He was convinced he’d be a bachelor for life. And then he met the girl of his dreams.Jordan Reeves has fully embraced the carefree, uncomplicated bachelor life, figuring that the poor example he’d been provided by his parents of so-called marital bliss was reason enough to remain single. He’s more than content to date one woman after another and never even consider settling down, especially since … since the only female who’s ever seriously caught his attention belongs to another man.But during a vacation in Hawaii, Jordan unexpectedly meets a woman who could very easily change his mind about the joys of bachelorhood. Aubrey Larson is young, gorgeous, fun-loving, and has a wicked sense of humor to match his own. She’s also a dead ringer for the woman Jordan’s had an admitted crush on for the past few years, enough to be mistaken for her twin. Aubrey recognizes the handsome Doctor Reeves as a player of epic proportions the first time they meet, but even her usual disdain for that type of male can’t diminish the overwhelming attraction she feels for him. But as their relationship deepens, Aubrey has no idea that becoming involved with Jordan will lead to a startling discovery about her own past, and cause her to question his true feelings for her.

One of the things I love most about books by Janet Nissenson is how sweet her stories are. The Girl of His Dreams was full of swoons, humor, and romantic love.
Jordan was a confirmed bachelor. He hadn’t met a relationship that he liked. As a matter of fact, this man had no clue what a relationship was. It didn’t help that he was not-so-secretly in love with a woman who was happily married and in love with her husband. Hoping to just ‘get over it’, he embarks on a vacation to Hawaii to get his groove back. Coincidence or not, he gets a glimpse of Aubrey and he’s immediately fixated because she’s a dead ringer for the crush he left behind. Aubrey didn’t immediately fall prey to his charms, but Jordan was simply irresistible and these two started bumping pretties soon after they met. Hearts get involved and although Jordan has to go home eventually, neither one of them wants what they have to end. So what happens to the love when they get back to the real world?
Reading this book was similar to watching a romantic comedy. I could very easily see this story play out in a movie. It was light, fun, and had enough drama to keep it entertaining!
The Girl Of His Dreams is my first read by author Janet Nissenson. It appears to be a spin off of the Splendor Trilogy, but I do believe it can be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone novel.
I thought The Girl Of His Dreams was a fun and entertaining read. I thought Jordan was a really interesting character and loved getting inside of his head. He was your typical young doctor that had the world at his feet. He could have any woman he wanted, yet he couldn’t stop thinking about his married patient, Tessa. So, when he goes off to Maui for a vacation, he’s hoping not just for some fun in the sun, but also to get over his crush. All is going to plan until he meets Aubrey. He is immediately drawn to her and if he didn’t know better, she could be a dead ringer for Tessa. Aubrey is everything that Jordan could possibly want: young, beautiful, smart and most importantly, available. Has Jordan finally met the woman of his dreams?
Overall, I thought this book was an ok read. I enjoyed the pace and the story-line. I liked Jordan and Aubrey together. I thought they matched each other well and had great chemistry….they certainly burned up the pages together. I liked seeing these two interact and grow as a couple. Jordan certainly wasn’t perfect, but you could tell that his feelings for Aubrey were genuine and you couldn’t help but root for him to get his happily ever after.
Jordan is a man that knows his good looking and can get women, his a successful doctor to go with his luck with women.
Aubrey is an unassuming woman working in hawaii when she is chatted up by the sexy doctor, at first she’s not interested but he works a few more lines on her and she agrees to have lunch with him.
Aubrey has a large resemblance to a woman Jordan has admired for a while. I did not mind that she looked like Tessa, it was obvious she was completely different to Tessa in personality and age.
I found they were a great pair together, both enjoyed having a laugh and they were equally confident in the bedroom area.
The story isn’t smooth running as there is a bump in the road you could say! This bump takes the story away from Jordan and Aubrey for a while. I enjoyed the detour but was pleased when they came back together.
Overall an enjoyable light-hearted at times romance with hot and sexy scenes.
3.75 stars
So I had never read anything from Janet before, and this came up and I was like, well it’s right up my alley of what I read, and I was not disappointed at all!! I LOVED IT!!!
Janet has a way of writing that I love! It flows very nicely, had some humour in there, which I love in a romance book, and just overall was a great story about Aubrey and Jordan.
Jordan is in love with one of his patients, which is a very big no no in his world. He’s friends, if you can call it that, with her husband as they run in the same social circles. He needs to get away for a bit to clear his mind about Tessa.
I love the moment he sets eyes on Aubrey! The very moment he sees her! LOVE IT!!!
Aubrey is skeptical about Jordan, and I wouldn’t blame her one bit. He looks and sounds like a wham bam thank ya ma’am kinda guy, but can he prove her wrong?
She goes back and forth about whether she should go out with him, and on more than one occasion.
