Instant #1 New York Times Bestseller “The Girl on the Train has more fun with unreliable narration than any chiller since Gone Girl. . . . [It] is liable to draw a large, bedazzled readership.”—The New York Times “Like its train, the story blasts through the stagnation of these lives in suburban London and the reader cannot help but turn pages.”—The Boston Globe “Gone Girl fans will devour this … pages.”—The Boston Globe
“Gone Girl fans will devour this psychological thriller.”—People
A debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people’s lives.
Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. “Jess and Jason,” she calls them. Their life—as she sees it—is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.
And then she sees something shocking. It’s only a minute until the train moves on, but it’s enough. Now everything’s changed. Unable to keep it to herself, Rachel offers what she knows to the police, and becomes inextricably entwined in what happens next, as well as in the lives of everyone involved. Has she done more harm than good?
Compulsively readable, The Girl on the Train is an emotionally immersive, Hitchcockian thriller and an electrifying debut.

The Girl on the Train was a quick and easy read, but not worth all the hype. Rachel was boring and annoying, while the plot line was repetitive. The only thing that kept me reading was wanting to know what happened to Megan.
Well they made a movie from this book. I enjoyed it but it had some dark sides.
The point of view shifted among three women. The time period kept shifting as well. I found it a little hard to follow until I glanced back to prior chapters to compare time periods. If it was the intent of the author to make the reader feel as confused as Rachel often was, she succeeded with this reader.
I disliked most of the characters in the …
Even though this book continues to get rave reviews, I really did not enjoy it. It was not realistic and the premise was far-fetched.
This book was amazing. I felt like I was the girl on the train. I was so realistic. Couldnt put it down. Loved it
Hard t follow but with a good ending.
I definitely did not anticipate how the characters in this book would all be intertwined. Wow ! Book was far better than the movie version.
Enjoyed and kept me reading until the end.
Have mixed feeling about this book. Didn’t expect the ending it had. Some parts drug put a bit long
well written,,,kept you guessing until the end.
I did not like this book. Slow read
An original page turner
Too Predictable.
I thoroughly enjoyed it and have read it a few times, didn’t like the characters very much.
Very slow and boring.
I was unsure at the beginning of this book, if I was going to like it or not.
But quickly changed my mind and finished it in 2 days! The Girl on the Train
I absolutely loved this book. It was filled with mysteries and twists that I never saw coming. I recommended this to my friends and they are loving it! A book for all ages to enjoy and cosy up with after a long day.
Couldn’t get through it
Really enjoyed this book. Great characters
This book was compared to “Gone Girl” but in my estimation it fell so far short of that comparison that I found it almost boring and trite. This was a book club read and our group was split in terms of opinions — many liked it — others did not. I can’t even choose one of the descriptions above to describe the book.
