Good versus evil just got even more complicated.Being half-witch/half-demon and dating Marcus, a gargoyle and demon enemy, is complicated enough for Lucy. She can almost tolerate Jude, her demon father, forcing her to undergo combat training. But when Marcus’s long-lost family returns to Chicago, her world begins to crumble. Marcus’s mother wants him to leave to join the gargoyle clan; his father … gargoyle clan; his father wants him to help kill Jude. There’s one major problem with this: if Jude dies, Lucy dies.
Marcus will do whatever it takes to save Lucy and her father. Meanwhile Lucy has her own plan and with the aid of a surprise newcomer, seeks help from the most unlikely—and dangerous—source.

I loved this book almost as much as I loved the first one… Lucy is finding herself and standing up those she needs to! The strife between her and Dylan upset me. I love how she has her support system that is there for her through everything.
I can tell you that this book was better than the first and I went straight to the third after! Lucy continues to work with her Dad while working on her relationship with Marcus. Of course we have more drama come in when Marcus’s parents come into town on a mission while trying to say for another reason. Lucy believes this will put more drama with Marcus, while Nannying Dylan’s siblings, keeping up with school, and keeping all friendships in line. I thoroughly enjoyed this book in the series. Good job Pauline!! 🙂
Book 2! Well it’s definitely been interesting to say the least! I’m still debating which book I liked more, despite knowing book 3 is next. In saying that I love them both! It had a few moments where I actually laughed out loud. The Girl and the Gargoyle by Pauline Gruber takes us further into Lucy’s story.
Dylan and Jude are definitely my favorite characters. Lucy is actually quite annoying at times and all Marcus does is brood.
There’s a war coming and it’s time for training to prepare. Jude is being hunted by a protector, a gargoyle, who just happens to be Marcus’ father. On top of the fact the threat of Seamus still remains.
Getting deeper into the author’s world, I want to be part of it! I can’t wait to get my hands on book 3 to continue this series!
This second installment of the Girl and the Raven series is a great continuation to the storyline. Lucy Walker is finally coming into her powers and learning who she is as a person and beginning to find affections for her newly found father.
In this book, the focus is no longer just on Lucy. Marcus’ mother and father who abandoned him with his step father, now want a relationship with him and have him lead the Gargoyle clan. Great, except for the fact that a gargoyle’s job is to kill demons! This book includes many fights and a great deal of drama to keep you on the edge of your seat.
I look forward to book 3!
I give The Girl and the Gargoyle: YA Paranormal Romance (The Girl and the Raven Book 2) by Pauline Gruber, 4 stars.
**This review may contain spoilers from book 1.**
Wow, this series just keeps getting better. Lucy is still struggling with her relationship with Marcus, but that is really the least of her worries. There is so much more action in this book and we meet even more characters to make everything that much
more interesting. Lucy has doubts about almost everyone, but she still has a good heart and firm beliefs on what she should do. She really grows more in this book and she is what makes it so good. Of course, the secondary characters make it even better. Her “family” loves her and does what they can to help her. There are plenty of other great characters you won’t soon forget on both the good and evil sides.
Again, the story is fantastic in this book. I quickly picked this book up after book one and could not put it down. The author weaves such a captivating story. At the heart, it is good vs evil, but who is good and who is evil? You are asking yourself that the whole time.
If you are a fan of YA Paranormal Romance or Urban Fantasy, this book is for you. I do recommend reading book one first so you have a better understanding though.
Book two was even better than the first!! I can’t wait to read book three!!!
Lucy has had a rough life. Her gran passed away, then her mother passed away, she moved in with her uncles but keeps secrets from them, her father (Jude) is a demon and he’s forcing her to take combat training, her boyfriend (Marcus) is a gargoyle who’s natural enemies are demons, someone is trying to kill her father which in turn will kill her, and did I mention that she’s a half witch half demon?!?! Right!! Well, when Marcus’s long-lost family returns to town Lucy thinks she will lose him forever. She must team up with an unexpected group and fight once again. Will she? Will her father die and her with him? Will combat training get the best of her? Will she lose her boyfriend? Will a most dangerous demon kill her? You guys have got to read this set!! So much happens and it is SO good!!
