Instant #1 New York Times Bestseller “The Girl on the Train has more fun with unreliable narration than any chiller since Gone Girl. . . . [It] is liable to draw a large, bedazzled readership.”—The New York Times “Like its train, the story blasts through the stagnation of these lives in suburban London and the reader cannot help but turn pages.”—The Boston Globe “Gone Girl fans will devour this … pages.”—The Boston Globe
“Gone Girl fans will devour this psychological thriller.”—People
A debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people’s lives.
Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. “Jess and Jason,” she calls them. Their life—as she sees it—is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.
And then she sees something shocking. It’s only a minute until the train moves on, but it’s enough. Now everything’s changed. Unable to keep it to herself, Rachel offers what she knows to the police, and becomes inextricably entwined in what happens next, as well as in the lives of everyone involved. Has she done more harm than good?
Compulsively readable, The Girl on the Train is an emotionally immersive, Hitchcockian thriller and an electrifying debut.

A look at how some people lived and how they survived!!!
Good read while commuting.
No redeeming characters ! Just like our government !
Overrated. I found it hard to care about the people here.
I put this one in the same category as “Gone Girl” – it’s a thriller told in a very similar style, first person and jumping between different perspectives but withholding the critical information until the very end. I guessed the killer about two chapters before she revealed it, but she kept me guessing most of the way through… definitely a page …
I did not enjoy this book as much as everyone else. But finished because it was so highly recommended. I do not like stories about alcoholics or mental illness.
Kept wishing she would think of the situation she was placing herself in. Kept me in suspense.
Loved the suspense in this book. Nothing formulaic about it! Kept me guessing and changing my mind. Couldn’t put it down.
Enjoyed, a little too dark with charecters showing their less glamorous side.
The Girl on the Train took me a little bit to get into, but once I did I loved it. Unpredictable, page turning, wonderful
Kind of drawn out.. and for some reason I hated the main character and thought she was weak. But overall, the storyline is compelling and twisted.
If you like the twist of the movie Gone Girl, you will like this. You think you know what is going on but you are wrong! Fair warning that keeping the female characters straight can be hard.
she was a wimp
Excellent read!
Probably one of the best mysteries I have read in a long time!
Good study of an alcoholic. It got a bit long, but an interesting psychological study.
good book. Kept me guessing
Loved this book. In my opinion, much better than Gone Girl, but in the same vein.
I didn’t like this book – couldn’t relate with any of the characters.
I enjoyed this book very much. Unpredictable plot twists held my interest.
