A powerful story of friendship, love, and belonging, this is the first book of the Mirrors Don’t Lie series.

This is a contemporary romantic suspense novel, the first book in the Mirrors Don’t Lie series. “Curvy girl romance” would be a sub-genre, I suppose, because Makenna is on the heavier side.
Makenna’s best friend Kenzie is like a sister to her, in every way that counts. Their personalities are similar, they like similar things, they know each other so well they can even finish the other’s thoughts. They even look the same. They would do anything for each other. When Kenzie is in a car accident that keeps her from completing an assignment as a photojournalist, threatening her job and her livelihood, she enlists Makenna’s help. If Makenna could only borrow her ID and take her place on the plane, take the pictures, and come back without letting on that she wasn’t Kenzie, her job would be saved. It sounded simple enough. What nobody anticipated was how a big, handsome Texas stranger and the Mob figured into the equation.
This is a good book, with characters you’ll fall in love with and a plot that keeps the reader hooked from beginning to end. While it can be read as a standalone, it contains some minor cliffhangers, so be prepared to read the sequel when you finish it. While it has no actual sex scenes in it, it has some very sensual scenes that may offend certain individuals. It contains no harsh cursing, with about 15 instances of mild foul language. Four stars.
This was my first read by Becki Willis and I really liked it. It was well thought out with great characters, both the good and bad ones! There was plenty of intrigue, mystery, twists and turns to the plot, romance and a wonderful surprise at the end. Looking forward to reading the other books in the series.
Makenna Reagan helps out a friend in which sets her on a road for intrigue and danger. Will keep the reader turning pages to see how Makenna finds answers.
Becki Willis’s new book: The Girl From Her Mirror is an intriguing mystery novel with dynamic characters and a fast-moving plot. When Makenna’s best friend Kenze is involved in a serious auto accident and can’t fulfill her photojournalist assignment she begs Makenna to take her place. Unwilling yet unable to refuse her best friend, Makenna agrees to impersonate Kenzie. On the plane to Vermont Makenna meets Hardin Kaczmarek a Texas Ranger on an undercover assignment. Little do these two protagonists realize that their lives are about to take a turn for the unforeseeable. This new book by Ms. Willis is a great read and wonderful introduction to her new Mirrors Don’t Lie Mystery Series. So read and enjoy.
A captivating story about two best friends, Kenzie and Makenna, so much alike, than when Kenzie got in a car accident Makenna agrees to pose as Kenzie and go for an assignment to the White Mountains. But everything spiral out of control when Makenna is in the middle of a very dangerous situation about secrets from Kenzie’s past and she doesn’t know who to trust. The book keep you reading until the end.
This book kept me guessing. I had lots of twists turns and subtle hints about what was going on. I had a hard time putting it down. I think this book is definitely worth reading.
I really enjoyed this book with its plot twists and uncertainty of who the main character can trust. I did figure things out a lot faster than our heroine and thought she should have been smart enough to figure some things out for herself a bit faster, but the plot was good and the story well written. I would recommend this one.
A romantic suspense story involving twins who were separated at birth. Lots of drama and twists and turns in the storyline some of them very unrealistic, but then it is a fiction book, realism is overrated. All of these things added together make for a very good page turner that you don’t want to miss.
This gripping story about two girls who got separated when they were about three years with it many twists, turns and tension deserves its five star rating. Thrown in a couple of Texas rangers and members of the Italian mob and it becomes a love story with danger and a happy ending.
When her best friend and roommate is injured in a car accident, Makenna is talked into taking her place on a dream photojournalism assignment. They have always looked like sisters and have successfully played the switch game in the past. This time, however, danger lurks in the mountains of New Hampshire and with the handsome hunk, Hardin by her side, Makenna must escape those who search for her friend’s father while protecting her injured friend and keeping her true identity a secret. I particularly enjoyed the flashback sequences to the little girl who was constantly moved from place to place with a new name and new home. This is an exciting story and while the truth isn’t too hard to guess, how it will impact the lives of all involved kept me reading. I look forward to the next book in the series to continue the adventure.
Mirrors Don’t Lie Series is composed of three books concerning twin sisters separate at the age of three. I dislike them both cause of their actions, reactions and stupidity. The story line is full of unrealistic events in order for the story to flow. The dialog sometimes borders on stupid. More thought should have been put into these books because they could have really been great reads. The books do need to be heavily edited. Mafia is uppercase when it refers to the Costra Nostra, otherwise lowercase is OK if it’s like the “diaper” mafia wrecking havoc at the child care center. 3*
The Girl from Her Mirror #1 – Well written, but need to be better though through. I’ve read other books by Ms. Willis and enjoyed them. I was disappointed when she made the character stupid in order to advance the story. I would have found another way for the separation instead of believing a total stranger in a phone call; yep, no face-to-face. She also disregards her instincts about another character. She Googles everyone, but the Ranger after all he’s done for and with her?
A few action scenes were awkward, but there’s no reason for the author to have experienced what she put her character through, so take with a grain of salt or tolerance. (For example: they’re speeding and he wants her to turn left in 100 ft, which by the time he tells her what he wants that exit is long gone.)
There’s reasons explained for everything the character didn’t do and some got a bit redundant. The flow of the story is continuous and doesn’t bog anywhere. Other than a few unrealistic bits (action and dialog), the story is entertaining and the language is clean. I skipped what looked like a sex scene; written sex is so boring but sexual tension is fun. I like the family members and the roommates, all come across as likable. There’s no cliffhanger, but the Mafia is still in the picture. 4*
Mirror, Mirror on Her Wall #2 – It’s the other sister’s turn and she’s a terrible person. Not all the secrets were uncovered in book one and this book does well with the clues and investigation, and is fast paced. But too many things weren’t realistic and wouldn’t occur in reality. The main character is a meadow muffin; self-centered, selfish and irresponsible. She places others, and herself, in danger without a clue or though in her head. She’s always so smart and thinks she always right. Of course, she comes out smelling like a rose because the unrealistic events that are written for the story line. In real life, she would have died and the others with her.
Kenzie also can’t make up her mind between two men. She’s already in love with Travis, yet when she mets pretty boy Craven, she doesn’t owe T her loyality or her heart. Say what? She also confuses caring with controlling. He’s trying to keep her safe and Ms. Stupidity goes feminist and insulting. SW? Travis the Texas Ranger in love with this twit needs his head examined. Where’s his self-esteem when she’s treating him like something on the bottom of her shoe after strolling through a pig pen? Texas Rangers are not stupid men and to see him treated as an eejit is an insult to all Rangers. I don’t care what body part is thinking when he’s around her, he or any self respecting man would not tolerate this behavior. 3*
Light from Her Mirror #3 – I couldn’t read any more of this series. The second book just irritated me beyond tolerance. I have read other books by Ms. Willis that I did enjoy and were better written and thought out, so maybe this was an earlier effort before she hit her stride. Because I don’t expect improvements, I’ll just cheat and give it 3*.
this is a very good story, a page turner you will not be able to put the book down till the end. her friends is hurt in a wreck she takes her place on a photo op. someone wants her hurt but she does not know why, if you like suspense and romance you will like the book