The Girl and the Gargoyle is book two in The Girl and The Raven series by Pauline Gruber. In book one, we were introduced to Lucy Walker. Lucy had just lost her mom and had moved in with her uncles in her grandmother’s old house. We were also introduced to Lucy’s neighbor Marcus and Lucy’s high School friend Dylan. Lucy made the startling discovery that she was half-witch and half-demon. She also discovered her long lost father, who turned out to be a demon.
Book two quickly picks up where book one left off and does not disappoint throughout. This is another page turner as we learn more about Lucy. Lucy is now dating Marcus who happens to be a gargoyle. Lucy’s father, Jude, is a demon. As much as Lucy wants to get to know her father, she does not love him or trust him. However, Jude forces her to spend time with him so he can train her in how to use her supernatural skills and abilities.
The love triangle between Lucy, Marcus and Dylan intensifies. Dylan is no longer trying to hide his emotions for Lucy and Lucy is finding it hard to resist the feelings that she is having for Dylan. Something that becomes even more challenging because they spend a great deal of time together training at Jude’s house. This creates tension and conflict between Lucy and Marcus. Lucy is head over heels in love with Marcus and doesn’t want to lose what she has with him, so she tries to ignore her feelings for Dylan.
Marcus, who has grown up without a mother of his own, has his life suddenly thrown into a tailspin when his long-lost mother shows up. Marcus’s mother, Camille, begs Marcus for forgiveness and tells him she wants to be part of his life. Lucy finds it difficult to believe that Camille’s intentions are true and fears that she is there to hurt Marcus. Lucy also feels that Marcus might fall for his mother’s lies and leave her. It isn’t long before Marcus finds out his long-lost father is also back. When it comes to light that his father has come to Chicago with the intention of killing Lucy’s father Jude the battle between good and evil intensifies. Lucy is conflicted and unsure who to trust and Lucy and Marcus find themselves pitted on opposite sides of the battle between good and evil. As if things aren’t bad enough, Lucy soon discovers that if Jude dies, then she will also die. Marcus vows to keep Lucy and her father’s safe no matter what. Lucy wants to help so she tries to devise a plan to save not only Jude but herself and all her loved ones. In doing so, she calls in the most unlikely of allies.
The Girl and The Gargoyle did not disappoint from start to finish. It had everything a reader could be looking for. The book contained great characters and a supernatural world. I really enjoyed reading about Lucy and how her skills and strength developed and were honed throughout. We’re also introduced to more characters while getting to know the main characters a lot better. It contained gargoyles, witches, demons, and protectors. Friendships were forged and friendships were broken. It was steeped in romance as the love triangle intensified between the three main characters. Families were reunited and families were torn apart. Alliances were formed and alliances were broken. The battle between good and evil raged on. I highly recommend book two and can’t wait to start book 3, The Girl and The Demon!
This second book in this series leaves off with the first as Lucy comes to terms with her father and maybe he’s not all that evil for a demon that is. But what about her other half, the witch side of her bloodline, it hasn’t had it’s awakening yet and what will happen when it does.
In this book we’re introduced to some new characters and new dimensions of the characters from the first book. First off, we finally get to meet Marcus’ parent when they come back into town, but their ulterior motives arise when they meet Lucy for the first time. As Marcus’ father lets the news slip about coming to town to kill Jude Lucy is faced with her own mortality. Now Marcus must put his hatred for Jude and Dylan aside in order to protect Lucy again except this enemy is his own blood. Add in some surprise characters that may tip the scales, but which side will come out on top? The next step in every great relationship is meeting the parents but did Lucy and Marcus bite off more than they could chew? This book should be on everyone’s must read list right after the first book in this series, they are that good!
The Girl and the Gargoyle by Pauline Gruber is a fab five-star read. This is number two in The Girl and the Raven series and I would say its best to read them in order as this does build on the last story, in that one we met a few characters, in this one we get to meet more. So many more, and so much more angst in this one. There are parts that not everyone will love, but I really love it. Lucy takes us on a wild ride with this one.
