Instant #1 New York Times Bestseller “The Girl on the Train has more fun with unreliable narration than any chiller since Gone Girl. . . . [It] is liable to draw a large, bedazzled readership.”—The New York Times “Like its train, the story blasts through the stagnation of these lives in suburban London and the reader cannot help but turn pages.”—The Boston Globe “Gone Girl fans will devour this … pages.”—The Boston Globe
“Gone Girl fans will devour this psychological thriller.”—People
A debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people’s lives.
Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. “Jess and Jason,” she calls them. Their life—as she sees it—is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.
And then she sees something shocking. It’s only a minute until the train moves on, but it’s enough. Now everything’s changed. Unable to keep it to herself, Rachel offers what she knows to the police, and becomes inextricably entwined in what happens next, as well as in the lives of everyone involved. Has she done more harm than good?
Compulsively readable, The Girl on the Train is an emotionally immersive, Hitchcockian thriller and an electrifying debut.

Good read
This well-regarded book did not appeal to me. It’s always nice to have a character you can root for, or empathize with, but the “heroine” in this book was definitely not that type. I had to push myself to finish it.
I dont recommend this one!
I liked the book but it is not a favorite.
Vastly over rated
Fabulous!
Awesome book! Hard to follow at first, but very good!
Not very sympathetic character
I read this very quickly as it’s very fast paced. I felt for the protagonist and found her very struggles very sympathetic. Some nice twists and a very escapist and exciting storyline. I would highly recommend this book as a great weekend read.
Great mystery!
This book was very hard to get into. I didn’t really can’t recommend this book.
This was the first thriller I ever read, and it got me addicted to it’s genre. Paula Hawkins’ ability to draw you into seemingly unrelatable experiences and make you feel like your sharing the adventure her characters are, is simply astonishing. It had me looking out the window of the bus I take everyday to work, and trying to find someone who …
Not one single character in this book is likeable but somehow you still need to know how it ends.
Demonstrates the mind fog of an alcoholic witness and how it impedes the apprehension of a murderer.
The story is a bit different from the norm. I kept guessing “who done it” because there were likely suspects in several different chapters.
I whipped through this book in a little more than a day. It’s a fast read, a whodunit, with chapters that tell the story piece by piece from different characters’ perspectives. It is not great literature and I expect that all the hype the book has gotten is because the ending does come as a surprise and there are lots of twists and turns along the …
Did not like this book.
Very suspenseful. Twisting tale of suspense.
This is a great book that kept me on the edge of my seat. I couldn’t put it down. I highly recommend it.
Wonderful premise. Didn’t care for the constant substance abuse, too convoluted.
