Instant #1 New York Times Bestseller “The Girl on the Train has more fun with unreliable narration than any chiller since Gone Girl. . . . [It] is liable to draw a large, bedazzled readership.”—The New York Times “Like its train, the story blasts through the stagnation of these lives in suburban London and the reader cannot help but turn pages.”—The Boston Globe “Gone Girl fans will devour this … pages.”—The Boston Globe
“Gone Girl fans will devour this psychological thriller.”—People
A debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people’s lives.
Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. “Jess and Jason,” she calls them. Their life—as she sees it—is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.
And then she sees something shocking. It’s only a minute until the train moves on, but it’s enough. Now everything’s changed. Unable to keep it to herself, Rachel offers what she knows to the police, and becomes inextricably entwined in what happens next, as well as in the lives of everyone involved. Has she done more harm than good?
Compulsively readable, The Girl on the Train is an emotionally immersive, Hitchcockian thriller and an electrifying debut.

It took time to work my way into this book. Once I got a feel for each character it fell into place. It definitely did not turn out how I thought it would, but in the end I was satisfied with the results.
Great story. Written very clearly with an unforeseen plot turn. Not at all like the movie.
Very boring because it took so long to get to the anticlimactic ending.
Loved it
I found I didn’t like the main characters. This book just didn’t grip me at all. I probably wouldn’t have finished it but I was in a book club.
Couldn’t stop reading this one. Often drunk Rachel insinuates herself into the investigation of the disappearance of a woman whose home Rachel sees from her train window twice daily. Complicating matters, Rachel’s ex/new wife live a few doors down from the missing woman. I spent half the book wanting to strangle Rachel for continually letting her …
one of the best books Ive read this year- can’t wait to turn the next page. I couldn’t put it down
Comparisons to Gone Girl are ridiculous and insulting to GG
Edge of my seat. Great characters, and story. Keeps me interested.
Not worth being on the top of the best seller list for as long as it was….better books out there.
Was not impressed. Was very predictable and read like a tv script.
Slow difficult read.
Who can you really trust? No one. Everyone has secrets, and many of them are creepy.
just when you think you know what’s going to happen, you find yourself completely off track.
Very interesting book.
Very suspenseful
Kept my interest throughout the entire book!
The only thing that runs straight in this who done it, is the r.r. Track. Get your note cards ready to keep track of the characters. Not one you can come back to after a long hiatus and get right back into.
Could not put it down.
What was the big deal? Was not impressed!!!