Can Jordan talk Aubrey into coming and staying with him when her contract is up, and after she visits the family?
Will Jordan tell her the secret he’s been holding in, and before anyone blabs about it, especially his best friend?
Then the plot twist comes!!! WOW!!! I wasn’t thinking that was what it was, but I had an inkling that was what it was, but never thought it would have come out like that!
Aubrey has more family than she thought she would ever have, and Jordan has just added to the mix as well!
Def would recommend this book to read as it’s AH-MAZ-ING!!!!
I have read a few books by Janet Nissenson and the common thread I find is that each of the stories are captivating, so much so that once I start reading I find it really hard to put it down. From the first chapter to the last we are gifted with a beautiful story of love and finding the person you are meant to share your life with. In this case Jordan has been infatuated with Tessa since he first met her but not only is she married but she is also a patient of his two lines that he will never cross, and I am thrilled that he is a man of strong conviction. It was never meant to be for Jordan and Tessa and that is because the person he is meant to be with is waiting for him to find her in Hawaii.
Aubrey is more than just Tessa’s doppelganger she is perfect for Jordan! Yes her resemblance to Tessa is uncanny an what instantly draws him to her but it is her heart and spirit that keeps him enthralled with her.
This story invoked a lot of emotions including rage a couple of times, but honestly this is a beautiful love story about finding ones true love and overcoming the obstacles that are your way. I would highly recommend reading this story to anyone that enjoys a well written contemporary romance with a bit of angst. Happy Reading!
**I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book**
This is the first book I have read by this author, and the first book from what I understand in this new series of hers, but does have 2 main characters from another story so I will have to pick that one up as well because this story intrigued me to know more about Ian and Tessa. I would give this book a 4 stars and highly recommend to others. I love getting stories from new to me authors and love it even more when I thoroughly enjoy them as well.
Jordan, Dr. Dreamboat, is the ultimate bachelor. He does find himself fantasizing about a certain patient of his but realizes that it can never go anywhere as she is devotedly married and he has delivered both of her children. But one can dream right. He finds himself needing to get away from reality for a while so he takes a trip to Hawaii. What he planned was to indulge in his sexual appetite with multiple woman while he was there, but what happens is far off the path he created that it sets up a whirlwind romance he never expected…
Tessa has been traveling the world with her job. She finds herself at a job in Hawaii with her contract almost up and not knowing what she wants to do with the rest of her life.. What she doesn’t expect is to be swept off her feet by an older man…
Will there whirlwind romance only be short-lived or will it continue after the 2 weeks in paradise is up??
There is a twist to this story and it was a great twist and I can’t wait for all to read to see the be reveal!
Get to one clicking to see what happens you don’t want to miss it!
It’s always exciting to pick up a novel by a new author, will this be an exciting new discovery? Will I be disappointed? Will I enjoy the story and look forward to the next one? I love this journey and adventure.
Doctor Jordan Reeves is an obstetrician/ gynaecologist who has lived a carefree bachelor life, only smitten by one Tessa, who is out of bounds as she is a happily married woman with a family. One vacation in Hawaii he meets Aubrey Larson who could almost be Tessa’s double and there is definite chemistry.
Told in the third person, which to be honest is refreshing as it’s not that common nowadays, as well as from the two lead characters points of view however it does get a little confusing at times but seems to smooth out quickly enough. The story unfolds at quite a fast pace and it is very easy to read. A little predictable perhaps but a sweet romance with some passionate intimacy.
The lead characters are so much fun together, I particularly enjoyed the way Aubrey is her normal self around Jordan. The passion between them is lava hot too, so are the descriptions of their intimate scenes! The sassy mouthed Aubrey fires off some great replies to Jordan and certainly knows how to hold her own, even though he is fourteen years her senior.
To answer my questions in my introduction yes I certainty do want to read more by this author, no I wasn’t disappointed and yes I look forward to reading about Finn and Max in their books!
The Girl of His Dreams by Janet Nissenson is book One in the Bachelor series. This is the story of Jordan Reeves and Aubrey Larson.
Jordan is a confirm bachelor not into relationships…except for the one women he thinks he loves. But she is happily married. Trying to move forward and clear his mind he goes to Hawaii and happens to catch a glimpse of Aubrey who is on twin like in her looks to the women he thinks he loves. Jordan goes forward to get to know Aubrey. Aubrey works in Hawaii so she isn’t buying what he is trying to do with her. But they slowly start to work out their attraction but can this attraction be something serious?
Big fan of Ms. Nissenson work…so this book was just a joy to read!!
What a wonderful story!! I loved Jordan aka Dr. Dreamboat when he would appear in the Splendor series, but having his own book, I think i might love him even more than Ian. Jordan and Aubrey’s story isn’t epic like the Splendor series, but it is no less amazing and wonderful in my opinion. I love the way Janet Nissenson write’s her books, they are so descriptive that it plays out like a movie in my mind as I read and the characters are like old friends you haven’t seen in a while, but you fall right back where you left off. I can’t wait to read the next books in this series.
