Instant #1 New York Times Bestseller “The Girl on the Train has more fun with unreliable narration than any chiller since Gone Girl. . . . [It] is liable to draw a large, bedazzled readership.”—The New York Times “Like its train, the story blasts through the stagnation of these lives in suburban London and the reader cannot help but turn pages.”—The Boston Globe “Gone Girl fans will devour this … pages.”—The Boston Globe
“Gone Girl fans will devour this psychological thriller.”—People
A debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people’s lives.
Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. “Jess and Jason,” she calls them. Their life—as she sees it—is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.
And then she sees something shocking. It’s only a minute until the train moves on, but it’s enough. Now everything’s changed. Unable to keep it to herself, Rachel offers what she knows to the police, and becomes inextricably entwined in what happens next, as well as in the lives of everyone involved. Has she done more harm than good?
Compulsively readable, The Girl on the Train is an emotionally immersive, Hitchcockian thriller and an electrifying debut.

Would like to see the movie!
Time will pass while you read this. Otherwise I found it mostly forgettable.
This book started it all. There are others like it, but not quite like it. There are A LOT of books with “girl” in the title. They are not this book.
I couldn’t finish this book. It simply didn’t seem worth my time.
very disappointed……
interesting
I don’t normally read psychological thrillers, but I was curious about the hype around this book. I wanted to see if it was as good as some are claiming. Meh. And no, I have not seen the movie and am unlikely to do so.
Despite being a psychological thriller, but I didn’t find it all that thrilling. I’m generally slow to guess endings, but I did …
Unique, kept you guessing till the end
A page Turner. Surprised at every turn. Great read
I couldn’t get interested in it and stopped reading after about 50 pages.
Interesting, exciting, kept me up reading all night,
This book kept me on the edge of my seat. It was hard to figure out what was going to happen next.
Really liked the book and the following movie. Highly recommend it.
Unlike most other reviewers, I found this book confusing. Even when I ended I felt like “What did I just read?” My book club chose this book, and until we discussed it I still didn’t get it – that is until they explained it. These books are not my cup of tea because there is so much pain and sorrow in the world = however – it is good to …
Book ok. Movie awful.
Not as good as it was made out to be.
It was an unusual story line that kept me guessing til the final chapter. Was recommended by a friend & would recommend it to anyone that enjoys crime thrillers.
A bit overly dramatic, but a compelling page turner.
I did not like this book
Many book blurbs says things like “For fans of ‘The Girl on the Train.” I don’t read any of those books. On the plus side, I did read it all the way to the end. On the not-so-plus side, while the story was OK I didn’t find myself liking any of the characters. For me, a lack of likable characters makes for a tough read.