Pauline Gruber did NOT hold back with the second instalment in this series! Lucy’s character grows into who we hope she’s going to be even more and the story keeps giving us that thrill. I seriously cannot get enough of this series and I couldn’t recommend it more. The writing, the plot, the flow, all of it just works so well and has us as readers falling for every line! Don’t walk, run, get the books, read them all, and question how this story isn’t far beyond Young Adult categories across the globe. This book is one I wish I had read as a teen, and as a mom, I’m here for it just as much!
Book 2 was just as amazing as the first. This tale is told just as immaculately, and still just as many twists and turns. Lucy is dating Marcus and slowly starting to come into her own. Still getting to know her father Jude and adjusting to her lifestyle you will find that just when things hit a calm something big comes about just as quickly. Book 2 will have you guessing and page turning quickly as Lucy and her delightful cast of characters continues on in this super fun tale.
The 2nd book is as good as the 1st. I can’t stop flipping the pages. I’m so addicted. I really thoughly enjoyed this series. Please continue along series.
I came in on the second book once I was a few chapters in I quickly paused and ran to the first book “The girl and the Raven” although the author does a fantastic job of introducing each character in the second book when they pop up I adored how she explained their interactions and little ticks they each have. So after reading the first book I hopped right back a few chapters deep and couldn’t put it down. I’m a fan of the not so typical paranormal books and this was just what I needed. I’m hooked and can’t wait to read the 3rd book
This book was another fast paced, adventure filled, page turner. I am really enjoying these books. Lucy really has a long way to go to understand who she is and what she can do. But reading about how she stands up for herself and her friends all while trying to live a normal teenager’s life, really shows what type of person she is. Figuring out all the things she needs to do and still keeping it all together. She stands up for her friends and really cares. The problems that she faces, she really thinks thought what needs to be done and how to get it done. I really can’t wait to see what lucy has in store next.
The Girl and the Gargoyle brings us back into the world of Lucy, half demon, half witch. Lucy once again has her hands full: dating Marcus, a gargoyle, dealing with her father and his high expectations, and trying to stay alive. Jude, her father, is making her life miserable, wanting her to focus on her demon training above all else.
The second in the Girl and the Raven series, this book is just as good, if not better, than the first one. Lucy is a likeable character who is growing as the story continues. Dylan is by far my favorite character. Reading the development of the relationships is great, and the story has several twists and turns along the way. This one was hard to put down!
Honestly glad it took me this long to find this series. I would have gone nuts waiting for this book to come out! I dove right into this one after finishing the first book in the trilogy. So. Freaking. Good! Lucy didn’t skip a beat from book one to book two. She knows her father Jude, and exactly what he expected of her, and she’s dating a freaking gargoyle. So so hard to get anything done when all I wanted to do was read… I’m ready for book three!
Boy, Book 2 did not disappoint!! I love this book and series! Definitely read book 1 before diving into book 2. Lucy’s father, Jude, wants Lucy to train with him so she can use her demon powers. In the story, Lucy just wants to be with Marcus, but Marcus’ mother has other plans and would like Marcus to join their gargoyle clan. There is so much to this story I would love to share, but do not want to give out any spoilers and I love it. Demons, gargoyles, witches with twists and turns. Truly fabulous!
I enjoyed the second installment of Pauline Gruber’s series about Lucy and Marcus. This series has it all, love, adventure, drama, witches, gargoyles, and demons. I found myself lost in Pauline Gruber’s intense world and loved it. This series is really good and I look forward to reading the next one.
The Girl and the Gargoyle (The Girl and the Raven Book 2) by Pauline Gruber was a great addition to this series. Ms. Gruber really grabs her readers attention in the beginning and doesn’t let go of it until the very last page. She brings back the great characters from book one,as well as some great new additions and while I love Jude, I really loved reading mire about Dylan in this second installment. This book has so much to offer including teenage angst, a love triangle, drama and more. Personally I can’t wait for the next installment in this series to see what happens with Lucy and all of our other beloved characters.
The story of Lucy Walker continues in The Girl and the Gargoyle. Half witch half demon girl dating a gargoyle and living with her uncles. It is safe to say her life is very complicated. I very much am enjoying all her adventures as she learns.
