Instant #1 New York Times Bestseller “The Girl on the Train has more fun with unreliable narration than any chiller since Gone Girl. . . . [It] is liable to draw a large, bedazzled readership.”—The New York Times “Like its train, the story blasts through the stagnation of these lives in suburban London and the reader cannot help but turn pages.”—The Boston Globe “Gone Girl fans will devour this … pages.”—The Boston Globe
“Gone Girl fans will devour this psychological thriller.”—People
A debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people’s lives.
Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. “Jess and Jason,” she calls them. Their life—as she sees it—is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.
And then she sees something shocking. It’s only a minute until the train moves on, but it’s enough. Now everything’s changed. Unable to keep it to herself, Rachel offers what she knows to the police, and becomes inextricably entwined in what happens next, as well as in the lives of everyone involved. Has she done more harm than good?
Compulsively readable, The Girl on the Train is an emotionally immersive, Hitchcockian thriller and an electrifying debut.

Twisty thriller.
There is no character I could relate. They were all awful human beings and it made the book difficult to read.
Don’t get me wrong, this is a very good book, but it’s a very slow start. The first half of the book kind of drags on. About half way through it starts to pick up and gets very good.
An unusual story line made it unpredictable and entertaining.
boring and hard to read
Loved it. So uniquely put together and presented. Who dunnit???? I kept changing my mind throughout the book.
I didn’t see the movie, and have heard it no way does justice to, or is even like, the book. Whoever do they wreck good books with movie versions?
Didn’t enjoy this one at all! Most of the book is intertwined between drinking binges and reality and I found it slow going at best. How it became a best-seller is beyond me.
WOW! What a great read. Didn’t want to put this down and turn the light off!! This one had me from the start (which is the way I like all my books to do to me). Make sure you get the right one, by Paula Hawkins, because there are a couple by this same title. The ending will really surprise you. I just don’t know what else to say about this …
Could not figure out what others saw in it.when I returned it to the library the librarians agreed with me.
Ok but not as good as I thought it would be. Didn’t really like author’s style of writing.
While the ending was unexpected, the rest of the novel was tiresome. Switching back and forth between narrators was fine, but changing points in time was confusing. I hated every character, including the train.
AMAZING!!!!!!
Good book!
Excellent!
A really complex plot that I thoroughly enjoyed. Another one I couldn’t put down.
Not that great of a book. Unrealistic.
the drinking really turned me off.
Highly recommend.
The story line for this book is great but it seemed to go on forever with the same actions
This was such a good book…so many twists!
