Instant #1 New York Times Bestseller “The Girl on the Train has more fun with unreliable narration than any chiller since Gone Girl. . . . [It] is liable to draw a large, bedazzled readership.”—The New York Times “Like its train, the story blasts through the stagnation of these lives in suburban London and the reader cannot help but turn pages.”—The Boston Globe “Gone Girl fans will devour this … pages.”—The Boston Globe
“Gone Girl fans will devour this psychological thriller.”—People
A debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people’s lives.
Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. “Jess and Jason,” she calls them. Their life—as she sees it—is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.
And then she sees something shocking. It’s only a minute until the train moves on, but it’s enough. Now everything’s changed. Unable to keep it to herself, Rachel offers what she knows to the police, and becomes inextricably entwined in what happens next, as well as in the lives of everyone involved. Has she done more harm than good?
Compulsively readable, The Girl on the Train is an emotionally immersive, Hitchcockian thriller and an electrifying debut.

This book has become the prototype for many stories of this type…unrequited love. It is pretty good, but not the great novel the way it is usually depicted.
Mostly boring, surprised I finished reading this one.
didn’t like despite all the hype
This is another book that I should have loved. But it is somewhat dark and twisty – once I finished it, I wanted to go back and read it again as it made much more sense. Again, the movie is also quite good!
Very hard to get into reading. Slow start
So overrated.
Did not like and never understood the fuss. Also. Won’t read any reviews that compare a book to this book. Ugh.
It’s been awhile since I read it, but I found it to be well written
Although in the beginning I was a little confused, once I caught got into the story, I was captivated by the story.
I really enjoyed the story
Not my cup of tea.
Fantastic book. The book is so much better than the movie.
Just when I thought I had it figured out, a turn of the page brought another surprise to the party.
I liked this but didn’t love it. Can be confusing at times. Storyline was different. Once you get into it, the story moves quickly.
Started off slow but hooked you and twisted things around. Great read.
I could not follow the plot and finished with it before I was half through.
don’t care for these type novels
I did not find the characters either engaging or believable. Given the buzz I was disappointed. The ending was very guessable.
Couldn’t out it down
Great read. Kept me guessing at every turn.
