Instant #1 New York Times Bestseller “The Girl on the Train has more fun with unreliable narration than any chiller since Gone Girl. . . . [It] is liable to draw a large, bedazzled readership.”—The New York Times “Like its train, the story blasts through the stagnation of these lives in suburban London and the reader cannot help but turn pages.”—The Boston Globe “Gone Girl fans will devour this … pages.”—The Boston Globe
“Gone Girl fans will devour this psychological thriller.”—People
A debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people’s lives.
Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. “Jess and Jason,” she calls them. Their life—as she sees it—is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.
And then she sees something shocking. It’s only a minute until the train moves on, but it’s enough. Now everything’s changed. Unable to keep it to herself, Rachel offers what she knows to the police, and becomes inextricably entwined in what happens next, as well as in the lives of everyone involved. Has she done more harm than good?
Compulsively readable, The Girl on the Train is an emotionally immersive, Hitchcockian thriller and an electrifying debut.

I had a very hard time reading this book. The only book I did not finish. Book group loved it, great discussion.
I know most people love it, but I found it slow and uninspiring.
Really enjoyed this book and it keep me on edge right to the end – mostly haunting & unpredictable but could not put it down – also saw the movie and even though I knew what was happening, it still kept me on the edge of my seat – great read, enjoy 🙂
It stalled in parts and dragged a bit but over all it was a good read.
This book really played with my emotions. I couldn’t put it down. Such a brilliant thriller with such a small cast that kept me guessing all the way through.
This was a clever unusual book. It could be listened to over and over again and I could hear more of the story. It was full of deep emotion and lots of twists and turns. The characters were unique and interesting. The author has quite the imagination. I was glad that I listened to this book.
This book kept me guessing.
Pay attention to the details. Love a challenge.
The writer’s use of point of view makes the reader work to follow the story. Multiple points of view mean that the reader has to actually think about the action and results in a very strong connection with many of the narrators. Scary at times. realistic and definitely original. Compelling reading.
Good read but predictable end
Loved it – kept me guessing!
Even though I figured out a few of the secrets, I still enjoyed this book. The characters were so well-written.
I enjoyed the book. I didn’t like any of the characters they were all so frustrating, but that is why the book was good. You are wondering how bad can these people get.
The hype was lost on me. This was one of the most boring Thrillers I’ve read so far.
This book climbed to the top of the best-seller list, so I thought it must be a great read. I read it and could hardly finish it. I base a lot of my opinions on books on the characters. The characters in this book were despicable and they were only out for themselves and no one else. I found it depressing and if you enjoy the good qualities of …
Amazing !
I did not realize before I started reading this book that is was about an alcoholic. Very true depiction of an alcoholic. It was an excellent book, action packed but left you bothered.
The book plot was wonderful. I had a hard time staying with this style of writing, being in the main character’s mind exhausting.
Great ending!
This is a sad book. It touches on a few sensitive real life topics. A lot of raw emotions expressed.
I enjoyed the story. It was well written and kept me tangled in the characters feelings.
If you can get this in audio version, the narrator does a beautiful job.