Struggling with an unhealthy attraction to a married patient Jordan hits the road for Hawaii for some fun in the sun and between the sheets. Although this is most definitely a sexual attraction there is also another story within a story here that develops rather nicely. The author does a great job of tying in the story with the characters. Between the lies and secrets things have gotten out of hand and the author has fun helping Jordan dig himself deeper and deeper into a well.
This is my first read by this author and a fun one it was. Loads of stuff happening, decent characters and emotional sub stories brought it together well.
4.5 Stars for The Girl of Hs Dreams by Janet Nissenson. Book 1 in a new series and if this book is anything to go by she will have a hit series on her hands.
Jordan is a confirmed bachelor he has a very successful doctors practice and he has no shortage of woman trying to get him to commit to a long term relationship but there is only one woman he would settle for and she is already taken in fact he has just delivered her second child. In desperate need of a break he takes himself off to Hawaii for a two week holiday and he really thinks he is seeing things when a girl who is the spitting image of the woman he has crushed over walks out of the water in front of his sun bed……..
Aubrey spends her time working around the world in the travel industry the pay may not be great but she gets to visit some amazing places and she really can’t believe a man as handsome and successful as Jordan would see anything in her apart from a holiday romance.
As Jordan and Aubrey get to know each other it soon becomes clear Aubrey may look like the patient he has crushed over but her personality is very different and he falls madly in love with her. Could the hot doctor finally be settling down and what happens when the two women who look so alike finally meet……
I loved this sweet romance, there is plenty of passion as well as a great story the characters have depth and chemistry and once I started I could not put this book down. Looking forward to more in this new series.
Janet is a new author for me.
I loved the excerpts she would share of this book and was happy to get my hands on it early. I was able to read this book in 2 days and it was an easy read. The book is well written and even though there is a HEA there is enough interest for the books that will follow. Now I didn’t connect with these main characters as I like to. Jordan is a doctor and some of his mannerisms and talk just didn’t fit … Aubrey is spunky driven young lady and quite typical for her age which is much younger than Jordan. Parts of the book got too repetitive and not enjoyable. There are some supporting characters that are fun and one story left me wanting to know more. The plot twist was enjoyable and a pinch predictable (it truly could have only gone one of 2 ways) and as part of the twist I really enjoyed the book and the characters involved. I’ll stay tuned to Janet (as should you) and wait patiently for Max’s story!
4 star Review of The Girl Of His Dreams by Janet Nissenson
This was a new author to me. Jordan Reeves is a doctor, a player and one who is determined to keep his bachelor status firmly in place.
When in Hawaii vacationing, he meets Aubrey Larson a stunning woman with an amazing sense of humour who lives and works there. Throw in the fact that she is the spitting image of a woman he has been attracted to for years and he is immediately intrigued.
Aubrey is equally attracted to the hot doctor, even though he is not her normal type.
As their relationship develops neither of them are aware of what fate has in store for them. Jordan is drawn to the vivacious Aubrey and the chemistry between them is intense.
However all is not as it seems, will secrets tear them apart? Can their burgeoning love stand the distance when Jordan leaves Hawaii and Aubrey to return to San Francisco?
This was a sweet, humorous and romantic read with some twists and turns to keep the reader guessing.
I could relate to the characters and the writing which was strong and flowed well and I will certainly be looking into Ms. Nissenson other books.
What an unexpected romance. Jordan is a successful doctor and lusts after one of his patients, Tessa, who is happily married to Ian. He knows he can never have her but finds that his usual one-night stands don’t carry the release he is used to. His friends convince him to take a vacation and he ends up in Maui. As he is scouting the women on the beach, a vision emerges from the waves and steal’s his breath. Aubrey is trying to figure out what to do with her life as she works in Maui planning tours for guests at a hotel. When Jordan approaches her, well, she isn’t impressed with his cheesy lines but persistence is key. Jordan and Aubrey have a natural chemistry and for Jordan, he decides to take it slow with her after her quick wit keeps him on his toes making him realize he’s founds something special. I love the slow build of their romance and the unknown when he returns to California. There are several surprises along the way which pushes their relationship to the brink. Truly a wonderfully, sexy romance that provided a perfect escape. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
The Girl of His Dreams…or a smarmy pick up line?
Okay…that was harsh but that line is definitely not a winner. And Dr. Reeves is clearly out for a little “something”! He started this trip to forget his very married, unattainable patient. Now he’s met her “twin”.
It’s not hard or even a surprise where the storyline goes. It’s clear from the beginning what the trajectory of this story is. Dreams or not.
