The first novel of New York Times bestselling author Jude Deveraux’s breathtaking new series set in Summer Hill, a small town where love takes center stage against the backdrop of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice Enter Elizabeth Bennet. Chef Casey Reddick has had it up to here with men. When she arrives in the charming town of Summer Hill, Virginia, she leaves behind a demanding boss at a famous … leaves behind a demanding boss at a famous D.C. restaurant and a breakup with a boyfriend jealous of her success. Some peace and quiet on the picturesque Tattwell plantation is just what she needs to start fresh. But the tranquility is broken one misty morning when she sees a gorgeous naked man on the porch of her cottage.
Enter Mr. Darcy. What Tate Landers, Hollywood heartthrob and owner of Tattwell, doesn’t need on a bittersweet trip to his ancestral home is a woman spying on him from his guest cottage. Mistaking Casey for a reporter, Tate tries to run her out of her own house. His anger, which looks so good on the screen, makes a very bad first impression on Casey. Hollywood he may be, but he’s no sweetheart to Casey—and she lets him know it!
The plot thickens. Sparks fly—literally—when Casey is recruited to play Elizabeth Bennet opposite Tate’s Mr. Darcy in a stage adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. Just brushing past Tate makes Casey’s whole body hum. As they spar on and off stage, Casey begins to think she’s been too quick to judge. Tate is more down-to-earth than Casey expected, and she finds herself melting under his smoldering gaze. But then Tate’s handsome ex-brother-in-law, Devlin Haines, who is playing Wickham, tells Casey some horrifying stories about Tate. She is upset and confused as she tries to figure out who and what to believe. As she finds herself falling for Tate, Casey needs to know: Is the intense, undeniable chemistry between them real, or is this just a performance that ends when the curtain falls?

Great read.
Soooooooooo goooood!!!!!
This is classic Jude Deveraux at her best! The characters were amazing ! Realistic and really likable- Casey, ( Acacia) is a spitfire of action, balancing strength and compassion , and overall really nice person – I loved her- I wanted to know her- she was incredible!
I absolutely loved Tate- the Hollywood Movie star known for his Realistic portrayal of Regent men in historical romance films.
The supporting characters are witty and funny and Ms Deveraux paints their portraits so effortlessly- and lastly- but certainly not least- This incredible novel has Jane Austins “Pride and Prejudice” living and breathing as a framework for this novel – it’s written so seamlessly , one forgets where The original starts and where Ms Deveraux “story ” begins!! Incredible!!!
So worth the read!!
The Girl From Summer Hill is the first book in the Summer Hill series. Casey Reddick moves to Summer Hill after she leaves her job as a chef in Washington D.C. She is happy living in this small town that joins her with her family and friends. One morning Casey wakes up to start cooking for the upcoming play auditions she is the caterer for and sees a nude man on her porch. Casey later finds out it is Tate Landers, a movie star that owns her guest cabin and the big house on the property. The story is quick paced with turns of levity and of course romance. Along with this storyline there is fun adaptation of Pride and Prejudice for the Austin fans. A good summer light read. Of yes, and then there is male peacock who just may be the star of the book.
The story is riveting
I really loved this book, it had so many twists and turns. The characters were so amazing. The book gives you a feeling that you are in the world with the characters. I have to admit, I loved the ending. I completely adored the two characters blank and blank. I thought they wouldn’t end up together! Overall the book kept me up all night (seriously, it did) and I was really sad when the book ended. *sigh*
I really enjoyed reading this book. There were some unexpected turns, which I definitely was thrilled with.
Very easy to read, lots of twists and turns, sexy, trilling, very enjoyable
I have always enjoyed Jude Devreaux books. This was entertaining in a different way wi th the play version of Pride and Prejudice intertwined in the plot. I did not like it as well as some of her books but I look forward to more in this series.
I love all of Jude’s book once i finished this one i wanted the next one
An absolute trip. An imaginative and thoroughly believable modern day take on Pride and Prejudice. Specific praise for the enlightened update on Lydia in the face of a Wickham who makes Wickham look like a nice guy.
Great mix with Pride and Prejudice
Jude Deveraux is one of my favorite authors, and this was a great story. I love the Montgomery/Taggert connections to beloved stories, but this stands apart from those in an original direction. Loved it!
