Instant #1 New York Times Bestseller “The Girl on the Train has more fun with unreliable narration than any chiller since Gone Girl. . . . [It] is liable to draw a large, bedazzled readership.”—The New York Times “Like its train, the story blasts through the stagnation of these lives in suburban London and the reader cannot help but turn pages.”—The Boston Globe “Gone Girl fans will devour this … pages.”—The Boston Globe
“Gone Girl fans will devour this psychological thriller.”—People
A debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people’s lives.
Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. “Jess and Jason,” she calls them. Their life—as she sees it—is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.
And then she sees something shocking. It’s only a minute until the train moves on, but it’s enough. Now everything’s changed. Unable to keep it to herself, Rachel offers what she knows to the police, and becomes inextricably entwined in what happens next, as well as in the lives of everyone involved. Has she done more harm than good?
Compulsively readable, The Girl on the Train is an emotionally immersive, Hitchcockian thriller and an electrifying debut.

Not my kind of book. I finished it but didn’t really enjoy it. Too dark for me.
The novel is very suspenseful with an interesting main character, in a modern setting. A must read for anyone who commutes on a train!
Interesting but I couldn’t understand all the hype.
Interesting twisty novel with an unreliable, almost unlikable narrator.
I hated this book and it was due mostly to the characters. They weren’t the least bit likable. I finished the book only because I thought it might get better…but it never did.
Reading this was a series of thought experiments. Limited a action. Notwithstanding the huge following I couldn’t finish it. Boring!
The story kept me reading.
Great read!
So really didn’t dare for this book – didn’t like the main characters, and didn’t see what all the hype was about.
This was one of the worst books I’ve ever read. The main character is an unappealing, unsympathetic alcoholic.
One of the books of the year a little while back. Very much worth your time if you enjoy murder mysteries.
A story with many twists and turns. Unpredictable and ingenious.
So good I read it twice.
Masterpiece. After a slow start, I really worried about the characters but mostly wanted to find out what would happen. The puzzles were constant and intriguing. So this book one reads to find out 1) what is going on then 2) what will happen to the characters.
Great book.
The main character drove me crazy with her repetitive bad decisions
I did enjoy this my first read by Paula Hawkins. I only gave The girl on the train a ‘okay’ read because although they are great characters, I did find my concentration wondering off which is when I know that I’m not completely hooked! But that is just my opinion and I do not want to take anything away from a thumping good read!!!
Everyone else seemed to love this book. I was bored to death.
Boring, slow paced.
