point is exelently done. We get to see the world as Melanie does, but still are able to deduce the bigger picture.
The ending in my opinion is the only one that makes sense and it left me thinking about it for days.
It will leave your mind blown. Trust me. It’s about zombies but they’re different to how they’re mostly depicted. A dystopian stand-alone with a somehow very sad and unsettling storyline.
A real page turner with an intriguing plot that unfolds with excellence.
I need to confess something – I am afraid of zombies. There phew, it feels much better getting that off my chest. Still I saw this book at The Last Bookstore and the yellow simple cover drew me in, then the first page hooked me and I had to have it. Very original book, they shot a movie too if you don’t have the time to read it, but the book is …
Not your usual zombie tale. Very moving and emotional. If you want more than the typical blood and guts then look no further. Excellent read.
I finished reading the book – the experience is shaky, dominate — the kind of books which I’m not used to reading.
The plot is mostly told from the perspective of Melanie the girl, the heroine of the book. In an apocalyptic world plagued by an epidemic, the remaining kinds of life trying to survive. The more Melanie understands, the more the …
I was pleasantly surprised by this book. Didn’t expect it to be so good! Who knew a zombie story could be so original and well told!
One of my favorite books.
This is the story in a post-apocolyptic world where there are zombies. (Or as this book calls them – Hungries). The story starts when it is 20 years since the outbreak of the virus came that caused people to turn into Hungries. At this time, if you are bitten by a hungry, you turn into one. The book opens with a little girl named Melanie. She …
One of my all time favorites. I’m currently on my second re-read.
The book sounds intriguing! And fact, before I even read it I got the next book, “the boy on the bridge”. It was interesting to start out but then just got too macabre for me. I kept beating because I really wanted to find out what happened. But then I realized I was only 41% through the book and I would have to deal with 59% of ridiculousness …
I absolutely loved this book.
The only zombie book I’ve ever LOVED. Masterfully told from multiple points of view, with multi-dimensional characters – even the cold-as-ice scientist roused my sympathy and forced me to agree with her (at least occasionally). Round it all out with science that’s both plausible and fascinating, and this was just a fantastic read.
When I read the Covertext of that book I got interested and needed to read it. But I have to confess that it had to wait in my bookshelf a few month until i picked it up to read. I didn’t know what that book is about – besides whats the covertext says. So I was kinda like Melanie. I didn’t know where it goes, and I didn’t even know what Melanie …
Wow. As a total, what a story. What a story. 4 stars.
Started well, throws you right into the simple (or not so simple) mind of a 10 year old girl, Melanie.
I would like to however make a case against stories that use new terminologies for old stuff. Vampires should be called vampires, please, please, don’t call them “teeths” or “fangs”. If a …
I found the concept original and interesting and the ending truly surprised me. Not your run-of-the-mill apocalypse story.
After having read a lot of Epic fantasies I was looking for something different and boy did I find it in The Girl with all the Gifts. Macabre and marvelous with some of the most unique characters I’ve ever met between the pages of a book. Melanie was my favorite.
An end of the world book done right. Loved it.
