Instant #1 New York Times Bestseller “The Girl on the Train has more fun with unreliable narration than any chiller since Gone Girl. . . . [It] is liable to draw a large, bedazzled readership.”—The New York Times “Like its train, the story blasts through the stagnation of these lives in suburban London and the reader cannot help but turn pages.”—The Boston Globe “Gone Girl fans will devour this … pages.”—The Boston Globe
“Gone Girl fans will devour this psychological thriller.”—People
A debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people’s lives.
Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. “Jess and Jason,” she calls them. Their life—as she sees it—is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.
And then she sees something shocking. It’s only a minute until the train moves on, but it’s enough. Now everything’s changed. Unable to keep it to herself, Rachel offers what she knows to the police, and becomes inextricably entwined in what happens next, as well as in the lives of everyone involved. Has she done more harm than good?
Compulsively readable, The Girl on the Train is an emotionally immersive, Hitchcockian thriller and an electrifying debut.

The book starts off so slow I wasn’t sure I’d be able to keep going. Once the stor takes off, it goes fast. Lots of twists and turns later in the book. It really kept me guessing.
I was afraid to watch the movie but I had to because i couldn’t get enough. The story lingered in my mind days after I finished reading it. The movie was surprisingly true to my imagination as far as the setting and the people. Although I would’ve preferred a more attractive man to play the role of Tom, (It would’ve made more sense) and scenes …
Kept me reading , unpredictable.
I first read the book then watched the movie and re-read the book. THe second time I understood the book.
Characters were absolutely unrelatable. Felt it was a never ending pity party of the character getting drunk and throwing up
I did not like it and could not believe it was so highly rated by others. I do not recommend it.
I found myself skimming through the book and being annoyed by the characters instead of in sympathy with them. The women are mainly “snowflakes” and I kept wanting them to show some gumption. Wouldn’t recommend unless you have a high tolerance for pitiful petunias.
Different
This was probably the second “hot” book to use the “bounce back and forth” technique in current popular fiction. It is initially confusing as all get out, but it works well in spite of it all. Once you figure out what is going on, it gets easier to read and follow and you get it. It was worth it to stick with it…
I read this book twice and will probably read it again!
Just when the reader thinks the plot is figured out; a new twist is introduced.
I couldn’t figure this book out. It kept me in suspense and I love that.
This story kept me on the edge of my seat. Great read.
I really loved this book. I looked forward to reading it as it had such good reviews and the book does not fail. I must admit you may wanr to read it slowly because the book goes back and forth in time and as well the characters are introduced during differrent stages. What I did, because I tend to read quickly, is re-read the book after a 3 month …
Started out slow but ended up really enjoying it.
Overrated
Great read if you like thrillers.
Multiple twists, great who dun it!
Kept moving, very hard to anticipate the otucome.
This was a hard book to understand until half way through.
