Instant #1 New York Times Bestseller “The Girl on the Train has more fun with unreliable narration than any chiller since Gone Girl. . . . [It] is liable to draw a large, bedazzled readership.”—The New York Times “Like its train, the story blasts through the stagnation of these lives in suburban London and the reader cannot help but turn pages.”—The Boston Globe “Gone Girl fans will devour this … pages.”—The Boston Globe
“Gone Girl fans will devour this psychological thriller.”—People
A debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people’s lives.
Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. “Jess and Jason,” she calls them. Their life—as she sees it—is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.
And then she sees something shocking. It’s only a minute until the train moves on, but it’s enough. Now everything’s changed. Unable to keep it to herself, Rachel offers what she knows to the police, and becomes inextricably entwined in what happens next, as well as in the lives of everyone involved. Has she done more harm than good?
Compulsively readable, The Girl on the Train is an emotionally immersive, Hitchcockian thriller and an electrifying debut.

Entertaining
This was a real page-turner. I couldn’t put it down! If you like fast-paced reads with intriguing characters that harbour a lot of secrets, this is for you. It reminded me a lot of the tv series Dirty John in a way due to the nature of one particular character.
I did not like it
Insipid story. I did not like it.
I found the book’s premise (and plot) unpersuasive and the characters quite unlikable.
This book opened a whole new word of books for me. It had a surprise ending. I have bought this book as a gift for others.
The main character was provoking Ending was a big surprise
I didn’t like anything about this book but forced myself to finish it.
great book
I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Having such a flawed heroine who realistically struggled to overcome her situation was a refreshing change. The fact that it was a page turning mystery as well puts this on my all time favorites list.
After reading twice and listening to the audiobook, I think I liked it. Very confusing.
I found this book a real slog. Very slow and not very interesting, despite it’s intent to be a mystery. I don’t recommend it.
Slow, extremely slow, boring, extremely boring. Uninteresting, extremely uninteresting. Did not find anything to recommend this book. Sorry.
Loved it I thought it was a fast-paced psychological thriller. Different POV’s.
I did not like this at all. I read it but it never got better. There is not a single character you can like or even hate. It is pathetic people with pathetic lives.
Predictable and formulaic, but it became an international best-seller, so maybe I’m missing something.
On second thought, no. I ‘m right.
Great read. Keeps you guessing
I’m probably the only person who got tired of all the train trips and excuses of the main character.. I didn’t finish which is most unusual for me.
You will never guess who “did it”.
I enjoyed the book, but got angry at all the drinking.
